Complete loss of power steering the recall has been done for 2011-2012 Fusion and 2011 Milan. My 2010 Milan has the same exact parts and I can find all the same complaints of the steering going out on the 2010 year vehicals. I can't believe the NHTSA let Ford get away with when there is definitely a safety problem with the steering. I have had the problem both when just starting and while driving. These cars are not safe. It has happened many times to lots of people

My 2010 Mercury Milan power steering just went out for no reason. I was taking my husband to the airport and the first indicator was service power steering and when it came on and it just got tough to turn. Two days later another indicator service power steering now came on. I have researched and found out that there are plenty of people that have experience the same thing I have. They sent out a recall for the 2011S but we as owners of a 2010 are experiencing the same thing. Ford needs to sent out a recall for this problem because it can cause some serious wrecks and even death luckily I was able to drive home okay. Now I can barely turn the steering wheel so I am not driving this car.

While driving down the road loses all power steering there was a recall on the 2011 Mercury Milan which have all the same parts why wouldn't they recall the 2010 Milan? this has happened 3 times where the power steering will just go out than when I shut the car off and restart it works again. There is no way I would trust my wife or child driving this car.

Power steering assist failure that locks the steering wheel so the car cannot be driven. There is a recall for the 2011 - 2012 Mercury Milan #15V340000 but the recall does not include the 2010. This is a costly $1800 repair in which others have also complained about this very issue in the Milan.

While pulling into a parking lot from a city street in the middle of the turn the power steering on my 2010 Mercury Milan went out. It started with a warning on the display "service power steering now" followed by "service advance trac" along with the warning bells. The steering wheel was very difficult to turn but made it safely into a parking spot. Turned the car off and waited a few minutes. Turned the car back on and immediately received the "service power steering now" followed by "service advance trac" along with the warning bells. Took the car to the dealer and the power steering gear had to be replaced as it had failed. Spoke to the dealer as there was is a recall for the same item but only for certain 2011 Milan. The cost was over $1700 to replace.

There is a power steering assist failure that locks the car up and disables any driving abilities. I noticed there are recalls for this problem for the 2011 model of the Mercury Milan and the Ford Fusion which is the same vehicle.

On July 1st I was making driving on the frontage road in my 2010 Mercury Milan and all of a sudden my passenger tire blew out so I pulled over to check what happened and when I came back to the car "service power steering" and "service advance trac" were lit up on my dash board. We changed the tire to the spare but when we were ready to drive the steering wheel was very difficult to move side to side. Luckily a family member lived near by so we were able to take the car there but the steering wheel was still hard. The next day we went to go get a new tire to replace the spare thinking maybe it was the spare that caused the service messages to appear on the dashboard but even with the tire change the steering wheel is still not able to allow any sort of turning motion unless there is an extremely strong effort to turn it. I'm aware that this exact incident also happened to another customer. I'm also aware how there's a recall on the 2011 but not on the 2010. A recall needs to be given for this year also because I've seen many complaints about the electrical power steering and advance trac. It's not right for us to have to cough up 1000 to fix something that is a defect in the car. I still owe on this car and don't plan to just have it sitting there with no use to it and throwing money down the drain. Please investigate these incidents of power steering and advance trac on the 2010 Mercury Milan so we too can get the recall that we need!

January 15 2016 I was driving my 2010 milian, went to make a left turn and my steering went out, then my dashboard lit up saying service power steering and advance trac system needs attention, then my passenger front tire blew. Ive seen where the 2011 milian has had a recall on this same issue that my 2010 milian is now having, I havent been able to drive my car since January and I still have 3 years of payments on a car I can't drive. So please send out a recall notice for the 2010 milian so I can start driving my car again.

"service power steering now" "service advance trac" lights appeared while driving and nothing seemed to be wrong at that time and then turned back off. Turned car off and parked for over an hour. Started the car the lights flashed back on and the power steering went out. This is not covered under a recall even though the 2011 Mercury Milan is covered under the recall. Called Ford and they said the only way to even have this covered is to pay a fee for the car to be diagnosed under the recall and have it sent in to the special service support center. They may not cover the issue, even though all the other related vehicles have been recalled for this same issue. I am still paying on my car and should not have to fork over $2000 for this to be repaired when others don't have to pay a dime for the same exact thing.

"service power steering" appeared on dashboard while driving. I had noticed the car seemed to be pulling to the right but power steering was working. I then parked for awhile and when I restarted the car the warning stated "service power steering now" with also a warning stating "service advancedtrac". now when I tried to drive, the power steering was completely out. I was able to drive it home but it is not a condition to drive with on a regular basis. I looked on the internet and saw this model Milan 2010 was subject to recall for power steering failure: Ford recalls nearly 423,000 vehicles for power steering problem. Associated press "in October, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration began investigating complaints of power-steering failures on three Ford Motor Co. Midsize car models. The probe covered 938,000 Ford Fusion and Lincoln mkz cars from the 2010 through 2012 model years, as well as the 2010 and 2011 Mercury Milan. According to a class-action lawsuit filed in June about the matter, the problem could affect more Ford models, including the compact Focus." www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-Ford-recall-20150527-story.html but when I called Ford and gave my VIN they said my model wasn't covered. But again after a web search I saw numerous consumer complaints about this potentially dangerous problem on this 2010 Milan model: www.carcomplaints.com/Mercury/Milan/2010/steering/steering.shtml so if the very same problem occurred on my model that occurred on other models that were covered, I think this model year of the Milan should also be covered. I think it is notable in the la times article it said other models may be effected. So even though the 2010 Milan wasn't covered previously, common sense will prevail and it will be covered.

Electronic power steering failed. Vehicle became difficult to steer for my daughter driving the car. She was driving on local streets. The effort for steering was increased greatly and could have led to an accident. She managed to pull over safely. There is a current recall on the 2011 Mercury Milan #15V340000 that is for the same issue. Steering gear was replaced to resolve issue.

I was backing out of a parking spot and when I put it in drive, the steering wheel became difficult to turn and the dashboard stated " service advance trac". after pulling over and checking everything out. I was able to drive it without power steering to a family members house. After leaving the car there for a few days, I started it up and everything seemed fine. I am concerned driving this car given that it seems to be a common problem.

While attempting to make a turn in an intersection the power steering suddenly failed on the car. Vehicle was traveling at approximately 15mph at the time of the incident. Afterwards the "power steering failure" and "service advancetrac" lights were displayed. Incident nearly resulted in an accident. This is a serious safety issue. Upon investigation I have found that the same issue occurred on the 2011-2012 Mercury Milan with the same part as the problem (steering motor sensor) that resulted in a recall for those model/years. As it is the same part it should fall under this same recall, however it doesn't. this part is contained within the rack and pinion system requiring replacement of the entire system at a cost of $1800-$2000.
