Consumer took a road trip and airbag light stayed on. Cruise control went out, and there was no horn. Dealer stated clock spring goes out of adjustment, drops contact, and everything drops down. Repair included removing airbag and steering wheel, cost $375 to fix. Consumer states the clockspring was replaced on 25-Jul-01 and until it had been replaced the airbag, cruise control, and horn were inoperable.

The airbag light stayed on and the horn failed to work. I took the vehicle to a dealer for an inspection. They said they found the D/S squib circuit open and clockspring inop. They replaced the clockspring{#4687630af} and seal pkg{cbxg8450}. the total cost was $217.18. I also had recall #845 corrected at this time as well. Two safety issues on the same vehicle is not a comforting situation. I am very concerned of the reliability of this vehicle as my wife is the primary driver to Transport my children. Your attention in this matter is greatly appreciated.

I needed to use my horn to warn another driver who was cutting in front of me and discovered that my horn would not work. My airbag light also was on. I tried other features and found that my cruise control would not work. I took the van to the dealer who informed me that I needed to replace my clock spring in order to get power to the nonworking features. I am reporting this as a result of an article in the news regarding your investigation of defective clock springs in daimler Chrysler vans 1996-2000.

When airbag light came on, horn stopped working, along with cruise control. Reported via phone immediately to service dept. Stated common failure. Able to diagnose over the phone. Told me "not to worry" because airbag would not deploy. Light indicated failure. Had to pay dealer $295.55 to have repaired.

I recently heard a news report on a local radio station that the government has launched an investigation into the combined failure of the air bag system, cruise control and horn on approx 3 million mini vans. Unfortunately, I suspect my van currently has this same problem. It has not been examined by my Chrysler dealer although I did contact them and they advised they were unaware of this type of problem and claimed to have not received any report from Chrysler about this. I also called Chrysler customer assistance and they too were "unaware" of any problems and simply documented my concern. I would like to know if Chrysler is indeed aware of multiple problems with this same failure or are they avoiding admitting to the investigation. I was quite suprised to read in my paper today about the investigation (EA01007) and how the symptems matched mine exactly. About 6 months ago, the air bag light illuminated apon start up and now stays on for the full duration of the drive. A few weeks after that, the cruise control began a bizzare on again, off again pattern. Each time you started the car, it was a crap shoot to see if cruise would be working. A few weeks after that, we noticed the horn no longer works. I'm leary of bringing the vehicle in for "diagnostics" considering some of the repair costs I've heard, associated with air bag system repairs. I would like to be advised as to what Chrysler response was and is regarding your announced investigation. Thank you.
