On Dec 14, 2019 I purchased a new 2019 VW Jetta sel from a VW dealership. The car had only 7 miles on it. The day after I purchased it, I noticed a consistent grinding, growling or rubbing noise when traveling at lower speeds. The car seems slow, like it's not shifting properly. It happens all day long, every time I drive it. I took it into the dealership where I bought it & I was told this is a normal sound. It doesn't seem right to me, I'm afraid to drive the car on the freeway. Brand new car! then I got on the internet today only to find out that there is a big problem with 2019 VW Jettas - maybe the transmission or the torque converter.

I recently started a lease for a 2019 Jetta SE. I started to notice a strange sound like scrapping and grinding as the car accelerated and particularly around the 20-30 mph mark. It is almost like a shallow howling and seemingly from the transmission. Please also note that I brought the car new about 25 miles on it and the noise started almost instantly. The VW dealership I went to gave no good resolution and informed me that the noise was 'normal' of this transmission. A noise coming from the transmission of a new car should never be taken as 'normal'. I have enjoyed driving the 2017 model the last 3 prior years and am very disappointed with this response and the way the vehicle is functioning. I hope VW does the right thing with either a proper fix or a recall. I am very concerned about the longevity of this issue and what it means safety wise now and down the line.

Random short grinding sound around 25-35mph in 5th gear or in reverse when at low RPM (1,200). Sounds like it is coming from the transmission area/torque converter. Vehicle in motion going straight or turning when this occurs.

I own a 2019 Volkswagen Jetta. Since purchase on 9/10/18, the car has had a vibration. At first I thought it was perhaps a shield on the muffler but after 3 documented trips to the VW service department on 10/17/18, 5/29/19, and 9/18/19 complaining about the vibration, I am told it is from the torque converter. I have a case # [xxx] where I raised the issue with customer care. Volkswagens' response is that it is a normal noise. That is an unsatisfactory response. It goes along with the Volkswagen culture of denial as in the recent diesel issue. There is a problem; it is not normal as VW professes and I want it fixed. This vibration occurs at 27 mph very briefly and continues at a reduced noise level any time the engine is under load above 27 mph. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Car is brand new with less than 1000 miles driven and has either a vibration or grinding sound coming from in the engine compartment. I'm sitting at the dealership and I've been told by the dealer that VW is aware of the issue and they think it's the turbo but there is no fix is available yet. It sounds like loose/bad bearings or a bad pulley rattling. It happens when it shifts through the gears while taking off from a standstill under light acceleration and at a low RPM. It occurs every time between 20-35 mph. It is easy to replicate.

Since day one car is shaking like a boat, when I drive it on a highway making it not stable. Brakes squeak and I see signs on the brake disk.I am with the original brakes. Car is shutting down when I park. When I switch again to drive, it is completely off from itself, key is inside and I have to turn the key off and then start the car again. Air condition is not working properly VW said they have better 8 zones air condition. I had oil lamp around 5000-6000 miles they said that the car should not have problems till 10 000 miles. I have problems accelerating, I am loosing power. I have grinding scraping noise from the transmission. Also transmission jumps when I drive, slow response. The engine is giving me lag when I am at traffic light, vibration and shaking. I make multiple calls to the dealership and Volkswagen group of America to tow and fix my car that I leased. I explain that the car is not safe. I have been involved in multiple accidents. I am not feeling safe operating this vehicle. It's been more than half year and not one problem is fixed.

Every sense I bought my Jetta over the last few months it stalls out when slowing down to a stop and when starting from a stop. The rpms will go up but then drop immediately. It's happened quite a few times. I've called my local Volkswagen dealer and they said they have not heard of any other issues like this. It stalled out twice on my when driving home the other night it has almost caused me to be rear ended a few different times to the point I'm scared to drive with my nephews in the car. When I'm slowing down I push in the clutch and the rpms with shoot up and then stall out it doesn't matter if I give it more throttle or not. The same thing happens when I'm starting from a start at low speed. It happens mostly on city street. Has happened once on the highway when I was slowing down for bumper to bumper traffic.

I purchased my VW Jetta autobahn edition 6 speed manual transmission (build date of 07/19) on 10/06/2019. It was purchased new with under 10 miles on it and since day 1 when I drove it home, I have been experiencing excessive stalling in low speeds. The engine turns off without warning as I slow to a stop and happens with or without the clutch engaged and also when the vehicle is in neutral. All of the stalls have occurred while I have been driving on city streets and seems to be happening in the afternoons mainly and only after I have been driving for about 10+ miles but once the first stall occurs, the vehicle will stall again within 1-2 miles thereafter. On a single drive, it has stalled up to 5-6 times. I am also experiencing incorrect gear indicator. For example, if I am in 3rd gear, the vehicle registers that I am in 5th gear and vice versa. My vehicle has under 2K miles and is currently at the dealer and they are attempting to figure out the problem. The service manager I dealt with mentioned that he, personally, has worked with 2 customers that have presented the same problem. 1 customer had his vehicle "bought back" and the other, which was a month ago, had his "throttle valve" replaced and has not had the problem return. I have video of instances to support this claim, however the file size is too large to upload.

2019 VW Jetta gti autobahn manual transmission stalls or loses engine power randomly. For me, it has happened several times in 5th or 6th gear when taking my foot off of the gas and coasting, the car will choke and feels as though fuel is cutoff and the engine cannot generate power. This is temporary, and shifting again and giving a little gas eventually things go back to normal. However, I'm concerned something is malfunctioning and more importantly at highway speeds this could be dangerous as it's sudden and expected.

2019 Jetta gli with less than 500 miles equipped with the dsg (automatic) transmission - engine stalls out as soon as the speed of the vehicle reaches 0mph - whether on the highway (bumper to bumper traffic), stopped at red lights, stopped at stop signs, or changing gear to reverse in parking lot or street to get in driveway. The stalling happens regardless of the "auto stop start" feature being disabled or enabled, and happens approximately once every three or more complete stops but usually not for the first 3 when the car is first turned on. The car also makes an audible grinding sound when engine stalls. In all instances once the car has stalled it requires a manual restart by putting the vehicle back in park, and pressing the vehicle start button with brake depressed. In addition to the above stalling, the car has once turned off when started remotely and no passengers inside. I have approached the vehicle approximately 30 seconds after remote start was engaged, opened the truck, loaded a few items, and car turned off. A check engine light came on. Using a vag505 scanner I was able to find 01-engine fault code 15080 and 08-auto HVAC fault code 1048838. Videos of the aforementioned issues have been uploaded to youtube and can be made available via request.

2019 Jetta S with 1.4L engine and 8 speed automatic transmission, grinding noise when shifting from 4th to 5th under light load. Noise is audible in all drive modes but especially in eco or normal drive modes. Dealer said it was normal operation of the torque converter and that no further service was needed. This noise does not sound safe or healthy for the car or for the occupants within the car. Volkswagen needs to recall and fix these faulty torque converters before they damage cars or hurt someone.

2019 Jetta SE purchase date 9/28/19, loud rattle/vibration/ shudder undercar drivers side, always there on light load acceleration 1600-1800 RPM. Car shudders under load 30-40 mph, acceleration diminished to limp approx 5 seconds, engine keeps running, no stall but feels as though it is ready to stall. Inquired with dealer service department, has never heard of these concerns. Car feels unsafe with potential to stall on acceleration, driveline has loud rumble and shudder, worsening daily, todays mileage 590. Conditions are when running and under light load and highway merging acceleration. Car does not merge well due to reduced power that feels proportional and due to under car shudder.
