The Uconnect system is malfunctioning. This seems to be a manufacturing defect, which is known to be quite common in Chrysler vehicles. The problem causes their navigation system to be inoperable, the system to dial 911 voluntarily, the back up camera to be inoperable at times, the climate control to be inoperable as well as various other issues which have become a safety hazard while operating the vehicle. The problem has been reported to the dealer as well as well as confirmed by the dealer.
When driving the screen keeps going to clock settings, when using navigaition, radio, or anything. Apparently the screen lamination is separating and causing the screen to freak out. no amount of tapping or restarting helps.
The UConnect/Infotainment screen is delaminating, causing 'ghost' and random changes to the the hands-free functionality while driving, overriding driver selections and causing potentially unsafe driving. This delaminating is a known issue, but is being ignored by Jeep/FCA.
Radio is randomly accessing stations, backup camera came on while driving, seat heaters engaging on their own. Last night was the last straw when it dialled 911 automatically...
Uconnect system screen is manually making phone calls, switching on and off rear camera, changing settings, constantly switching back and forth as if someone was making changes. Unable to use the uconnect system at all now, this has been getting worse since starting and now I have to turn off the entire system to drive.

Touch screen in Jeep is delaminating. The delaminating has now caused the screen to malfunction. The screen is unusable and continues to cycle on its own through different stations, different calls, the seat controls, the back up camera (which is very disorienting on the highway) and through the apps.
I bought my car used last year with a small bubble on the Uconnect screen. Jeep is aware of the problem and called it delamination. I am not worried about the aesthetics, but it is not safe. I am assuming that the pressure built up between the screens causes the "buttons" to act like they are being pressed and the screen is turning features on and off on the car. It changes radio stations, turns the seat warmers on which I can not turn off and it gets to hot, and my main worry is it is going to hit the emergency services button when there is not an emergency. There is no way to disable the screen. It is not safe and very distracting while operating the vehicle. I called Chrysler/Jeep and they are aware of the problem but will not call in a "good will warranty" because I bought the vehicle used. I researched the internet and this affecting many consumers in many makes and model years. The repair is costly. I am writing hoping that a recall is issued because driving while you car is turning functions on and off is distracting and dangerous. I appreciate any help you may offer.
Electronic radio unit constantly flips around to different areas beeping all the time. I think it is called phantom touches. It will change radio channels, affects climate control by turning up heat to 82 degrees, turns on backup camera while driving down the road at 70 miles an hour, constantly changes radio stations, doesn't allow you to use navigation system, plus many other things. I believe this is a known issue as I have seen many complaints on the internet and my dealership also has customers complaining about their cars. I have also made my dealership aware of the issue. They say there is nothing they can do as there has been no recall. There needs to be a recall on these as it is very dangerous to be driving when these things are occurring. Very distracting and you are unable to do anything about it. Sometimes you have to pull over and shut the car off and turn it back on to see if you can correct it but many times it keeps on doing the same thing.
The vehicle's LCD screen has become delaminated which causes the control of the radio, air conditioning, navigation, and other features controlled by the "radio" portion of the car to become dysfunctional. The car will randomly beep, change air temperatures, start navigation, cause the loss of hands-free communication. This is a safety hazard as it causes the driver to be distracted in order to attend to the incessant beeping and issues related to AC/heat, navigation or radio (volume, etc.). This appears from Dodge/Chrysler Forums to be an issue among a large group of Dodge/Chrysler Year Model 2018 owners.
The touchscreen on our Jeep has begun malfunctioning in ways that st dangerous and distracting. A staff member dealer service center and the electronic store with whom we discussed it said that this was a common problem with this car. But it is not covered by the limited warranty at this juncture and will be over 1200 dollars with labor. It seems more like a defect. Particularly in humid or times when there is a change in temperature, the touch screen begins self triggering, acting as if it's being rapidly and randomly pressed hundreds of times, triggering screen functions, dialing actual calls, changing radio stations, changing climate temperatures, turning on seat heating, etc. This is very distracting while driving. In addition it means that the climate controls on the car cannot be used. It appears that the touch screen glass has slightly separated from the underlying screen in the right upper quadrant, but it's hard to tell. If this is happening on many jeeps, it is a manufacturing issue and there should be a recall.
The A/C evaporator was leaking refrigerant. Have had issues 4 times already and have taken it to the dealership to have it repaired. The aspiration of refrigerant is dangerous. This began after one year of owning the vehicle at 8k miles.
The radio continues to turn on and off by itself. Attempts to make phone calls when nothing was dialed. GPS turns on and off when it is not being utilized. Air and heat turns on and off when not being utilized.
The touchscreen that controls heating/air/radio/backup camera/etc... is going haywire during driving the vehicle. This causes major distraction as it is flipping to one control to the next, changing the climate controls switching the navigation system and radio stations all while driving. There is no way to turn off the touchscreen or keep it frozen so it continues to do this while the car is in use. There are no warnings and the operator is powerless to make it stop.
The Uconnect radio system is no longer functioning properly and causing a safety hazard. The system controls the climate, music functions, navigation, and back up camera. The system problems began with randomly turning the system on and off. The screen then began having a "bubble" in it. Now it randomly changes the radio stations or inputs, turns the climate system on and off, repeatedly asks to adjust the clock, prevents the use of the back up camera, and beeps loudly each time. Once the system begins malfunctioning it keeps doing it over and over again rapidly and the driver is not always able to turn the system off. The constant beeping and flashing is a serious distraction to the vehicle operator. If the system will not shut off the operator has no way to stop the distraction. Contact was made with Jeep who informed us to contact UConnect. UConnect recommended we reload the software update which did NOT correct the problem. Our mechanic recommended disconnecting the battery overnight to reset the system. This worked for 24 hours and the problem began again. After researching this issue it appears to be in multiple other Chyrsler vehicles. The level of distractions caused by this system could easily cause the driver to be distracted enough to cause a serious accident. This has been an ongoing problem for months and it continues to get worse. It most recently happened today.
Hi My safety issue on my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee radio face delaminating uncontrollably glitching screens back and forth calling sos controlling climate controls volume up and on radio switching stations etc.. Getting worse Danny
Instrument panel/ Main display screen is delaminating. Causing inability to use navigation, seat heaters, UConnect, Apps or set any presets, media, radio or any other item from main display. Safety features from main menu are inaccessible, navigation is impeded at any moment and use of screen is unpredictable.
My 2018 Jeep GC has the delaminating screen It has 88,000 miles & I was told since I am not the first owner it-??s not going to be fixed. Hard to believe I paid $30,000 for a vehicle with everything to be reduced to having nothing. The screen gets very hot & sticky stuff melts onto the console!! Once a screen comes up about clock settings then nothing can be accessed. The preset radio stations randomly & constantly change, the temperature goes from hot to cold, it switches from xm to regular radio, it saves favorite songs & artists, seat warmer comes on & you cannot turn it off or down, when starting the vehicle it randomly makes phone calls from the recent list or calls the first person in my contacts list. (She is used to it, I now have to text her if I really want to call her) it beeps constantly, when trying to use hands free phone calls it switches itself to the phone and back to the car over & over & constantly hangs up the screen randomly changes to the rear camera so your whole screen is you looking behind your vehicle it constantly switches where the air is blowing from the floor to the face to the windshield back to the floor then the face then the windshield and I have asked for help from service & the dealer but nothing they didn-??t even return my call. I have written letters & called every number including Chrysler cares (case# 81357273) but no one will help. When I ask why because I am the second Owner they won-??t fix it & they say it-??s company policy. So if I was the first owner they would fix it under Chrysler Good Will. It-??s been a year. Very disappointed in Chrysler & Jeep. After I purchased mine a co-worker purchased one & my son but I will never recommend Jeep again. How is a defect the first, second, or third or twentieth persons fault? The company policy excuse is just their way of not having to fix it. I wish I would have sold it back to them when they offered after Covid started. I asked my family to sue if I get hurt I have documented it ALL!!!
My screen in the truck is constantly touching other functions on the screen. It-??s a safety hazard because I can only use the navigation for 2 mins and then I have to try and fight with the screen so that it can stay on navigation. It reroutes me. Turns on the heated seats, mess with the settings and etc. it-??s the stock radio not aftermarket. I seen multiple complaints regarding this matter.
Our 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee which has less than 16,000 miles has developed an unusual problem. The uconnect screen console with radio will no longer stay on any station, instead it jumps from station & goes from xm, fm, to am, all on it's own. Others have reported rear canera locks up, stalling has occured, bluetooth phone connection begins making calls fron the contacts list and seat warmer & cooler go on & off. Jeep is aware of these problems & more. Jeep & our dealership says they are aware of these problems. They say it is caused by delamination, that is the glue used to mount the screen & cosole is melting and dripping down on connections on the moterboard causing much erratic behaviour. This collection of problems is certainly a safety issue. However, at this time Jeep has not set a recall. It looks as though Jeep has decided to just stick it to their loyal customers and let them pay up to $ 2,000 for replacing the console. Jeep offers a two year warranty but I am unable to find out if these problems have been addressed or are we getting another screen & console with the same problems. I am trying to find a way to contact Jeep directly but having no luck so far.
