On 7/17/2019, I got into my vehicle to run errands to note that the passenger side headrest had exposed wires and was not in its' normal position. I had not been involved in any accident and there was no force applied to the headrest. I did not attempt to fix it as I know nothing about vehicles and didn't want to cause any further damage. I went to the dealership who looked over at it from the drivers side window and stated the entire thing would have to be replaced. He didn't go around to get a closer look or anything- he just stated to me that because of the wiring the entire unit needed replacing-- he then went inside and told be it would be $800 since I didn't have an extended warranty and we would have to wait on the part to come in. I told him that I would need to think about it. I went home and researched the issue, stumbling across several complaints like mine. I was unable to rest the headrest, assumingely my plastic pieces had broke off as well. I called Jeep customer service and to sum it up, I was given a case number and told to keep all of my receipts just in case something comes up later but she could not help me any further. My Jeep has about 81,000 and has been very well maintained. It is very concerning that this issue is occurring so much and Jeep is not doing anything about it to ensure the safety nor the satisfaction of their customers.

I got into my parked vehicle after work, and noticed the passenger headrest was pushed forward, which was not the case when I parked it to go into work. Upon further inspection, the plastic bracket that holds the headrest in appeared to be broken. This is a safety hazard as I am now worried that the driver headrest will also pop and lead to a collision. This is not the first reported incidence of this occuring, and it needs to become a recall.

Driving down the interstate when suddenly the driver's side active head restraint deployed and the headrest shot forward towards the back of my head. Luckily, I was seated forward, looking in my mirrors to change lanes so it did not hit my head. Taken to the Jeep dealership and they stated that the plastic clips inside the headrest seemed to have broken and caused the headrest to deploy unexpectedly.

Driving down an open road, suddenly the "brake now" warning starts beeping and brakes are automatically applied. This has happened several times with no vehicles, etc in front of the vehicle. Happened even after the recall was completed on it for the cruise control system.

Msg appearing service shifter, took into shop and stated it could be an electrical wiring but will not know until they break down the shifter. Jeep has already had a recall but I've already taken care of that recall on this Jeep. Reading a lot of people are having the same issue with the service shifter and really should be a recall on this. At this time I have a short to the circuit in the shifter.

Air conditioning messed up so we took it in. Was told it is the evaporator coil needs to be replaced. The part is on national back order which sounds to me like this is an issue a lot of Jeep owners are dealing with. The air conditioning blows hot air and makes a sound like it is cutting off and then back on. It happens whether we are parked or in motion. We have less than 30,000 miles on our car too so this seems like it's just a problem that is happening with this particular vehicle.

After 3.5 years of no problems, our Jeep has been back to the dealer service every month since August 2018.currently at service since 1/14/19, 15 business days. In August: Pulled into a parking spot and the wipers started, could not turn them off different messages flashed 'no bus', and various other msgs. Check engine light was on. Took in to dealer the next day. Recalls were performed. We felt, our problems had been solved. They were not. September: Arrived at my son's school 7:15 a.M. wipers started, chiming started, messages flashed, tire pressure flashed. Turned engine off, restarted problem solved. October: On baltimore beltway with my son's carpool in the car, we were in rush hour traffic crawling along... wipers start, chiming, messages flashing 'service electronic throttle control' and others... then car started lurching and lunging somehow got it limping into the dealer... podded it and it threw over 480 codes. In service for 10 days. Alternator replaced, did not help. November: Arrived home after an 1.5 hour trip, chiming started, messages flashed. But this time as I reversed into driveway, car threw itself into park. December: Again driving car pool of young teenagers, exited baltimore beltway, wipers start, chiming, messages, 'service electronic throttle', 'auto park disabled', service shifter, etc. Engine revving but we're barely moving. There was nowhere to safely pullover and I have no idea if any of the exterior lights are working. I had to make a lady turn to get out of traffic. We barely made it. This last episode was the last straw. Our dealer's service department has been nothing but helpful. They have, with my permission driven the vehicle with diagnostic equipment hooked up, they've put over 600miles on my vehicle, but I don't care because I'd like it fixed. They've tried to replicate for 15+ days w/no success. I do not feel safe in this car.

Our driveway has a slope. We park facing up the hill and three times the vehicle has rolled backwards while in park and not running. One time, vehicle off, my husband and I were still sitting in it. Braking applied and the vehicle stopped easily. Twice there was a light coating of snow (not icy) so I could clearly tell that the front tires rolled and did not slide. I didn't think to check all four tread marks. This could be hugely dangerous if I happened to be behind the vehicle when it happens. The vehicle is new to me...purchased as used about 2 months ago.

Nav system stopped working suddenly while car was in motion. Displays map showing the car in the wrong location. Gives incorrect directions for the (incorrect) location and gives incorrect local speed limit information (because it's giving the speed limit for the wrong location). Attached image is of picture taken while we were on I66, and picture shows that the location was clearly not on the highway.

Grand Cherokee

  • 25,897 miles
Navigation system stopped working. Incorrect location of car was shown on map. Directions were non-sensical because the nav system gave directions and speed advice based on an incorrect location. The car's indicated location on the map sometimes moved while the car was moving, but still did not represent the correct location. Sometimes the location would keep changing back one particular incorrect location. Attached image shows that while in Washington, DC, the nav system was showing that the location of the car was about 10 miles away in ft. Belvoir, va. This failure of the nav system was evident in all situations: Stationary, moving, city, highway, etc.

Dec 042017

Grand Cherokee

  • 18,612 miles
Navigation system stopped showing the actual location of the car on the map. This is a safety hazard because I could not navigate to where I needed to go. In addition, it displays the speed limit of the (incorrect) place where it places the car on the map. This could lead the driver to go too fast or too slow for the situation. This incorrect location is displayed whether the vehicle was stationary, in motion, on a city street or on a highway, turning or going straight.

I have a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited with about 48K miles and noticed a hissing sound coming when I have the ac on, a few weeks later I noticed that it would cool sometimes and sometimes it would only throw hot air. I took it to get diagnosed and seems it was a ac pressure valve. Have read that they have recalled on other Jeep Cherokee's wondering if this a faulty issue with the Grand Cherokee as well. Sadly, since I will be out $200 for a deductible and unfortunately cannot wait for a recall as I live in Texas and I need my ac.
