Rear driver window regulator broke after no more that TEN uses. Dealing with the dealer is a joke. Bought a replacement regulator from Amazon made by Dorman and replaced myself. Part # 748-571. Downloaded instructions from two different websites and did go fairly easily. (I fix garage doors for a living and consider myself "sorta" competent). BOTH rear windows stopped working on our daughter-in-law's 2007 Liberty. Just fixed her drivers side and waiting for two passenger side regulators to arrive from Amazon. I did notice that on both of our Libertys that the rear driver windows did NOT slide smoothly and freely in the guides by hand. It acts as if the window glass and door are different profiles. To me, that becomes a manufacturing defect and should be covered under warranty.

Here we are AGAIN!!! This will be my 5th time to the dealership to get one of the Window Regulators fixed.

This time it was the Drivers Window, while my wife was driving in 95 degree heat and stuck in traffic. Oh Yeah, tonight is going to be fun, hearing about this. Hopefully she doesn't rant during NBA Game 4 Warriors against Cleavage. If so, that'll be a separate complaint filed under WomenComplaints.com.

So, looks like I'll be driving across town to the stealership early in the morning, just to sit in their waiting room with other grumpy people but it usually gets fixed around noon time. This time, I'm bringing a hot plate so I can make Eggs and Bacon for breakfast and a small hammock to nap in. (sure would be nice if the dealership could build hotel rooms right above the Service Repair shop).

I sometimes wonder if all these Recalls are not fixed permanently so the Customer has to keep coming back for repairs and well, while you're there, why not have other problems fixed too. What a Marketing tool that would be.

Well, after 5 times to the Dealership to get the Window Regulators Fixed and once to my regular mechanic garage to have the engine rebuilt and all under 30K miles. We've owned Jeeps throughout out 30yrs of marriage and now my wife wants a BMW, so I think we'll sell both our Jeeps and invest in the world of BMW's.

Okay...so it's now 6 years later and the same window regulator failed again. Got an estimate at the dealer for $400+ to fix -- GIVE ME A BREAK!!!! I am very short on money right now, and even if I wasn't, this is a DEFECT!!! It should be fixed for free EVERY TIME IT BREAKS!!! Chrysler added a 7 year extended warranty on this issue for 2007 Jeep Liberty but that expired 1 year BEFORE it broke a 2nd time.

I am so tired. This is the the third window that I will have to see about being repaired or replaced. I will fight tooth and nail to get this problem fixed at no cost to me, even if I have to take them to court. I have an appt on the 28th at my local repair shop to see what can be done. Why does this keep happening to all these 2007 Jeep Liberty's? I have talked to others who have purchased a 2006-07 Libertys and they all say the same, and dealing with the same issues.

Liberty Limited 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 29,000 miles

2007 Liberty with only 29,000 miles, only driven by me, no one has ever yet sat in the backseat. The rear drivers side window started slipping down about a year ago. I was at a medical appt, came out and the window was halfway down. I was always able to manually pull it back up and it never slipped down more than a few inches. Now the rear passengers side window has fallen down completely inside the door. The window was not being used, the Jeep wasn't even occupied -- it was parked at the grocery store. So now both rear windows do not work, and the passenger side is taped up with a trash bag.

I realize the Jeep is 8 years old, but it is basically new. I don't use it off-road, I don't drive kids around in it. It's pretty much just being used by a little old lady (me) to get to the doctors and grocery stores. I've had the rear windows down MAYBE 3 times at most.

I called the dealer yesterday to schedule the repair. They won't give me even a rough estimate over the phone. They close at 5PM. I cannot get a ride home at that time, and I can't bring it later and leave it parked on the street since the window is down.

I did contact Jeep Customer Service today and they are informing the dealer that I will be bringing the vehicle in and that I am seeking what they called "Cost Assistance" to repair both windows. I am responsible to pay for the diagnostic; the dealer will then inform Jeep and they will make a decision to cover the repair or any part of it. I do expect that even after these repairs, one or more windows will have to be repaired again over the life of the vehicle.

I am trying to schedule repair of the other 2 recall problems for the same time --- rear lower control arms and trailer hitch/gas tank. Whether I can get all done at once depends on the availability of parts by the dealer. I am very disappointed. This is my 2nd Jeep and will be my last.

I've lost track of how many times a window on this vehicle had fallen into the door. Even after the recall, they will only fix it after it breaks. My expiration date was August 18th. My window failed again August 20th. So guess what. I get to pay for the repair again! I paid for it multiple times before the recall. They did pay for a couple since the recall. Why didn't they just replace them all since it was a known problem!? It really sucks to have to pay for this again!

I love my Jeep but I will never but another one. It's too expensive to fix this problem every year. In the 7 years I have owned my jeep I have not gone a full year without having to fix at least one of the windows, some years it's two or three. Absolutely ridiculous. I called the recall center but because I am a few days past my personal expiration date they can't help me. They want the dealer to pick up the tab. Of course they can't do anything until I pay for a diagnostic. I don't need a diagnostic! Is the same thing it always is. And in case you think my problem stems from kids playing with the windows, my daughter is 21 years old so I have no kids messing with the controls. It's so very frustrating!

This now the second time the window regulator has failed on the left side passenger's door. I am the only person that uses this vehicle 95% of the time. No one sits in the back seat hardly ever and yet this one has now broke twice. I like my car, but hate the windows.

This is now the 3rd time the right side passenger backseat window regulator has failed. I am now unable to even open this door due to the issue at hand. I cannot have any passengers in the back seat because I am unable to open either door due to the window regulator issues on both doors (previous complaint submitted for the other door/window). I just want it fixed for good but don't feel I should be paying for it since it is a known issue with this faulty part.

Update from Dec 21, 2016: Issue has reoccurred on 3 of 4 doors. Using same solution noted in item 4

This happens on one of the coldest days of the year! I've had three Jeeps and each of them have had this problem with the repair costing me around $500 - $600! This will be the last Jeep I own! It is one of the most expensive vehicles to repair.

Update from Nov 16, 2014: The window is now in a permanently open position! I haven't the $$ to fix this. I now hate Jeeps!

I was just driving down the street and I heard air coming in the truck, then I tried to roll the window up with the button, all I hear was grinding, then the window just dropped down in the door when I got on the freeway and it scared the sh*t out of me. The dealership wanted $400 to fix it so I had the window taped up for a month and a half, which has messed up my tint on the window and it keeps falling when I hit a bump.

You all knew it was problems with the window regulator, why wasn't a recall on it and why should I have to pay $400 for it. Now I have to wonder if the other window is going to do the same thing ( RAINING or SNOWING). I had to find a place that sells the part, then I had to find somebody to repair it. I went to a shop the ordered the wrong part and told me I had to wait a few weeks to get the right part.

I'm still waiting for the hitch the dealer was suppose to put on my truck, it's been 3 years, no one called me back, when I call they say they have to order the hitch. But they want you to make your payments and on time.

I rolled door window to let hot air out, and it made a loud sound when went to roll it up. Window would only move by hand, so I taped it until I could get the dealer. I called customer care center, they said if it was the lift plate, it is covered til September, but if it is the regulator which it is, It is not covered, as notified by the dealer! They wanted to fix it for $450. They said the cable broke and the replacement and installation would be $450, which probably doesn't include labor. So much for the bumper to bumper warranty. My window is still taped today til I come up with the money, really limits travels. Does anyone have the part number I would need. I found this part number, SP13006.

I am ready to put Jeep on the news for not standing behind its vehicles, unreal. I found this on Steigerperformance.com. Has anyone used this site before? I have found a place that can replace it for half. I just want to make sure I have the right part before ordering. I've checked out others. $33-$99.95. The will be my last Jeep anything. So much for buying and American, and buying what one of my former company brands! The worst time, like things aren't hard for me already.
