Absolutely ridiculous to have all four windows taped shut and can not open any of them because of the regulators breaking and the windows have fallen into the door. I have had to open the door panel and hoist the window back into position and then seal it up with tape, that keeps losing it's effectiveness in the heat of the summer and I cone out of work, out of a store, or out of the house only to find the window has slide down again....... and again............ and again.......

This is my 3rd time getting a window fixed that was not mistreated or in any type of collision. This is the 2nd time getting the Driver's side window fixed beause of a lift plate/regulator failure. It is going to gost $303 before taxes. Not only is in time consuming, I shouldn't have to pay for a KNOWN ISSUE. There are numerous reports on the failure of these windows and windows falling into doors. I passed a vehicle yesterday with duct tape holding two of the windows up. I don't use the back windows very often because I have no kids, I drive w/the windows up mostly due to allergies and only lower the windows when airing out the vehicle, or going to the drive through. I also have a 2nd car that I may drive more often than this Jeep due to gas mileage efficiency. I want to be reimbursed for this repair. The vehicle was not mistreated. Your parts are not efficient and I shouldn't have to pay for your bad parts and known issue. If it's a known defect. you need to take responsibility for it. Put a recall on this or extend the warranty for this defect or fix your parts if they're not working. Doctor's don't give patient's bad hips and then say you have to pay for a new one becuase it's out of warranty. And if they do, they find themselves part of a class action law suit.

This is the third window regulator that has failed in the last year. This time the dealer said they will have to repair all of them because of an apparent recall on the part. What makes this so funny (If it wasn't for the cost and loss of use) this is the same dealer that repaired the other two windows within the last year. Don't they keep records or was their repair not done properly? This is the last Jeep/Chrysler product that I will ever buy!!!!!!!

Both window fell within a week apart, the cost is too much and mechanics told us the arm and motor should have been recalled, just keep complaining until they do. My son has a 2005 and he is having the same problems as well as my dad and his is a 2004. The parts must be made better than this.

Update from Nov 4, 2014: Not only do my windows not work now my engine lights on this jeep After 87000 miles nothing but trouble.had to take my car to the dealership and they said the windows Parts that I needed were not under warranty. So after leaving the car dealership not only did the window is not making any noises at all they disconnected the motor and they tore my door panel off and buttons inside that hold it on

This is round three of all four of my windows falling into the door panels. It starts with them going slower than normal when you put them up and down until it just drops into the door panel. It's getting old and at over $350 per window it's also expensive.Fix it right the first time. Better yet build it right the first time.

First time (on my third window now) that the regulator went out. driver's side. I paid to replace it, back in 2010. Now, 6 months ago I had it happen to the rear window while the dealership was detailing it. It broke while a guy was CLEANING it. and today, it's in the shop again for a regulator on the front passenger side. Chrysler will only replace the lift plate and NOT the REGULATOR! Yet both dealerships I have had replace this say it's the regulator each time.

Rear passenger window regulator went out. Called Chrylser, they said the Chrysler warranty is only for the X27KJ Lift plate. That is the plastic piece that everyone is complaining about in the forums breaking that supports the window weight. It's NOT the regulator that Chrysler extended the warranty on, it's ONLY the lift plate. My dealership said it was the regulator, not the lift plate and I paid $216.45 for a new one plus $60 for diagnostic. I believe my dealership to a point that it was really the regulator and not the lift plate because they said they have to send all parts back to Chrylser and that they use to cover the regulators but Chrysler revoked that coverage and changed it to only the lift plates. However, after watching videos on how to replace this myself, it became obvious that the plastic part that breaks is not noticeable unless you take the whole regulator apart, and then, it's a small cylinder that holds the coil that makes the window go up and down. Well my jeep is back in the shop today, 6 months later with a different window and the same problem and I'm hoping it's the lift plate so it's covered because nothing else about the window regulator will be.

First time happened to driver side window in february 2012 i froze my ass off had NO choice but to have it repaired immediately at a cost of $250.00 .

Second time it happened was back passenger on drivers side that was in April 2013 i was leaving for vacation on my way to the airport when it happened had to have friends come get the car i could not leave it at airport lot for fear of theft. At a cost of $250.00

Third time happened rear passenger side on January 4 2014 in an ice storm while i was driving but this time i really didnt have the extra $300.00 to lay out immediately after the christmas season so as of right now i have taped it up with clear packing tape and i am driving around like white trash.. extremely aggravating and costly .

Went out to start my car at 5 am before leaving at 5:15 because temp was 12 degrees. I was going to open both front windows a crack. When I operated the switch for the Passenger side window, I heard a loud metalic pop, and the window dropped about 5 inches. I had to lift the window back up and tape it in place, until I can get the regulator fixed next week. This is the second time in two years that my regulator on the front right broke. About 6 weeks ago I had to replace the driver side regulator for the 3rd time. The dealer charges about $325.00 for the part, and they want $110 labor to put it in. I usually buy the part and take it to Hixson Auto Glass. They charge $50.00 to change the part, and they have me in and out in 30 minutes. When I had the dealer repair it, I had to leave the vehicle twice until the following day. These repeated window regulator problems pose a safety hazard, they are expensive, and Chrysler should redesign a reliable replacement instead of selling us the same defective piece of crap over and over again at inflated prices. I will update when I have the final cost of this repair.

I am writing to share with you my thoughts and feelings about one of your vehicles. For 20 years the only vehicles I purchased were ones made by General Motors. I have had several different GM vehicles over the years. Three years ago I decided to try something different. I purchased a 2007 Jeep Liberty. I was immediately impressed with the vehicle. It was the best driving vehicle I had ever owned because it is the only vehicle that I was able to drive safely in unfavourable winter conditions. I never felt this comfortable when I was driving GM vehicles if the weather was unfavourable. Unfortunately, my experience with this vehicle has been less than desirable. In the three years that I have owned this vehicle I have had all 4 window regulators replaced. The cost for labour and parts was $550 -$580 per window. I am a single parent and I simply cannot afford such ludicrous and outrageously expensive upkeep. On top of that, I have the right to feel that my vehicle is safe and reliable which I no longer have. I do not use the windows for fear they will break and incur more repairs I cannot afford. Can you imagine being in a vehicle that you cannot roll up/down the windows and have to constantly remind your kids that they are not allowed using them? Imagine being limited in what you can do in your vehicle such as not being able to use a drive through due to defective and unreliable windows. The third window that I had replaced was approximately 13 months ago. When the repair was completed I had to return it to the dealer, Durham Dodge Chrysler (799 Bloor St Oshawa, Ontario) within a week. I informed the dealer that it still was not working properly. I was told it was fine and nothing was done to address my concerns. Since that day the window has made noises which started out as faint and have now progressed to very distinct and loud rattling noises. Recall that I previously stated that the window is rarely used, out of fear it will break. I know that this window regulator will break in the immediate future and now it is just a waiting game. The most recent window regulator was replaced earlier this month. The service I received was deplorable. When I called to book the repair, I stated the problem and that I needed to have the repair done as I could not drive around with a broken window. I dropped the vehicle off in the morning and received shuttle service to my work. Sometime that morning, I received a voice mail from a staff at the dealership calling to confirm the price and if I wanted to proceed with the repair. What I find so offensive, is that they have a record of the previous two repairs that they have done on the vehicle in the last two years. The record clearly indicates the price that I was charged. It was offensive and insulting to have someone call to confirm it was okay to proceed with the repair even though it was previously established. When the driver dropped me off at my work, I wrote my name and time of pick up. After my work ended I had to wait outside in the cold for 30 minutes. I waited for approximately 20 minutes and then I had to call the dealership and remind them that I needed a shuttle back to the dealership to pay for my repairs and retrieve my vehicle. Although this vehicle is the best for driving that I have ever owned, I will not ever again purchase a Jeep vehicle. In all the years of owning a GM vehicle I have never had to replace a window regulator. In my experience, Jeep put in cheap substandard equipment and replaced the defects with yet again cheap substandard products all the while charging top dollar for the labour. In all good conscience, I cannot recommend this company or vehicle to anyone that asks. My experience has been very costly and undesirable.

Regards

regulators fail prematurely

Well, the first incident of one of my windows "falling off track" was 5-6 months ago on the passenger driver's side: it only slides down about 1/4 of the way, so that is tolerable. However, on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, the driver's side "fell off track" & it won't stay up at all: it falls 1/2 -3/4 of the way down, even when my Jeep is not moving!

The only reason I found out about this issue with the window regulators is because I Googled on how to repair & all these complaints populated.

Why would such a reputable manufacturer not do what is right & do a recall to repair is irritating, annoying, non-consumer fault, ongoing issue?!

This baffles my mind!!!

Received extended Window Lift Plate repair from Chrysler letter 12/15/2010 up to 7 years for 2006-2007 Liberty. Throughout the letter it uses the term window regulator and that the dealer will inspect the window regulators for proper operation and repair if necessary. The dealer told me it was just for Window Lift Plates not regulators though the paper says window regulator twice. It also says vehicles have experienced repeat concerns with window components. Called Chrysler the women saw the same letter I received and was confused also until she saw an extra note saying for just lift plates. Consumers were not sent any follow up notice to this letter. Chrysler is just weaseling out of the repair. I will never purchase a Chrysler product again.

The first window just slid down in the door as I arrived home from work. The second window sounded like the glass was being grinding. The third window fell down in the door as it was going halfway up. The fourth window got stuck while I was driving on the freeway, it started to rain, then the window fell down in the door. So I was inconvenienced 10 hours with out my car because Jeep used CHEAP parts!

Update from Apr 18, 2014: I meant to state my window regulators failed at 9,000 miles!

Update from Nov 5, 2014: I had to get my fourth window regulator repaired JUST AFTER the deadline Chrylser alllowed you to be reimbursed! Which is utter hogwash, they should repairing them FREE for the life of the vehicle because of their poor quality control and cheap parts!

6 Months after replacing the 1st window regulator another goes out. Now the biggest problem is the price to fix them have went from about $250 to $350. However the dealer is still charging $400 plus. I mean come REALLY, we can all see that this is a Jeep problem and Jeep started out replacing them only to change to replace the part that is breaking the least, The Lift plate, this is a POOR excuse of Jeep not standing behind the cheap product.

While driving down the street with the windows down it starts to rain, so of course we let the windows up and "POP". The back window sounds and starts to fall back down. A real pain in the ass when you have 3 small kids riding in the back it is raining and no way to let the window up. Manage to tape the window up until we can get it fixed which worked minus the part about being able to use the window.

All four of my windows, the front driver side, the front passenger side and the back left and right side window regulators needed to be replaced. had to pay to get fixed all together was 500.00 each time had to fix it so I end up paying 2000.00 dollar to fix all the windows. I think they should do a recall or refund our money for having to fix these windows everytime the regulator breaks

This is the 4th time the window regulators have failed in my Jeep, and the second time on this window. I first brought the car to the dealer and was told the extended warranty (for which I received a letter), only covered the lift plates and not the regulators. And that I would have to pay $358 for the repair.

I called Chrysler corporate to complain, and was given the run around, and told it was not covered. Although the letter sent on December 15, 2010, clearly states...."Your dealer will inspect the window regulators for proper operation and repair if necessary." It goes on to say "If you've already experienced this window regulator concern and have paid to have it repaired, you may be eligible to receive reimbusement." This is a letter sent out by Chrysler, and the letter states that the dealer WILL make necessary repairs, so I believe Chrysler should be LEGALLY held accountable and pick up all the costs associated with repair. Not to mention the fact that the part is faulty, they know it and continue to replace it with the same piece, and that it is the 4th time on my vehicle that this has happened. (And from the thousands of complaints that I have seen on the internet, I am assuming I am not alone here.) I was told by the representative that the sentence "means" the dealer CAN replace it...WILL and CAN are two different words. I will not let the dealer make the repair, and will take my Jeep elsewhere.

The customer service, and lack of "stand behind your product" mentality is appalling. Even a call from a supervisor takes over 24 hours. Seriously?!?

I question my decision to purchase a Jeep product again (I owned one previously). And seriously wonder how this problem is going to effect the resale value of my car. It can almost be labeled a "Lemon" as I read that if the problems do in fact effect the resale value, then the car can be considered under the "Lemon Laws." This is crazy, just fix the actual part and none of this would be necessary. I WILL never, eventhough I CAN, ever buy a Chrysler, Jeep, or Dodge Ram product again, and will give the same advise to anyone else!

The regulator (I believe, a friend who propped the back window up told me that is what it was) fell apart. I was ready to drive somewhere the other day and noticed my rear right window half way down. I went to physically slide it up since the button didn't work and it just fell. Was told it could possibly be off of its track so I had a friend's husband look at it and it turns out the regulator is no longer working. He ended up propping it up somehow. Now for the time being it will be fine, but I am waiting for the other one to do the same since both windows were giving me issues.
