CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2012 Grand Cherokee hasn't seen the same complaint volume as the 2011, at least not yet.

It's worth noting both model years are part of a class-action lawsuit that focuses on a defective TIPM and a long wait for replacement parts.

The 2012 also received national attention after it failed a Swedish Magazine's "moose test". The test measures a vehicle's ability to swerve out of the way of an obstacle you wouldn't want to hit while driving down the road ... like a moose.

I have an ongoing problem with starting my 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee V8 overland. The Jeep will start but will stall right away. Sometimes if you put the Jeep in gear quickly it will stall in gear also. Most of the time it stalls right after starting. I have to shut the Jeep off and press the start button again to get it started. I have had this Jeep at the dealership (Colorado Chrysler Jeep) multiple times over the last two years and the "resolution" for the dealership is that they can not recreate the problem. On 4/10/15 the dealership said that it stalled on them and they replaced a switch ig 08053059. Received the Jeep back and it stalled the next day. Called Colorado Chrysler Jeep back and they said that the service department would have to get an electrician in to have it looked at and that would take a couple of weeks. I called Chrysler at this point and Chrysler had me take the Jeep into cherry creek Dodge because they could "get me in quicker". on 5/22/15 I took the Jeep to cherry creek Dodge and the service department performed procedure S1308000399 5/2015 outlined in Chrysler's star system. The next day the Jeep stalled. I have called back multiple times to both Chrysler and cherry creek Dodge with either no answer or no solution. Cherry creek Dodge is now putting me of with a new recall saying the service department thinks that will fix the problem, and Chrysler wants to go with what cherry creek Dodge says. My problem is that this has been going on for two years. I'm not sure what to do at this point. Ever day the Jeep stalls at some point. Any assistance with this problem would be greatly appreciated. We first noticed this problem at about 25,000 miles. We took the Jeep to Colorado Chrysler at 35,451 miles and the Jeep has about 54,000 miles now. At first the stalling was just every once in a while, now it happens daily.

On May 19, 2015 contacted dealer about (tipm) safety recall R09/nthsa14V-115. Service manager stated to me that they could not fix (tipm) present time because they did not have part. Service department stated to me they did not know when part would be available. Gave service department my cell phone number and asked to be contacted (asap) about recall part (tipm). I think Chrysler should be made by our government to buy back my 2012 Jeep. This is the (4th) safety recall I have had on this Jeep. Dealer has not fixed recalls in a timely manner. I will never purchase a Chrysler product again, I am sick and tired of unsafe junk coming out of Fiat/Chrysler. All consumers should be made aware of unsafe junk being put in Chrysler vehicles. We in America deserve better respect from all automakers. I think my next vehicle will come out of russia!!!!! maybe they will understand how to produce a safe vehicle.

My husband and I arrived home with our 7 week old in the backseat and our keys inside the diaper bag. We stepped out, closed our doors and the entire vehicle locked by itself with our baby inside along with the keys. We are both certain that we didn't accidentally push the lock button. Luckily, we were home and someone was in our home and able to let us in so we could retrieve our spare key. We live in phoenix and it's summer. This is very dangerous. In the couple of minutes that she was locked inside, it had already heated up considerably. Luckily, nobody was hurt. I notified Jeep who stated that when the battery in the key fob is low, sometimes it locks the car. We had already replaced this. They also suggested we pay to have the vehicle diagnosed for malfunction. Why should we pay for their error?

I traded in my working VW jetta for a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee a month ago, we needed the space as we are expecting. Last week I went to start the Jeep leaving work and it wouldn't start, I took it to the dealer who informed me that it was a fuel pump relay recall but the parts are not available. Their plan is to replace random parts and hope it fixes the problem until the parts are in.. so what exactly is a consumer to do"! you sold hard working americans garbage at top dollar and now were supposed to take the bus until you get your act together"! further proof not to buy american! the federal government need to step in here, I'm tired or customers getting the shaft. Get the parts or buy back the product! ill be the first to sign on a class action.
