This is the second time in 2 years I am going to be getting my transmission rebuilt. I am very disapointed in the ordeal and that by researching I have come accross numerous comlaint site on the web about the forth generation 626 transmition failures. Feel free to email.

Consumer had to replace transmission at 41000 miles. Presently, at 68000 miles transmission blewout again. Mazda was paying for transmission, charging consumer for labor only. Consumer felt that Mazda was admitting there was a defect in transmission.

The transmission failed in early November with no warning. It was replaced at an authorized Mazda dealer, about two weeks later the transmission failed again. It felt like I was driving on gravely ground the front end was shaking violently. The transmission was replaced again by the Mazda dealer and the service rep said that the failure was due to a faulty transmission. Now the vehicle presently needs the transmission replaced again. When I shift from reverse or park to drive it jerks violently into gear, then it hesitates to accelerate. When it finally does accelerate it jerks off into gear. The O/D light continuously flashes.

Mazda Corp. Denies knowledge of any problems with transmissions. Mazda dealership acknowledges 626's have transmission faults due to radiators being too small and causing transmission to overheat., but denies any responsibility. Advised external coolant should be attached after repair. Via this website, numerous complaints exist. Does Mazda not read this website? customer very dissatisfied with Mazda. Went out on interstate. Independent mechanic also aware of 626's transmission's reputation. Mazda has been notified, but says nothing will be done to recall transmissions. To-date this is the 274th complaint filed on this website. When will action be taken; and not the consumer be taken!!!

I had already replaced transmission once in 1998, and now again in September it failed again, and the cd4E transmission in this vehicle has a very bad reputation.. the only warranty I got for the first replacement was 12 months... I am tired of replacing the transmission, and the car is only 5 years old, this is getting ridiculous.. Mazda/Ford should've recalled this transmission a long time ago... I believe I have spent more on the transmission than what the car is worth.... thank you for you attention.

Dealership advised that transmission had codes of 628 torque convertor solenoid locked up and code 657 fluid over temp, and that transmisson oil dark in color. Need to replace transmission cost of $2650. No problems with car other than O/D off light flashing. Car shifted normal.

My transmission has gone out for the 2nd time in 5 years, the O/D light flashes consistently and the gears do not want to shift. The car jerk and hestitates when driving. I cannot believe that Mazda has not done a recall on these vehicles. These tranmissions are so dangerous and it seems no one cares. What do we as consumers have to do to get a recall on theses vehicles.

My vehicle started with jacking motions and the steeting wheel kept veering. Then the vehicle started to reverse even though it was in drive but it was not accelerating at all. Vehicle was reversing and not on a hilly area either. I had to shut the vehicle offf complete to stop the motion. I have to tell you, this was very scary. It was a good thing my speed was low. I almost hit someone because the vehicle was reversing insteading of going forward. I later found out the transmission had completely blown out prematurely, the gas pump broken with pieces still inside. I couldn't believe it because my car is just barely five years old.
