On two occasions the following sequence of events have happened. 1. "check engine" light appears. Message reads "service transmission". 2. immediately transmission no longer responds. 3. turn off vehicle. Upon restarting "check engine" light remains on but vehicle returns to functioning normally. 4. take vehicle in to check the trouble code. Upon restarting vehicle the "check engine" light no longer appears. The issue first occurred at around 31,500 miles while traveling surface roads at about 40 mph. I took it in to the dealership for an unrelated recall notice and informed them of the other issue. They said they would inspect the transmission for any and all issues. The vehicle was returned to me and I was assured there was no issue. At around 34,000 miles the issue happened again; this time it happened driving on a busy highway at 70mph. Upon taking it in to an autozone the trouble code read "P0887 tcm power relay control circuit high". the dealership told me they aren't aware of that code and it is currently in their possession to investigate.

The transmission slips, stalls, hesitates at acceleration at any speed. Particularly worrisome when traveling on highways when it jeopardizes our safety! happens continually despite the Jeep dealerships attempts to repair. Still telling us it is a software issue and a day after service problem continues. No fix.

The vehicle constantly shifts hard, or does not shift when supposed to. Constant jerking of vehicle when speeding up. Sometimes will not downshift when going down hill. This is a constant problem every time I drive the vehicle. I have had it back to the dealer several times, and they will do "computer updates", but it does not help.

I purchased the Cherokee a few months ago and have been plagued with transmission problems. It jerks and will surge while in park. It won't change gears as it should. The check engine light came on and took it to the local dealer. They have to replace the thermostat housing. They did "flashes" and "relearns" for transmission problems. As soon as I drove off the lot, the transmission was performing exactly as before with no improvement.

Takata recall the vehicle is experiencing issues while shifting in lower gears 1-3. the car will rev high and give a jerk before shifting. This happens when at a stop and you begin to accelerate. This also occurs in slow moving traffic. Also, it experiences issues when merging into a highway or lane traveling at speeds of 35ish. When making a turn at a stop sign the car will also hesitate and give a little jerk. I have also noticed that when traveling at 30-35 the car is in 5th gear which in return when you need to accelerate it has to down shift to take off which there is a delay before acceleration occurs. This has been on going for about 2 months.

Automatic transmission: Vehicle "hesitates" when putting into drive or reverse or moving forward from a "stopped" position. This happens intermittently - I don't know when I press the gas if I will move forward. This is extremely dangerous when trying to merge onto a highway - though it could potentially cause an accident if the vehicle behind me thinks I will move forward when a light turns green. I have been told that I should contact the dealership periodically for software updates -- there is no way to fix the problem, but software supposedly "lessens" the problem. I had one software update: Problem recurred the next day and continues to be a problem. I am afraid to allow my teenager drive the vehicle because of the unpredictability of the problem -- it's frightening enough for me, let alone an inexperienced driver. This is a safety issue -- no "fix" is an unacceptable response!

Vehicle at times in motion and slowing down and lightly touching brake will down shift and accelerate at the same time, when approaching stop sign(light) if not fully ingaging brake quickly vehicle can travel thru intended stop. Down shifing and accelerating may also occur on slight down grade, also, with cruise control ingaged. Factory technician has driven and evaluated vehicle and states it is operating as designed. Problem continues..... most stay reading to fully engage brake if needed.

Purchased vehicle Nov 2014, shortly after I noticed it would shift irregularly and the vehicle tended to cruise on its own when off the gas. What made me take to the dealer was I noticed that when coming to a stop, the rpms of the engine will increase and cause the car to start going faster while applying the brakes. So I took to the dealer. Dealer did not investigate the issue. They preformed software updates. None fixed the issue. Time passed, the Jeep started to develop more noises in the transmission, it started to put gears harshly so I took it to the dealer again after it continued to do the same issues. Dealer claimed there was an issue with the transmission and it was replaced along with updates. New transmission and same issues. Jeep tries to cruise when off the gas, tries to accelerate when slowing or braking, rpms go up when slowing, noises coming from the transmission, irregular shifting, does not feel like a new car. Took to the dealer about 3-4 more times since transmission swap for software updates and nothing got better. The Jeep is actually getting worse. Now it has starting slamming in gears when coming to a stop, has some sort of wobble when accelerating, noises from the front (sounds like clutches slipping or something) and dealer has no fix. I had a ride along with dealer rep and they claim its normal for the vehicle, that its software and I must wait for updates. It is now Oct 20, 2016 and I have lost countless time and money trying to get this Jeep correct. I have tried to get the dealer to give me my money back and they do not. I opened a case with fca when transmission was swapped and they have not helped to get out of the car. Why should I be stuck with a faulty and dangerous vehicle? fca and dealer should be held responsible for the sale of a faulty vehicle and refund me in full. The vehicle should be considered a lemon from day one
