- 2011 BMW 335: cel comes on about every 15 days I'm posting this because there is very little information about these cars. First, let me get to the important part: Bought the car in Dec. 2016 with 70k miles. Sold it on 4/16/2020 with 129k miles. In between, I spent almost $30,000 on repairs. That doesn't even count the ones that BMW paid for. Here's a few of them: Replace battery/power cable, $3400. Yep, battery and cable. Harmonic balancer, $3500. Whoever heard of a harmonic balancer going bad? Well, if it's got a rubber center, they do. Particulate filter, ... read more »
- 2005 Chevrolet Colorado: reduced power warning from pcm Let's set the mood and start off the story with a little backstory. Meet me, a high schooler down on his luck looking for a good 4WD for the disgusting New York winters. Then I meet Samuel, the 2005 Chevy Colorado Crew Cab, with a 5 speed manual. Oh the excitement. I get to truck my friends, school stuff, hobby stuff, and so much more all with a 5 speed and fuel-sipping 4 cylinder engine. I knew Samuel was gonna need a little work, he had new power window regulators installed, on top of a thermostat (needed for ... read more »
- 2015 Chevrolet Cruze: overheating Red is the new lemon. I saw this sweet red Chevy Cruze and thought to myself, this is going to be awesome! The color red means speed and power, just like a race car. Yeah, it turned out otherwise. When I got in this baby, it gave me the adrenaline I needed! It was going great! Fast forward a few months later, it starts overheating and accelerating like an old computer booting up. Well, there goes my adrenaline. I take it to the dealership and they replaced the spark plugs due to engine misfiring and the cylinder ... read more »
- 2013 BMW X3: broken timing chain guide It's a 2013 BMW X3 with 100,110km on it. I've owned it since October 2017. On October 15 2020, I was driving normally, and I got a message on my dash saying there was a “drivetrain malfunction“. After a few minutes, the message went away and the check engine light came on. The vehicle slowed down and came to a stop and at the end locked to parking position by itself. BMW CANADA manager - name sounds like Cory - called me back for this issue. He told me the first owner had a gap on oil change between ... read more »
- 2017 Subaru Crosstrek: paint and chrome are easily damaged Every little flying object or abrasion seems to knock the paint down to the primer. My 6 year old daughter tried to toss a smallish piece of driveway gravel over her head and accidentally threw it forward (SPORTS!), underhanded, and it just reminded us of how thin it is. Every little rock and stone from the roadway exposes primer somewhere. Wasn't a problem on the Mazda this replaced, or on my 2005 Dodge ... read more »
- 1993 Honda Accord: running loud Okay i don't really have a problem with Benny right now.i Just replaced the distributor because i almost blew him up, because oil leaked everywhere! I just replaced his back exhaust pipe and he seems to be more quiet. which suck because i love Benny loud! but i just wanted too write that i have the best 1993 Honda Accord. He has 264,000 miles & will make to about 500,000. I got a lot of confidence in Benny to last a life time. we bought Benny for 500$ at around 200,000 and ive had his for about a year n a half ... read more »
- 2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac: door handles braking off Super long story but if you enjoy other people's suffering then please hold on to your seat. This vehicle was given to me as a gift, can't really complain about a free vehicle, unless of course that vehicle has more issues than pokemon go has glitches. Most of it was minor things that I learned the love because my vehicle was "quirky" and "unique", then things began a downward slope into hell on which I'm currently still riding. To begin with my vehicle for some reason had the child safety lock permanently set for ... read more »
- 2013 BMW 320: stereo not working properly I'm jamming out to the latest Taylor Swift song (don't judge me), but when the jamming gets a little too intense I go to turn down the volume on the stereo. But for some reason, just doing that turns off the sound entirely -- why does my BMW hate Tay Tay? read more »
- 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan: power door locks not working Although I see a LOT of posts about this, I'll describe it a bit anyways. Simply put, the door locks quit responding to and power stimuli. Not the switches on the doors or the FOB. When you lock it with the FOB the van does beep to tell you "Hey! hey! You think I'm locked but oh you poor fool, I'm not." Nothing has permanently fixed the problem. Mechanics said replace the BCM like the rest of you but I didn't bother. I've learned it's easy enough to simply disconnect one of the battery cables and reset the ... read more »

- 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt: airbag engages, disengages randomly Since I purchased this car used in 2012 with 26000 miles on it, I have had poltergeist like issues, since day one of owning it, the DIC [Drivier Information Center] has told me that my door has been ajar at 100 kph on the highway when it was clearly closed, ice possible in 35 C weather, but my most disturbing issue is, the passanger seat air bag being engaged and disengaged randomly when no one was sitting in the seat. After a few trips to the dealership and hours of countless research, I appear to be the only ... read more »
- 1995 Ford F-150: truck is too tough, can't find reason to get rid of it Okay, this truck is too much of a battle wagon. I feel like a stubborn old man who refuses to sell his "American Built Ford Tough" truck. When I tell people I drive a Ford, they all say the gripe and complain about their past Fords that fell apart like legos. I bought it for next to nothing, just needed a truck for work. Somehow, besides some dings and scratches, the clear coat is still intact. It starts EVERY MORNING, I drive 200 miles A DAY. It just doesn't stop rolling! I would like a small reason to move on ... read more »

- 2010 Chevrolet Equinox: excessive oil consumption Smeds Dec 16, 2014 Atlanta, Illinois 12 16 2014A PUBLIC LETTER TO CHEVY AND EQUINOX OWNERS If you like Christmas, you will like the Chevy Equinox. Mostly because the dashboard lights up all the time with different messages regarding mechanical issues. My 2010, which I have soaked thousands in repairs into, gave me this neat message today! I've tried working with GM and Chevy on this, of course no one seems to want to admit that the 4 cylinder Ecotec engine is a pile of reindeer excrement. I bought it used with 36k ... read more »
- 2013 Ford Escape: excessive fuel consumption Fuel mileage is way off from EPA reported for this vehicle. Was sold on the idea of 6L/100km hwy and 9L/100km city. Huge BS.... Within a month I was getting more then 30% worse mileage approx 12.3L/100km combined hwy and city driving on a daily basis. I started complaining to the dealership immideately, they ran diagnostics and told me the vehicle was fine and running exactly as it should be. They offered the excuse that I had to break the engine in. After a further 2 months of driving I had seen no improvement ... read more »
- 1999 Toyota Corolla: excessive oil consumption The car was described the same way people describe a wonderful city; i.e. good schools and lovely people. I got Detroit. It has drunk oil since I got it at 86,000 miles. Its not at 150,000 and getting worse. Additionally, Ive been through a starter and brakes, understandable repairs. The harmonic balancer failed, too. Its expensive and time consuming to keep adding oil to this thing. Add up 3.00 a week since 2006. $864.00 farted out the back. The worst part is when people find out you drive a corolla and they ... read more »
- 2004 Volkswagen Jetta: trim/hubcaps fall off This is not an ornately designed car. The external swag is limited to silver hubcaps and fake chrome strips along the door panels. And yet, EVERYTHING FALLS APART! In the four years that my girlfriend has owned this car we've had to replace two hubcaps, four "VW" hubcap logos and five pieces of fake chrome striping. It's like this car's proletariat heart cannot stand to be adorned. If the human body shed disease like this car sheds design cues we'd all live to be 1,000 years ... read more »
- 2004 Volkswagen Jetta: EPC light comes on, runs roughly This car has exactly seven hundred thousand sensors in it. If a small child farts in a bank vault in the next county, this car will sense it and it will FREAK OUT. After I'd replaced the MAF sensor we still had a problem with the EPC light coming on and the car shuffling down the highway like it was made of concrete and Parkinson's disease. The VW dealership said it was the throttle body sensor. Not the throttle body mechanism, mind you, just the sensor. Twenty guesses on whether you can just replace the sensor ... read more »
- 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe: rear liftgate won't unlock Just what I wanted.... A nice big vehicle where I can take the 3rd row seats out and have my rear lift door not unlock! No, I didn't really want or need that space, I just paid that extra money for looks, just to have that room open feel while driving on the road. Why would I want to use the back in for groceries when I can fip the back seats down and put them there all piled on top of each other smashing my bread and eggs? Why would I want to get the back end dirty when I can borrow someone elses truck to move ... read more »
- 2000 Ford Windstar: A/C blows hot air Do you know how hot it gets in ALABAMA? Whether you are going to church, work, grocery store or beach, You've wasted the cost of the days make-up application & your nerves are shot from kids whining about how hot they are in the back(3rd row) seat!! Oh did I mention how miserable it is carrying 6-7 kids EVERYWHERE in a hot vehicle & how miserable they can make your day. Try it & see if you wouldn't want to check yourself in a mental hospital just for a break! If the kids ain't happy, mamma & daddy ain't ... read more »
