My wife was driving car makes a turn and hears a noise in steering wheel. The drivers side air bag light comes on. Upon further investigation the steering wheel electric controls also do not work. Online research shows voluntary recall by VW for certain 2010- 2014 Passats for clock spring. Bring to local mechanic who tells me clock spring is bad and I should bring it to VW for repairunder recall. Call my dealer in riverhead NY who informs me that even though the Passat is in recall range the VIN is not part of recall at this time.VW has recall for 420,000 cars for clock spring but for some reason mine is not included and I will have to pay $400 for repair. Recall needs to be expanded.
Takata recall. My airbag inflator has not been replaced in over a year-and-A-half since the recall started. Every time I call Volkswagen they tell me there's no fix available. I live in Arizona where it's hot and dry can't trade in my car cause the trade in value has plummeted do to safety concerns and non drivability.

"takata recall" I have received a safety recall letter about (NHTSA 16V078) for my VW Passat 2013. The letter emphasizes that I should "not delay in having this recall repair performed". I have scheduled a visit to VW dealer in arlington tx "hiley Volkswagen arlington" through their website www.hileyvw.com/ for 04/20/2017 09:30 am. I however got a phone call from the dealer (a representative named huma) today (04/19/2017). She said that they do not have the part to do the replacement. She said VW only sends them parts once a week and they do not have enough to get my vehicle serviced tomorrow. She said she would call me on Friday to let me know when I should take the car to the dealer for repair. I am disturbed that they delay the repair of my car while the recall letter says that it should be done right away because, if not, it "may result in serious injury or death to vehicle occupants."

My lease is ending in May 2017. I have paid into this car for four years and planned to buy the residuary. I spoke with the local VW dealership and they won't do anything here in charleston, SC. I am concerned because I am in a hot and humid region and it makes my airbag even more of a danger!! I spoke with VW credit and they say they can sell me the residuary but will not provide a credit or anything else. I will just need to drive the defective car. I spoke with VW's national customer care and they just fed the bs that they won't do anything because they are following the rules. They will not act to protect consumers unless forced through a lawsuit or forced by a regulatory Agency like the NHTSA. It is negligent and irresponsible of VW to place blame on every but themselves. My partner and I have been with VW for almost 15 years but unless VW makes this right and either provides a safer car, fixes the airbag, or provides some sort of credit or incentive to me, VW will lose a customer. I will give my money to another car dealership.
