There was vibration in steering and extended braking distance when braking, also noise. Dealer replaced front rotors. In Oct 2000, vehicle was taken to dealer for same problem, at that time dealer turned rotors.
There was vibration in steering column during brake application, more severe under hard braking. Dealership has examined vehicle at 6,000 /15,000 /24,000/ 30,000 and 40,000 miles, and failed to remedy problem, only turning and replacing brake rotors. Please provide any additional information/attachments.
ABS braking system rotors for the 1999 Jeep grand, Cherokee causes vehicle to shake, and driver to lose control of the vehicle when speed was above 25mph. Consumer has had rotors replaced on vehicle less than 1,000 miles ago. Dealer has yet to be contacted.
Sever front end shimmy and puslation of brakes when braking from hwy speed. Dealer reported warped rotors due to high heat placed on brakes. When I asked what would cause the high heat I was told I must drive with my foot on the brake which I don't do. Dealer machined rotors at owners expense.
While driving and upon applying brakes consumer brakes were vibrating, and the steering wheel wiggling. Consumer has contacted dealer. Dealer surmised that rotors have gone bad, needed replacing.

Rotors have been resurfaced twice, replaced twice and the problem is now back again. Dealer stated problem was due to "mexican steel" and driver error in that I drove with the default overdrive on. He stated I should drive with overdrive off at speeds below 45 mph. Please note the large number of complaints and technical bulletins in your database regarding this equipment failure. Why has there not been a recall. This is an unsafe condition that is inherent in the vehicles parts. Now Chrysler wants me to pay for another set of rotors. I would like to hear from you. Thanks.
Brake rotors warp causing dangerous wheel vibration and loss of steering control. The dealer replaced the rotors at 15000 miles but the problem is back after 3000 with the new rotors.
This was the 5th time vehicle has gone in for front brake rotors. Vehicle would shake, shimmy, and jump. Every 3,000 miles rotors had to be changed or replaced. Mechanic stated that it was coming partially from pistons. Consumer will add more information.
Premature wear of the front brake rotors. Dealer has replaced/resurfaced rotors five times, and problem has reoccurred. Please provide additional information.
We purchased this vehicle form the aforementioned dealer pm 8/24/00. At that time it had 14,376 miles on it. A "carfax.org" revealed that this was a return from lease. There wa S no other information that would indicate the potential for mechanical failure. Nine months and 5515 miles later the peterson service dept diagnosed our vibration issue when applying the brakes as "warped rotors" and we need to replace all 4 of them. At our expense ($430). This the first time in, over 40 years of vehicle ownership, that I have had tis happen so early in the life of a vehicle" I think this should be checked out?? the manufacturer knows something because they will only guarantee their rotors for 12 mo/12K mi."
Brakes were not braking evenly and began to studder when applied. In remedy, dealer resurfaced rear rotors. Front rotors had to be replaced at owner's expense.
Brakes pulsate/ steering vibrates when applying brakes. Took vehicle to dealer, and they wanted to turn rotors. But, consumer felt that this will not correct problem.
Ongoing problem with front brake rotors warping. Dealer notified, and had rotors turned and replaced. But problem still occurring. Original rotors warped within 6 omonths after purchase of vehicle, (front rotors) they were then turned, warped again within 6K miles then replaced one rotor then the other rotor warped.
At approximately 10,000 miles both front brake rotors became warped/distorted. Warping was due to materials used in manufacturing of rotors. Brake rotor warping occurred again at approximately 16,000 miles. Vehicle currently has 24,500 miles on it, and defect has occurred again. Dealership was attempting to repair defect. However, manufacturer was not supporting dealership efforts in correcting this defect. Please provide any additional information/attachments.
The original and replacement front brake rotors failed and were warped, the consumer contacted the dealer who refused to replaced them at no cost because the the vehicle was out of warranty. Nlm
Consumer replaced under warranty rotors at 10,000 miles. Rotors needed to be replace at 19,000 miles because vehicle shook real badly when trying to stop.vehicle should be covered under warranty up/ until 36,000 miles. Dealer was trying to say it was normal wear and tear to avoid paying for it.
