The vehicles transmission skips gears and jerks when driving in city streets and the freeway. When this occurs the vehicle will either accelerate when it is supposed to be slowing down or slow down when trying to accelerate. On a few occasions in city streets it has increased in speed while close to stopping at about 2 to 3 miles per hour and I almost hit another vehicle in front of me. I am glad I was quick enough and had more than the required safe distance from the vehicle in front of me. I also had other instances when I am accelerating from a stop, at a slow speed and it has slipped gears and accelerated very quickly. I can't feel the jerk and then the quick jump in speed. I am afraid that I will get in an accident if it keeps jumping gears when it is not supposed to.
When I drive my car cluster showed me "service shifter" and all lights are turn on in transmition prnd. I went service center they didn't know why that signal comes on. I'm very concern abiut that because that cause sudden unintended acceleration or stop engine during driving. It happened few more times before.
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. While driving approximately 10 mph, the vehicle failed to accelerate while depressing the accelerator pedal. After a few moments, the vehicle accelerated independently. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to northwest Dodge Jeep Chrysler (10600 sw canyon rd, beaverton, or 97005) to be diagnosed, but no failure codes were found. The contact took the vehicle to lithia Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of portland (633 ne 12th ave, portland, or 97232) where a software update was performed, but no failure was detected. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 17,000.
I bought my Jeep with 12,000 miles. I have taken it to the dealer 3X so far for the same exact issues. Transmission clunking, lurching, wont down shift at low speeds. When in traffic below 20mph some times it revs for a few seconds and doesn't move and then the vehicle lurches forward. Sometimes it just has no acceleration like its stuck a few gears too high. The shift going into 5th gear sometimes feels like I got rearened it shifts so hard. When this happens the vehicle jerks back and fourth and has a metallic bang going into 5th. The 5th gear hard shift is intermittent. The bogging, lurching and refusal to down shift at slower speeds is constant. Dealer has yet to be able to do anything but computer updates. They say its "normal". it is very dangerous in traffic because you never know what its going to do when you try and accelerate. I can't count the number of times I have tried to cross in between traffic and the truck refuses to go or just moves at a turtle speed.once I press the accelerator hard enough it will down shift hard enough to break the tires loose and peel out when it lurches ahead. It is very troubling and I don't want to let anyone besides myself drive it because I dont want them to get in an accident. I can also assume that all of these hard shifts are causing a lot of premature wear on my drive train. Its like putting the car in neutral, revving it up and then slamming it into gear. It is a daily occurence.
When stopped at a red light and I move my foot from the break to gas the car completely shuts off - the screens go black and the engine stalls. 2 weeks later the same thing happened when pulling in to a parking garage moving my foot from the break to the gas. The lights flashed and then the a message comes on the dash saying to shift the car in to park. I have to shift it in to park and turn the car off completely and then back turn it back on.

Takata recall. I have had my car for less than a year and within the first couple of months I noticed that it just randomly switched to neutral but I just thought maybe I bumped it into neutral until I started reading about it then learned it was a reoccurring issue. Also when I'm decelerating it shifts gear rough and jerks, but that is the same with accelerating, its slow to shift gear and when it finally does it is rough. It had made me panic thinking I wasn't going to make it across traffic before the cars came then it kicked into gear. 2015 Jeep Cherokee
Transmission slamming hard in RD3 and 4th gear in motion, engine stalling at stop, refusing to start. All trim falling off inside and out. Took to dealer they said nothing wrong. Took back again 2 months later they said software update would fix it. Fixed for about a week then all started again. They didn't even address the trim and liner issue. Gps also completely off and it wont update either. I purchased this in 2016 Dec. The entire thing is just falling apart plastic pieces are falling out from under the dash! cant get help and paid 2500 extra for warranty they wont fix a non fixable issue.
While parked, the lights on the shifter all turn red and a message appears on the dash screen saying, "service shifter". also, this happens while driving at normal speeds. At times, the transmission may slip while shifting gears. Another issue is when coming to a stop or accelerating from a complete stop, the vehicle may jerk as if the transmission is slipping a gear or improperly timed.
Transmission shifts, very hard, missed shifts--all the time rear differential makes a very high pitch noise, all the time. Sensor gives false reading on temp
I was on the freeway traveling at about 70 mph when the service transmission light came on. A few minutes after that I lost power to the transmission. I tried shifting it into neutral and than shifting back into drive with no change. I was stuck in the emergency lane on the #3 side of the freeway. A state trooper was dispatched. As I was in park (can't remember if I shut the engine off or not) he had me put it into drive to see if the transmission would engage long enough to get me off the freeway. It did engage. I immediately exited the freeway and called the dealership. They had me call Jeep roadside assistance who dispatched a tow truck to deliver the vehicle to the dealership. In addition to the transmission not working the dash lights came on and will not turn back off.
Was driving car and came to a stop light. Auto on/off activated at stop light. When I released brake car tried to turn on, but stalled. Put car in park and started car. Drove to dealership. They performed updates on car. Got car back cruise control would not activate. Took car back cruise control started working they said no problem found. Was driving car and applied brakes with cruise control on. When I released brakes car accelerated forward towards car in front of me. Had to slam on brakes. Took car back to dealer, they replaced brake switch.got car back and had problems with transmission shifting. Dealership says nothing wrong with car. Got car back drove car for a month and a half or so then power steering went out while driving in parking lot. Took to dealer, they said it had a bad steering rack. National back-order for 5 months. They were able to get the part within a month and a half. Car seems to have many electrical issues that affect safety operations.
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. While driving 35 mph, the transmission unexpectedly shifted into neutral. The failure occurred on numerous occasions without warning. The vehicle was taken to the contact's house. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified. The failure mileage was 452.
Transmission shifts hard from 4th gear to 5th gear. 1st gear does not engage immediately when heavy acceleration is required. Occurs when the vehicle is in motion on all roads.) shifts hard from drive to reverse. Occurs when stopped from drive to reverse. I have taken it to moss bros. Dearlship in riverside over 10 times for these issues. The latest time was November 2017. They tell me they cannot replicate the problem and therefore there is nothing to fix. I believe they are lying and the safety of all who ride in my car are at risk. This was first reported to moss bros. On August 5, 2015. The car had 23,907 miles.
Beginning immediately after a software update, the vehicle began to lurch forward at times while changing gears. This occurred most frequently in the lower gears. In November 2017, the vehicle began displaying service transmission, service parking brake, and 4WD temporarily unavailable messages when started. When shifting the car out of park into reverse or drive the car lurched, made a loud clunk, and would not accelerate. The vehicle can not be driven and must be turned off. Sometimes upon starting the vehicle again the whole process would repeat. Other times upon restart the vehicle is normal but the check engine light remains on for a day or so. When taken to the dealership they stated nothing was wrong with the car and that they can not check historical check engine light logs, as they are not retained. The issues have become more and more frequent as time passes. The vehicle has not yet failed completely while in motion.
Bought car new from an authorized Jeep dealer. Within a couple of months started getting recall notices. The first time, it took a week to re-program the transmission software because the dealer's service department was overwhelmed. No loaner car provided. Was told by dealer that "this is how they work the "bugs" out. "abrupt" gear shifting and "sluggish" performance not resolved. At six (6) months transmission was completely replaced with new unit by a different dealer. Took another week to complete, and as a "warranty claim" no loaner car provided. Was told by dealer that most owners were getting only two (2) more months use out of this model. And, that "Chrysler/Jeep will be happy to get this one back for research and development". "abrupt" gear shifting and "sluggish" performance continued. At 2.9 years, just before warranty expiration, "check transmission" sensor replaced and reprogrammed. "abrupt" gear shifting and "sluggish" performance not resolved. "growling" and "sighing"noises began just after warranty expiration (9/17) and have become more pronounced. Latest issue is that the transmission seems to "fall out of gear" causing sudden and unexpected stopping of the vehicle when slowing at red light or "stop" sign.
Shifting and jerking problems since we bought it new, dealer always said software upgrade and has done several. Finally the Jeep made loud bang going across intersection of road and car almost hitting us. Jeep is back in garage and dealership says power take off unit needs to be replace. Never own or buy Jeep product.
First the rearend went out at 75000 miles then the transmission went out 79000 miles on the hwy and I almost got rearended. This vehicle has been one issue after the other. There is also a wobble in the front end.
Gears are unreasonably difficult to shift when parked on a hill. Transmission slips out of gear. While on the free way at approximately 60 mph the car loses the ability to deliver power.
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that there was a progressing failure of which the transmission independently shifted into a lower gear without warning. The reverse gear completely failed to function and the vehicle was towed to brandywine Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram (3807 kirkwood hwy, wilmington, de 19808, (302) 998-2271). The dealer provided further diagnostic testing and replaced the transmssion assembly. In addition, the contact stated that the steering wheel independently turned left when the contact was attempting to turn right. The wheels were out of direction when the failure occurred intermittently. The vehicle was towed to (keffer Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram, 8214 E independence blvd, charlotte, nc 28227, (877) 406-5245) for further diagnostic testing. The manufacturer authorized a loaner vehicle for the dealer to further diagnose the failures. The dealer stated that the element was out on the battery and the manufacturer covered the replacement of the battery. The condition of the vehicle was still unstable. The manufacturer provided a case manager, but there was no permanent solution yet. The approximate failure mileage was 100.
While driving in a 50 mph zone on a major roadway in the town I reside in my vehicle decided it no longer want to go. Even with my foot on the gas pedal I could see the needle for revs moving when I pushed the pedal, but the car wouldn't move. I took my foot off the gas and tried the pedal again. Same result the car would rev but not go aside from a stuttering /light jerking, almost as if it didn't want to change gears. I have had rough shifts from the day we drove this off the lot. I was told time and time again that it was part of the break in period and there were no codes spitting out until this past summer where I got the service shifter problem a second time that was accompanied with service 4 wheel drive. I never have used this vehicle off road and maybe twice for Virginia snow. I took it to the dealership and there was a recall, which they have fixed. But now we are back to the same symptoms only now the vehicle wants to stop forward motion while driving. It is at the dealership and they are saying it was a wiring issue. This vehicle is not safe. How many people need to be in this vehicle before an accident happens. Luckily for me I was the only car on that section of the road but if I wasn't I would have been rear ended especially during rush hour.
