Location: State hwy 55, buffalo, mn, intersection with central avenue description of the issue: While stopping at the red light and applying the brake, the truck experienced a sudden acceleration burst. Even though the brake was fully applied, the engine was accelerating on its own and pushing the truck. At low speed (<5mph) and with the brake fully applied, the truck hit a stopped minivan in front of me and continue pushing it towards the intersection in bursts as I was depressing the brake pedal. After a few (three or so) brake push and release attempts, acceleration stopped and the truck (and the minivan) came to a full stop. The truck pushed the minivan for several feet. There is significant damage to a truck since the minivan had a bicycle rack installed. Except for the damaged bicycle rack, there is no observable damage on the minivan. After the truck came to a full stop, the traction control light was on and blinking for a short period of time, then it on. The front park assist light was also on. I was able to drive the truck to closes the safe parking location. I could not recreate braking related acceleration. Potential cause: A web search showed several reports of sudden acceleration bursts while applying the brake were reported on Dodge / Ram vehicles, including Ram 1500. The description of the problems was almost identical to this case. Safety concern: If I did not depress the brake several times which in my opinion stopped acceleration, the truck may have pushed the minivan into a busy intersection and cause a potentially serious accident.

For the second time in 3 months, while I was driving down the highway all my dash lights just came on and my truck started to accelerate on its own even with both feet off both pedals. Traction light, ABS light, parking light, throttle sensor light, and check engine light all stay on. (have picture and video) passenger side headlight also stopped working. Took to Ram dealership October I believe and they said PCM needed an update and they did that. Also replaced whole passenger headlight housing. Well yesterday December 15th same thing happened and I almost got into a wreck. Lights came on so I went to brake and pull over, nothing happened. Truck actually accelerated on its own from 40mph to 60mph. Took to dealership first thing this morning and they said they have no record of fixing any of these issues... wanted me to leave my truck for an unknown amount of time and but they couldn't get me a loaner or anything to get me to work. Said there was nothing they can do until I have time to leave it, pretty [xxx] so now im driving an unsafe truck on the highway to and from work. Kids and wife also drive/ride in this truck. (it wont let me upload the video) information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

I have a 2019 Ram 1500 I bought last year that now has 20,000 miles. Within 5,000 miles, I noticed brake noise issues and took the vehicle to the local dealership in Colorado springs, co (I bought the truck in leesburg, va). They told me everything from bad brake pads to rotors to mounts - after I refused to accept their claim of not being able to find anything. After taking it in approximately 6 or 7 times, they finally changed mounting assemblies, and the noise went away. However, I started getting a vibration between 45 and 60 miles an hour. I took it in again, and they said my tires needed to be rebalanced, rotated, and they suspected they had unusual wear somewhere. Of course, the person telling me this proceeded to show me my tires and noticed they were almost like new. He said they fixed it to the point it would only vibrate between 75 and 80 miles. Since then, the vibration still presents itself between 45 miles and up & now my brakes are squealing again.

To whom it may concern, in May 2020, I rented a 2019 Dodge Ram to facilitate a move from Illinois to Florida. 8 hours into the journey, the vehicle erupted into flames, nearly killing my son, fianc, myself and our puppy. Fortunately, someone driving behind us flagged us down when they noticed black smoke coming from the vehicle. We were able to safely escape, called 911, then had to watch as all of our personal effects and some valuables were destroyed by fire. That was on May 31, 2020, inspections were performed on the vehicle, with Ram being one of the parties involved in the inspection process. Unfortunately, the inspectors were unable to definitively say what happened, although they theorized that the rear, drivers side caliper may have seized up, resulting in the fire. Either way, nothing we could have done differently. While I am relieved that we were able to escape harm, it's upsetting that all of our keepsakes, personal effects and some valuables were destroyed. To add to the heartbreak, we have yet to hear from anyone acting on behalf of Ram. Considering the near miss we suffered, I would think that Ram would show some compassion and reach out to us. Very disappointing, I will never purchase a Dodge affiliated vehicle (again) in my life.

Truck was in motion on a city street at 40mph. Approached a stop light and the warning lights on the dashboard started going off (all of them). The windshield wipers went on and off by themselves, blinks didn't work, hazards didn't work, the RPM and mph gauges kept going up and down. The brakes didn't work so I had to use the emergency brake to stop. Pulled into a parking lot, shut the vehicle off, waited 5 minutes and started it up again. Same thing happened. Shut the vehicle off and waited 10 minutes, started it back up and this time only the check engine light came on. I made it home 2 miles down the road. The first business day available, the dealer came and picked up the truck. It has been with the dealership for the week. The called the other day and said something is wrong, they are unable to start the vehicle up now. They are waiting for an engineer to review it from the manufacturer.

I would have selected other issues above but it only allows three. Driving with family on vacation when all electrical on dash starting going crazy. Every light on dash was flashing, gauges were bouncing all over, hazards wouldn't turn on, loss of power steering, loss of brakes, wipers sped up, transmission trying to shift gears, airbag lights were on, transmission slammed in to park once vehicle was under 5 mph, and shut itself off. Had to have vehicle towed to york Chrysler in crawfordsville, in. This was on Thursday July 30. I had taken vehicle to bosak motors in merrillville, in on Friday July 24 due to same issue and was told they couldn't find the issue. I managed to videotape the issue while it was happening. I also looked online and found a couple videos of other Ram 1500 doing the same thing.

Brakes squeal when slowing down from 45 mph+ down to around 20-25 mph. At lower speeds, the squeal stops. Happens when going forward. Does not seem to happen right away, only after driving for about 5 minutes or more. Dealer could not replicate problem but it happens every time I drive the truck.

When rear sensor is activated, and backing up, automatic brake goes off without reason, causing safety concern. I believe this occurs when backing on grade (even slightly) like a driveway. Happens constantly. Only fix : deactivated rear braking option.

Started with telling me my tire was flat. I pulled over on the side of the highway which is dangerous and the tire was full of air. Then told me elcectroic brakes needed to be serviced. Not too long after that it kept telling me the four wheel drive is not working. I have never put the truck in four wheel drive. Also the ABS service light was flashing. Took it back to dealership 4 days after I bought it and they took it into their shop and 'fixed' it in a few minutes. Very next day everything started again. Took it back to dealership and they have kept it over the weekend. When I called them at lunch on Friday telling them I was bringing it back they asked me to wait til next week to bring it. This is their second chance to get it right. It has been a nightmare. I bought a truck because I have a small farm and I need it to feed and water my animals. They have had to go without water one day because I haven't had my truck 3 out of the first eight days after buying it. Also they didn't want to give me a receipt from when I brought it the first time until I had told them I had already called the ag office.

I was driving on I94 eastbound highway, I pressed the brake pedal to slow down for traffic then accelerated and the truck accelerated at full downpower. I lifted my foot off the accelerator, but the pedal stayed on the floor and the truck kept accelerating. I got up to 105mph in no time at all, then pressing on the brakes as hard as I possibly could so I didn't hit the vehicles in front of me. This slowed me down to about 60mph slowing the truck down enough to move from the far left lane to the far right shoulder, with the truck still at 5K plus rpms, I then was able to put the truck in neutral using the shifter knob. The vehicle then displayed the electronic throttle control warning light on the dashboard. During this whole time the accelerator was on the floor and the truck was trying to out power the brakes. I then powered off the vehicle entirely. I was then attempting to restart the vehicle to get myself off the unsafe shoulder of the highway and the throttle was still stuck to the floor and was ticking with error codes reading on the dashboard. I then turned the key back to the off position and had to wait over a minute in order for the truck to start so I could get off of the unsafe shoulder. This is a huge concern and I have stock floor mats in my vehicle. Component that failed was the electronic throttle control system. Took to Chrysler dealer stated nothing wrong with vehicle. I have video proof!

The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated that the brakes made a squeaking noise when the brake pedal was depressed. The issue occurred primarily when the vehicle was in reverse and whenever it rained, snowed, or any condition that caused the ground to be wet. The contact had to apply excessive pressure to the brake pedal to stop the vehicle. The contact called antioch Chrysler Dodge Jeep (located at 105 rt 173, antioch, il 60002, 847-787-7016), but they were unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 3,000.

Vehicle has adjustable height gas pedal and factory floor mats properly installed. After near-miss accident I found the gas pedal stuck down on a vertical rib of the floor mat. Pictures attached. When pedal height is adjusted full up or full down it can not reach floor mat. When adjusted mid range though, the pedal can reach the floor mat and stick to the top of the far right hand rib. I was pulling away from a 4-way stop going straight when the 395hp vehicle maintained violent acceleration. Pressing the brake I believe stopped the violent acceleration or decreased it significantly. I needed to touch the pedal again to get to a safe place and again just touching it caused violent acceleration. Regained control of the vehicle and pulled over and found the pedal stuck to the top of the rib. Was a few blocks from where I purchased the vehicle a few days before. Their resolution was to confiscate my floor mat and for me to go to a parts store to buy a new one for my $45,000 vehicle. See also ODI 11288197. Consumer stated have a lot of controls background and immediately assumed the braking cut back on the power and was very sure when it took off again. Consumer acrossed the intersection and had enough speed to make it to a safe place to pull over. Pulling up the pedal was not a viable option. Consumer forgot to determine if the engine button shuts off the engine immediately at speed.

Our vehicle has an intermittent problem with the breaks that showed up within a week after purchase. In the first month of ownership our breaks lock up when backing up for no apparent reason. To correct the problem the truck has to be put back into park and then into reverse again. The safety issue is it has happened when backing out of a parking spot and nearly getting hit because the breaks locked up. It has happened in our driveway as well with no other cars or other obstacles near. In the first month it has happened no less than 6 or 7 times.

Several times the vehicle brakes hard (as in locks up the brakes) when backing up and auto braking is enabled, but nothing is there. Same thing when driving forward, forward collision warning auto brakes when nothing at all is there, almost resulting in being rear ended at least twice before I turned it off.. at least I am able to turn it off. I kept the warning on, and it goes off all the time when I cross speed bumps or shadows from overpasses. This is extremely dangerous and continues after tsbs that are supposed to address. Another known issue that Ram isnt addressing publicly is brake squealing - there is an internal memo about it, but dealerships are not addressing it - it happens when you break lightly to slow down between 70-40 mph, but they can never seem to reproduce it at the dealer. I opened a case with Ram and they have done anything other than what the dealer did...I am most worried about the safety features causing an accident, please help! latest date the front collision warning activated when nothing was there was today. It happens all the time.

The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. While driving at night, the entire instrument panel illuminated and the power steering failed. The contact was able to pull over as the brakes were malfunctioning. The contact kept trying to turn off the vehicle and the instrument panel indicators kept flashing. After fifteen minutes, the vehicle finally started up and functioned normally while the indicators were still flashing. The manufacturer was contacted and advised the contact to call NHTSA. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 8,000.
