- 2014 Ford F-150: downshifts while driving (11 complaints) My transmission randomly shifts down to first gear regardless of how fast I am traveling. It happened so many times I had the replace the transmission costing about 8k. This did not fix the problem. I took it to ford and it was under a recall, so they reprogrammed the computer and it took care of the problem for about 4 months. Now it is back to its same old tricks. The dealership told me that they have done what is required of them to fix the recall. Now I am at a loss of what to do to fix the ... read more »
- 2016 Kia Sorento: engine failure (50 complaints) Overheating engine, no heat. Coolant eruption from reservoir bottle. Hydrocarbon test positive for engine internal damage. Garage confirmed, head gasket replaced including new head bolts, thread kit, milling of head, replacing all timing chain components and guides while engine was apart. Problem not solved. In 4 days vehicle will have be at the Kia dealership awaiting a decision by Kia about how they're going to proceed for 4 months. New engines or replacement engines are upwards of $7,000 and its still worrisome ... read more »
- 2016 Honda CR-V: won't start or turn over (6 complaints) Went on vacation for 1 1/2 months. Left car in heated garage. Supposed to be hooked up to trickle charger, but caretaker didn't follow thru so car was left. Caretaker tried to start it 2 days later- (reportedly-I have no way to verify)-wouldn't start. No lights, nothing! This is the third time I have come home to a dead battery!!! I live in AK. We have cold snowy winters. I can't afford to have a dead car. Dealer just keeps giving me a new battery (for free). They are clearly dodging the real problem. Help!!!! ... read more »
- 2018 Ford Escape: sluggish, overheating (3 complaints) It started to overheat, I took it to a parts store and they told me it was the thermostat. I proceeded to buy a new one and the problem was solved for a few days, then it happened again. They recommended changing the water pump, I changed it and it didn't solve it. After a thorough inspection, the head gasket was blown so everything had to be disassembled, the gasket replaced and the engine rebuilt. All this including labor cost me 1,600 ... read more »
- 2002 Ford Explorer: leaking coolant (7 complaints) Let me start off by saying this is my first and most definitely last Ford. I purchased this vehicle to be able to work on it myself not knowing how naïve I really was in this specific model. Literally less than 30 days from purchase all hell broke loose and every day I hate this POS more and more. Starting from fuel relay, fuel pump, radiator hose, suspension, Windows not rolling up anymore (all four), driver seat motor breaking will tilt but not move forward or backwards. There is a consistent ticking noise ... read more »
- 2009 Toyota Highlander: turning wheel makes a roaring sound & burning smell under hood (1 complaints) I dropped it off at the shop this am. I will not know cost until they call me. I am guessing it's the electrical power steering since it started roaring when turning wheel, but not sure why under the hood smells like roasted marshmellows. I googled this for highlander and it was a common problem. Should be a recall item. It's like they stop doing recalls once a few years ... read more »
- 2018 Hyundai Sonata: defective engine (4 complaints) The engine died!! At only 127,000 miles! So of course it wasn't covered by warranty, and we didn't have all of the oil changes done at the dealership (we did a lot of them ourselves but didn't think to keep the receipts, though I doubt Hyundai would have even cared), so there's little to no chance of Hyundai covering it under their Goodwill Department, and I'd have to have the engine replaced and paid for before I would even find out if Hyundai would cover it (which sounds like it is very unlikely), so we will not ... read more »
- 2017 Ford Escape: coolant leaking into the cylinders (21 complaints) P0302 coolant into cylinder #2. Known problem on all the Ford forums and websites. Well taken care of vehicle, oil every 3k, trans fluid changed once a year. No rust. Vehicle is sitting here in my garage, I can't drive it. Nobody will buy it. Scrap value. Certain years and vins were on a recall, not this one for some reason. If I had gotten the recall the years and mileage would have covered it. Not worth spending $5000 for a new style engine block so i am stuck with a piece of junk with no value. Last Ford I will ... read more »
- 2015 Kia Sedona: engine failure (3 complaints) Engine stopped working without any warning. I had 4 kids in the car and just lost power on the freeway. Luckily we were very close to our destination, and I was able to exit to safety. The "check engine" light didn't turn on until I returned to my car many hours later. I had the car towed. The mechanic says a plastic "T" coupling piece broke causing the coolant to leak and now there is oil in the coolant system. I need a whole new engine, which costs more that the car is worth at this point. I am angry! I did ... read more »
- 2025 Toyota Crown: wiring destroyed by rodents (1 complaints) I parked my car for one day; I usually drive it almost every day. When I went to start the car, every single light relating to safety features came on and the message area displayed malfunctions with the countless safety features based on the car’s radar sensors. Then, it said Steering Power Low, with a suggestion to visit my dealer. I had it towed under warranty because I was scared to drive it, with the wheel being very difficult to turn. I was DUMBFOUNDED when I got the call that rodent damage cut clear ... read more »
- 2013 Ford Focus: transmission lags, shifts roughly (45 complaints) I didnt know what was causing the jerking and not shifting properly so I called the dealership to get an appointment. Before I got there my focus would not move when in reverse. I had my towed to the dealership. After checking over my focus I was told that the clutch was faulty. I was told I needed a clutch assembly, 2 clutch release, clutch actuator and in the end the I'll was $2,360.54. I was told the car was operating as it should. At the beginning of 2025 the problem is happening again. This time it's the ... read more »

- 2002 Oldsmobile Intrigue: camshaft position sensor failure (1 complaints) Parked the car for a couple months and when I started it up after awhile it was pretty rough. Turned it off and started it again and it ran fine. Then while driving there were some power surges and upon scanning the engine codes it says the camshaft position sensor was losing track. After ordering a new sensor off Rock auto and throwing it in the car would not start at all. Put the old sensor back in and it started again with its usual rough idling behavior. Waiting on Rock auto to send me another sensor because ... read more »
- 2002 Oldsmobile Intrigue: ABS speed sensor failure (1 complaints) ABS light, service light, and traction light all illuminated at the same time for 1 speed sensor. I don't mind driving without ABS so I won't bother replacing the assembly until the wheel bearing goes. read more »
- 2011 Honda CR-Z: paint peeling off (3 complaints) I love my CR-Z, and I have almost 200k miles on it. However, I have noticed an issue with the paint on the top of the car, and a few spots on the hood. The paint "runs" have made the top of my car turn from black to grey. With the car being pretty rare, I have not seen many I could talk to about this. That said, I found several other owners that had CR-Zs, and they have had the same issue. Additionally, I noticed where the hinges are on the hatchback, the frame does not seem to be painted thoroughly enough. It was ... read more »

Repair shop informed me there is a dealer service bulletin on this issue but GM had so far refused to recall or pay for repairs caused by there faulty PCV system in the 2.4 liter Equinox. Recently had to have the exhaust manifold replaced and was told that this is another common failure point this ... read more »
- 2014 Chevrolet Equinox: cracked exhaust manifold (1 complaints) Replaced the catalytic converter and noticed the exhaust manifold was cracked. Repair shop advised this is another common common problem with the 2.4 liter engine and that GM has refused to recall or pay for replacement of these poorly designed parts. This is also likely what caused the converter to ... read more »
