The consumer started the vehicle while it was on park; after he started it, he stepped out from the vehicle. Suddenly the vehicle jumped from park to reverse and hit the consumer and the garage, consumer was injured in accident.
The car was parked, at a close range, facing the the wall next to my garage doors. When it was put to reverse in order to back up for maneuvering, the car drove forward instead, hitting the wall. I tried a number of times to set it on reverse but each time it would only go forward. Even on neutral, it would go forward. No serious damage resulted because the car was very close to the wall when it first went forward instead of backwards and after that it was pressed against the wall. I tried to contact the manufacturer but it was closed because it is a Saturday. I did contact the dealer but I was told that "something must have broken". since I read so many reports on incidents with Jeep 1995's automatic transmission I thought I should report this incident immediately.
The vehicle, on its own with the engine running, went into reverse while the driver was at the rear hatch getting some personal items. The vehicle was in the garage at the time of the mishap. The driver was nearly run over but escaped injury as the drivers door was open and the door hit side of the garage door opening which stop the car. Severe damage was done to the door.
