Engine thermostat went bad around 60,000 miles. The engine would not warm up to temperature on cold days and would not stay cool enough on warm days. The engine light came on and the engine didn't sound like it should when running. The thermostat had to be replaced, costing almost $500 for a fix that shouldn't have cost that much.
Since my previous complaint, 11048717 I was denied a buy back by fca, llc via first class mail stating I was not eligible under ga lemon law regardless of it being out of service more than 30 days. Since this letter the vehicle has died 3 times while in motion and continues to skip along with a decrease in rpms while idling (observed my dealership service). I also had smoke and a strong odor coming from the left front side of the vehicle with no reason as to why. This car is dangerous and I cannot believe there has not been a total recall since it is shutting off while driving for so many people.
My car is a 2016 Jeep Cherokee and only has 44,000 miles on it. I keep up with my maintenance. My check engine light came on and my heat isn't working properly. We took it to the dealership in mobile, al this morning and they are saying my warranty for this is up. It's $400 plus dollars to fix and I searched online and other people with this same vehicle are having this problem. This is obviously unfair to consumers. Please look into this matter.
I came to a complete stop at a red light. The brake and gas pedals were frozen in place and the elictrical equipment on the dash went haywire for a moment. The message center then showed the message "start stop system unavailable/ please return to park, then choose desired gear." I was able to turn on my flashers, but despite shifting to park and to drive several times the transmission would not engage. The engine did not seem to be running. I had to turn the car off and then on with the key several times before the engine turned over. The same thing happened at the next two stop lights. I drove about three miles past the third stoplight, and the same thing happened but while I was driving in motion on a highway at about 55 mph. There was no shoulder. It was terrifying. I turned on my flashers and came to a full stop coasting with no brakes and no ability to shift gears. I turned the car off and on with the key again and the car seemed "fine." I used the dash button to turn off the auto-off mechanism and drove the last ten miles home without incident. I'm not sure whether the ess system is related to the malfunction, however the error message and result of turning it off suggests it is. I still have a message that says "service auto on off system." Calling dealership today.
It has an oil consumption issue. It burns a quart of oil every 1000 miles. It takes 5 quarts of oil and the oil change is every 5000 miles so by the time it needs an oil change there is no oil left. It stalled dead on me while I was driving because it had no oil. I had no advanced warning it just stopped in the middle of the street. I have done 7 oil consumption tests and Jeep is telling me it is "Jeep standard" and they will not fix it.

Excessive oil consumption. To protect itself, the engine will shut down without warning, no oil or engine lights. This has happened several times in one year. The most recent Sept. 27, 2017 was when I was in traffic on a side street in worcester MA.. it took 5 men to physically push my car to the side of the road to prevent an accident from happening. Unacceptable. After having a tune up in mid-July 2017, the car dip stick in late September was dry. After towing the vehicle to the nearest dealer I found out it took 4 quarts of oil. I believe this is an excessive amount. I am now going to have to check every 500 to 1,000 miles not to mention the higher cost to purchase synthetic oil. The
When the weather is over 90 degree the engine does not start while using the push ignition button or the remote start. The ac and radio are operational however the vehicle displays a check engine light along with other service park brake warning message. The vehicle will not start till the weather cools down and gets below 90 degrees. There is possibility this issue can arise when driving the vehicle, in which case it could be deadly.
While driving, vehicle shuts down unexpectedly and will not restart. Five + incidents have occurred this year alone, first incident occurred on Jan 25, 2017 - the most recent occurred today Aug 24, 2017. An engine replacement has been completed on the vehicle, however new/related faulty issues have been identified to include the transmission and software programming. Even after the so-called repairs are completed, the vehicle continues to shut down. All incidents have occurred while driving, turning, stopped on city streets, and when attempting to re-start engine after running a short (less that 5 minute) errand. Incidents are a safety issue endangering life and safety. Premier Jeep dealership in placentia, ca has been less than cooperative and rude in dealing with a female owner. Loss of use of vehicle has resulted in additional costs for other vehicle rental/insurance and lost wages from not being able to get to or having to leave work early to deal with this issue. Copies of vehicle maintenance repair will be forthcoming. Please note their have been numerous cited incidents of this issue occurring on the Jeep Cherokee built in late 2015 through early 2016. Chrysler/Jeep has even distributed notices to all dealerships recently to advise of the issue.
I was driving down the road at 75 miles per hour when she vehicle stopped working. The engine was running but I couldnt press the gas brakes nor did the steering work. A week before that my car wouldnt crank. I have been telling the shop 2 times prior something wasnt right with the transmission. Also has had 2 recalls repaired.
My 2016 Jeep Cherokee started having issues. On my way home from work the service transmission message popped up on my display and engine light came on and had absolutely no acceleration capability. Managed to stay with traffic and proceed to the off ramp to a gas station. I followed what it's said on owner manual: Turn off the car and turn on the car while on natural for few minutes and the message went away but the engine light was there for a while and got turned off it self. But the next day same issue happened again. I took the car to Jeep dealership, they did not have a transmission specialist to check the car. I had to make an appointment with another dealership, the appointment is for tomorrow. Interesting is the manual says after resetting should not drive the car because it might cause engine problems, and should have dealer to check but the dealers don't check the car right-away they give you appointment for few days later or a week later. I had this car for year and half I drive 3 miles from home to work I don't understand why the car should have a transmission problem at this early stages. I don't feel safe driving this car. Not happy at all!
On March 3/9/2017 I purchased a 2016, Jeep Cherokee limited 4X4, 2.4L with 20,111. At the time of the purchase, I received a 109-point vehicle inspection report, and I personally checked the fluid levels. On May 27, 2017, the oil light flashed when turning into the home depot. I immediately, parked and turned off the car. After inspection, I checked the oil, and there was no evidence of oil on the dip stick. The Jeep's mileage was 24,211 miles, which is only 4,100 miles since purchasing the vehicle. Having learned that no oil was registering on the dip stick, I opened up the hood and looked for signs of an oil leak" no oil leak was visible from the engine compartment and no oil leakage was found under the Jeep. I then drove to the nearest retailer and purchased 5 qt container of 0W-20, full synthetic motor oil. After returning to the Jeep, I started adding oil, one quart at a time, and checking the level of the oil between adding intervals. After adding one quart, I could just see evidence of oil on the dip stick. It took 3.5 quarts before the dip stick registered full. At that point I turned on the vehicle. All of the normal dash board diagnostic lights flashed on/off and the car exhibited no sustained warning lights. No sustained engine light or oil light were visible and the Jeep appeared to be running normally. No blue or black exhaust was visible from the Jeep's tail pipe. After arriving home, I promptly changed the oil and oil filter with the 0W-20, full synthetic castrol motor oil and a fram tough guard filter. The discarded oil was black. From under the Jeep, there was no sign of an oil leak around the oil filter, the oil pan or anywhere inside of the skid shield under the Jeep"
My car JA a 2016 and it has shut off while driving 3 times, I was almost rear ended this last time, and it took a bit to start again. I have already taken it to dealer and they said it was a software update... and they updated it but it's doing it again. I have been reading and there's is more online complaints about this same issue and all get the same response that they don't know what's causing it and they only do a software update if that... what needs to happen before they recall or repair this issue, I don't feel safe driving this vehicle anymore but I have no choice I have to drive to work and have no other vehicle, I feel my life is in danger every time I'm driving it, how many people's lives will Jeep continue putting in danger until they resolve the issue or recall their this car. A simple we don't know and take your car back doesn't make me feel like they are concerned about my safety, they already sold the car so now it's our problem" I pay a lot of money for this car for it to not be reliable and to feel my life at risk. What are my options? how can I have a reliable car again" I have a 2016 relatively new car and there's no reason I should be having this problems with a new car so either I got a lemon or their whole line is faulty but I don't think my life should be at risk and they need to resolve this issue. I'm tired of hearing we don't know what the issue is and it might just be a software, even if it's just the software then the car shutting off on is shouldn't be their way of letting us know we need to take it in for an update. Please make this company resolve this issue before any fatalities occur due to this issue. My car was in motion approaching a stop light when the engine stopped and wouldn't start up again for almost a minute, the other time I was driving at slow speed at a mall parking lot, the other time driving down a street. Thank you
Returning home from 1st oil change since purchase of vehicle (2016 Jeep Cherokee sport) 3 months prior, owner noticed smoke coming from hood immediately upon parking vehicle at residence. As soon as owner exited vehicle, owner noticed flames coming from bottom of engine. Owner called 911. Three minutes later when emergency vehicles arrived, car was engulfed in flames and was deemed a total loss by fire investigator and insurance company.
In cold temperatures my vehicle doesn't heat properly. Noticed that in my climate control setting that strictly goes to the floor it has no force, and sounds like it blows on the windshield but doesn't. service advisor indicated that is the problem but no correction for issue currently available.
The Jeep stalled in the middle of the intersection! several times and once as I was exiting the freeway ! the service transmission light went on and then I received the Jeep back nine days later and the the engine rattles and the console cracking sounds themotor sound like it's running higher than before it was fix I took it back the service manger told me that it runs fine and I need to relax and enjoy the arts but I don't think it working like it was prior to breaking down ! it had 6949 miles on it and now the shocks seem to hit hard too ! so I not sure what's going on ! Jeep corporate told me to drive it but I don't feel safe ! I asked for a better Jeep! and I was told that things happen ! the service department won't look at it agian ! and the Jeep seems to be pulling to the left ! but the steering wheel looks aligned!

Accellerating from a stop to get on the highway and engine shut down. Had to stop in the middle of a busy intersection to put it in park, remove and re-insert key, and restart. Almost got rear ended in the process. Took vehicle to the dealership immediately after (Saturday), they have had it all week - said they have driven it every day and have been unable to replicate the problem. Today is Thursday and they are asking me to pick it up. Wiring is secure, battery is fine, there is no trace in the vehicle's computer that there was ever an issue.
