The Uconnect has delimanted and is causing the display to jump around. Driving on the expressway the back-up camera kept coming on, the heat and warming features jump around, the Uconnect makes calls, it has tried calling the SOS number. This is a known issue and Jeep should be working with their customers to fix.
The screen on the car-??s infotainment system is delaminating and I cannot use the touch screen in the delaminated areas. This is preventing hands-free capabilities while driving since touch is the only way to navigate the system and posing a safety hazard. It is preventing access to the federally mandated backup camera and vehicle controls. The touch screen will sometimes -??ghost touch-?? options without the user touching the screen, causing the system to randomly turn on the radio, make calls, activate climate control, and more. It is progressively getting worse and is present in many other 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokees. It is a manufacturing defect causing distractions while driving and should be recalled.
8.4 radio screen is delaminating, the delaminating and causing safety issues while driving. If cold out the heated seats stay on even after warming up, cannot turn off due to screen ghosting/flickering. I purchased to Jeep brand new from Military Auto Sells in South Korea. Tried to get it repaired here in Korea under my warrantee, was told it did not fall under my warrantee. FYI, My actual address is as below (Not California), no option for Military living living overseas. [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
There is an ongoing malfunction with the infotainment screen. While driving, it causes the heated seats to turn on, the heat to turn on and increase to hot, the radio to change stations randomly every 3-5 seconds, the placing of phone calls people randomly & repeatedly, the navigation to repeatedly leave the map so that it doesn't work, and the backup camera to come on and stay on while driving forward. All these things are extremely distracting while driving causing it to be very dangerous, especially on the highway or when many other cars are present. The problem has been reproduced at the dealer. They tried to update the software for the infotainment system, but this did not fix the problem. Also, the screen is delaminating which could be a part of the problem. The problem has not been confirmed by police, insurance reps, or manufacturer. There were no warning lamps/messages prior to the failure. The incidents first began about 9 months or more ago.
UConnect screen. just started -??ghost touching-??. While driving down the road, the screen continually jumps around, never stopping. Backup camera came on while driving 55 mph. Heated seats kept coming on. AC was on, but transferred to heater on its own. I had to pull over because of the distractions. Was told, and read on forums, that this was a very common problem with this vehicle. There were no warnings before this happened. I am scheduling an appt with Jeep dealership. I was told since car was out of warranty I would probably have to pay out of pocket. Seems there should be a recall since they know this defect exists, and could cause wrecks.

Infotainment screen started Delaminating for no apparant reason causing "touches" to places on the screen. These "touches" change the radio, make unwanted phone calls, turn on heated seats, mess with the clock, etc. and most importantly cause hands free phone options to not work making it unsafe or the driver. Forums from Dodge and Jeep prove to show that this is a major recurring issue on 2018 Jeep/Ram vehicles.
The screen in my jeep is delaminating. This is a widely known issue with more than 200 complaints online and a class act just beginning. I have called a spoken with jeep multiple times trying to get mine replaced but they refuse. They say that because I did not buy warranty on the screen and also because I am not the first owner that they are not going to cover the cost of replacing it. This is a very big safety hazard as multiple people have reported there screens calling 911, turning the radio volume up to full blast, and not allowing the driver to control the AC/heat.
U-Connect screen is delaminating causing visibility issues and occasionally will change settings on the screen causing distractions. No report filed nor inspections done at this time.
My u-connect screen is delaminating and the glue is leaking out. This is causing the radio/MP3/GPS guidance to constantly change settings, stations & songs and causing me to play with it constantly while driving. It did put me in a situation once while driving in an unfamiliar area where I had to reset the map display like every 10 seconds to find my way out. I now use my old Garmin. Several times I almost ran into a vehicle ahead of me or started drifting into the other lane from the distraction. I now leave the entire radio off unless I want to change my heat/AC/fan settings.
The touch screen, infotainment system began to delaminate over a year ago and started experiencing phantom touches when the radio was on (station changes, playlist changes). This has gotten increasingly worse and the heat, AC, and backup camera now turning on and off, uncontrollably.
I purchased the vehicle Aug 2021- I noticed the delaminating on the App Screen- I was told they would fix it- dropped off a week later, they called and said they would not fix- it was cosmetic-?? also said it would not affect the function of the radio or apps.. 3 months later- radio would shut down as it please, blue screen of death.. now we are at the point my seat warmers come on when they want. Navigation doesn-??t have a clue.. and it randomly calls people- I turn it off- it turns itself back on-?" my biggest concern is the timing started 3 months after purchase and the seat warmers this is dangerous- not to mention I was lied to! I am surprised there was not a recall- there are negative things about this all over the internet.. obviously this is a known problem with this the 2018 screen. They keep attempting to put it through my extended warranty- they say no also..
The display monitor at the front dash is delaminating and has progressively gotten worse. You could see a clear line where there was a start of separation in the screen, that has spread to a large portion of the screen. This causes the screen to apply pressure against itself, pressing buttons on its own and taking actions not wanted by the driver. I-??ve had it close out GPS while driving through a busy city. It has called 911 when I had my phone connected. It has turned the heated seats on and off and adjusted the air settings. I cannot use hands free options. This is a major distraction while driving and you cannot even turn the monitor off due to it turning itself back on. This is a safety hazard and a quick google search will show that this is a common problem!
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request" - Main infotainment screen. Yes, it-??s available for inspection. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? - The screen is delaminating at the top left corner and moving across the screen. Eventually it will prevent me from using the touch technology on the screen appropriately, not allow me to visibly see the backup camera, and activate features I didn-??t select. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? - I told the dealer when I was there and they said my only option was to replace the whole unit out of pocket. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? - No. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear" - No.
My radio has failed just 4 years 2 months after purchase. It skips all over the place and then the navigation comes on without me engaging it and it is a huge distraction when I am trying to concentrate on the road. I bought this vehicle brand new!!! Now I-??m scared to death driving it with all these distractions especially on a very busy highway.
Digitizer malfunction almost caused an accident. While driving down the highway it turned the radio on full blast, started calling random people, playing games. It wouldn't respond to driver input. Nearly caused an accident as I was so startled by the loud noise, then scrambling to try to turn it off. Now all hands-free functions have to disabled because I have to keep Uconnect unit and bluetooth turned off. I've researched online and find likely caused by screen delamination, and that it's happening to many people - SOR 997163
When I brought the vehicle to Florida the screen on the navigation system delaminated. It causes the navigation screen to make random phone calls when it-??s turned on and it also will not display the navigation map in a way that is usable. It is a defect caused by the heat- there were no issues until I brought the car to FL. Additionally, when it-??s cool outside, the system can be used even with the screen being delaminated. But as soon as it heats up it is not usable and actually is dangerous because the random phone calls while driving is very distracting.
About a week ago my screen started pushing/clicking/changing screens by itself. The screen is going crazy, switching calls, randomly calling people, scrolling through contacts, pushing buttons all over the place, changing songs, turning seat warmers off and on. I took this to my dealership and they confirmed it was a defect in the radio and to replace it would cost me over $1,000. After more research it turns out there are many other people with this same problem for the 2018 model jeeps. This is a serious safety concern as you're trying to drive down the road and can't pay attention because all sorts of buttons are randomly being pushed and the screen is going crazy back and forth to other screens. I would hope that Jeep would correct this issue at their expense as it is a defect on their end and causing serious safety concerns to not just me but other drivers with the same issue.
The radio screen is constantly blinking on and off, making phone calls through my connection with my phone - without being prompted, and flashing constantly turning the audio on and off, adjusting the seat controls, adjusting the audio volume. I am unable to power it off, because it turns itself back on. It's extremely unsafe and distracting to the driver. Every electronic thing in the car is controlled through this and I am unable to control it at all. This is all called by the delamination of the screen, a known problem to Jeep, and I have reached out to them with concerns. They are unwilling to voluntarily recall or repair or replace the radio. I have almost had multiple accidents while trying to power off the loud, flashing, problematic screen - not to mention that I am unable to control the seat and temperature controls, among other things.
The screen display spontaneously jumps around erratically as if you are touching the screen. Others have reported this as screen "delamination". Without warning and not touching anything else in the vehicle the screen jumps radio stations, from AM to FM to SXM, or changes the temperature controls, flips through the applications screens, and has even shown the backup camera while driving. It is random, and therefore not able to recreate. The vehicle has not been inspected by anyone. The only "indicator" was a corner of the display looking like a protective layer was peeling off within a year or so of purchase. This area has continued to grow from the upper right of the screen downward and to the left. Perhaps better explained by picturing water seeping through under glass. Car was purchased in fall of 2017. It is extremely distracting while driving as radio stations change quickly as what is being displayed jumping all over the place. I
