GUY AT PARTS COUNTER JUST LAUGHED! On going problem that they have no control over and Jeep doesn't seem to care.

Jeeps stance is " if it doesn't cause a danger we don't warranty it"

Well I bought my 2007 Jeep Liberty used about a month ago. Just made my 1st payment. I had it for less than a week & out went the rear passenger window. I was on vacation at that time. Covered it with plastic til I came back home. Then got the window back up & used duct tape to hold it. After looking online, that's when I noticed all the complaints about the windows. I came across an article saying the window was covered under an extended warranty. I took it to the dealer, they checked it out & verified that yes it was covered but they had to order the part. That was this past Thurs. Well Sun. the front passenger fell down. Mon. morning I call the dealer & tell them about that. They informed me that my part is in. I asked if it was the same cheap part? Am I going to continue to have this problem? He says they are actually putting a repair kit on it & they haven't had complaints on it. So we shall see! Now they have to order another kit. I have to keep leaving work early for these repairs.....I wish they would just repair them all at once. They won't do nothing until it goes out. Never paid any attention before but there are many jeep liberty's riding around with plastic over the window....Now I know why.

I have had my 2007 Jeep Liberty since May 2008. In March 2009, the rear window on the driver's side slid down (and could not be raised manually or by the power window button) and the door was stuck closed - and could not be opened. It was covered by my extended warranty, but that was a joke as the warranty company paid $54 and I paid $261. Then in December 2010, I received the letter about the window regulators and window lift plate repairs. Thought I could be reimbursed through Chrysler. Wrong...they will only pay for the window lift plate - not the window regulator. This really pisses me off because if it were not for a faulty window regulator, the window lift plate could be working fine.

It gets better, the same thing happened again yesterday. Window is open - door is stuck part open because the regulator cable is caught in the door mechanism. Only this time my extended warranty is expired (but did not save me much anyway). And apparently the window regulator/window lift plate warranty letter X27 was just sent for show and they do not plan to stand behind it. The window lift plate repair requires a new window regulator and that is not covered!

There is no recall because it is not a safety issue. So, since my door is partly open, if it comes completely open while I am driving down the interstate at 65 mph - will it become a safety issue then?

If anyone has a better way to deal with these window issues - please enlighten me. My next vehicle will not be a Jeep if I have anything to say about it.

The window just stopped working. In the middle of the winter I had to drive with my drivers side window down until I could get the window fixed. Then I am told that I would have to pay a deductible because my warranty had already expired. Then it happened again to my drivers back window and my passengers back window. I am currently on vacation and have nowhere nearby to get this fixed. It is raining cats and dogs almost everyday. I will be filing 2 more complaints.

This is the third complaint I am making on the same issue as the windows in my car don't seem to want to say up. First the front drivers window in January then the back drivers window then 2 days later the other back window. I am on vacation and it is raining like cats and dogs and I have to put a tarp over my window and can't drive anywhere. this is a real pain and I can't get this fixed until I go back home because no one in the area can fit me in!

Second time window reg problem for me. First time covered this time not. Jeep does not stand behind their product. Have also had the "known" valve problem with my jeep. If you don't know about that one check it out. It has to do with carbon build up on the valves that Jeep also knows about but will not cover. There is even a service memo for their techs which indicates there is a valve problem. That one is about $1500-$2000 to fix. Time for a new vehicle from anyone other than Jeep.

I bought my Jeep new in 2007. So far only driver side back window dropped down...While I was alone on a trip! Dealer repaired under warranty but now front side passenger window is making some odd noises. It stutters sometimes and I am just waiting for it to drop also. I am the only person who drives my Jeep and am disappointed by this problem and was glad to receive notice for extended warranty for this problem for 7 years. I was concerned because I could not afford to repair all the windows and I love my little silver Jeep and do not want to give it up.

This is the third time I have visited Tempe Dodge to have the regulator(s) replaced. They claimed to have a new version of the part that would prevent such problems, but as of two days ago I had one regulator break and another one starting to give.

I called and they confirmed a mailing I got from Chrysler last week indicating that the part would be covered for an additional seven years from the date of the letter. So no charge. Still, I'm reluctant to even use my windows because of this issue.

Not sure I will buy this make again, either.

I purchased this piece of crap brand new. Shortly after purchased began having problems with window. I have had this vehicle in for 9 window repairs. They Started wanting to charge me after the 5th repair. I refuse to pay and yelled long and hard to anyone who will listen. Do not feel safe going anywhere in this vehicle and will never purchase anything from Chrysler, Dodge or Jeep.

Window #1, Drivers window just fell for no reason. Mechanic who repaired it said it was a widely known problem but hadn't been affected by a recall. Required replacement of window regulator assembly.

Window Regulator Failure #3, Driver side rear window pane fell while vehicle was parked. (Failures 2 and 3 happened within 1 week and I couldn't afford the approximately $900 repair cost to replace them). My mechanic reported again that this was a well known issue for Jeep and they had redesigned the regulator assembly such that both the regulator and window pain needed to be changed as a single unit. Clearly this is proof that they sold a substandard product but still didn't issue a recall.

OK, the first window regulator for the driver's side rear window went bad within a few days after I'd bought the vehicle with mileage around 24,000. Even though it's a 2007 Jeep Liberty the low mileage meant that the bumper to bumper warranty was still in effect. So the dealership replaced the window and regulator at no charge to me. Then with around 27,000 miles on it, the driver's side front window went bad. Window wouldn't stay up even when manually forced up. But this time the warranty was gone due to the time expiring in May 2010. The "fix" is rubber shims put in by the dealer, but of course, the window cannot be used. The dealer told me there is supposed to be a recall on these sorry pieces of s--t by the end of 2010 according to their sources. It's Dec16, 2010 and I've heard nothing yet. When is Chrysler going to act responsibly and recall to replace these poorly designed regulators with new design. My dealer tells me he has a backlog of hundreds of customers with the Jeep Liberty problem and that's only one dealer in a small Georgia town. I'm through with Chrysler products, period, unless these are replaced through recall. and it needs to happen very soon.

This issue should have been recalled by Jeep by now. If you google this issue, you will find thousands of unhappy customers. The faulty regulators break, even while driving and the window just falls and disappears into the door. Imagine driving down the highway in the winter months with your newborn in the back car seat and a window falls open. In one year, all four windows have needed a replaced window regulator. Regular cost, $500 each at the very least. We have a friend who graciously gave us a discount at $300 each. Still unacceptable. Jeep is aware of this problem and has dismissed it with no recall. Our tax dollars bailed them out, the least they could do is repay the tax payers for their errors. I not only want a refund, I would like a personal apology from Jeep given to everyone who has had to deal with this issue as well. I will never own another Jeep/Chrysler again for the simple lack of acknowledgment.

Window #4, this time it's the right front passenger door. Now I have run out of door stops and will have to buy more, except it's not going to be easy to hide the fact that I have a defective window from a potential thief because the Driver and Front Passenger windows are not tinted like the rear passenger windows. So, now I am really ticked and want this resolved by Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge... or whoever in the he!! can fix this. I can forgive one window repair, but now that all 4 have failed in the same year... absolutely NOT acceptible and I shouldn't have to spend another dime on fixing this.

I bought this car brand new and have been really happy with it until now. I shouldn't have to repair windows on a car that is less than 4 years old. If I would have bought a Honda, I know I would not be having this issue and having to complain anywhere possible to let people know how crappy american made cars can be. The wear and tear on my car is minimal since 95% of the time it's only me in the car. Therefore the passenger doors are not opened and closed very often. I want this fixed by the manufacturer. If they ever want repeat business, then they better make a more reliable product. I do not feel safe in this car and now I have worry about possible interior damage because the rainy season is fast approaching. I am a completely and totally dissatisfied Jeep owner and after this... I will definitely think twice before I buy any American made car...

Window #3, this time it's the left rear passenger door. I have managed to keep the window up with two $.99 door stops because I don't have another $440.00 to fix this repair. It's bad enough that one was already fixed, now a third one. While I like my Jeep liberty, I am really having buyers remorse. If I would have bought a Honda, I know I would not be having this issue and having to complain anywhere possible to let people know how crappy american made cars can be. The wear and tear on my car is minimal since 95% of the time it's only me in the car. Therefore the passenger door is not opened and closed very often. I want this fixed by the manufacturer.
