My car kept going on neutral last year all of a sudden while driving and we did not know why. We took it to the dealership and they told us everything looks fine. Today I saw there was a service transmission error showing and when I did further research I saw that many other 2014 Jeep-??s had this same issue.
In the middle of driving the car engine will turn off/shut down flashing that the transmission needs to be serviced, place the car in Park. Once in park, the car will struggle to turn back on. This has happened on freeways, stoplights, turns. I have had it serviced twice now with no resolution. This becomes a safety issue because it puts myself, and others on the road in danger if the car comes to an unexpected stop. There is no light that turns on until the moment the car begins to shut down. The Transmission light will stay on for the remainder of that drive. Once the car has been off for a small amount of time, the light will not appear again until it has another episode.
On 1 occasion vehicle went forward while in reverse. On several other occasions vehicle has shut off while driving, and displayed engine overheating on dashboard
Error codes U1120, U1110, and U0121 all appeared at the same time. Car became undriveable while driving on the highway. Had to pull over with lost power and stop on the side of the highway. Tried to get the car started again and upon reignition the car cycled between air bag and transmission warnings. The car could not drive without reaching 7000+ RPMS at 5 mph. Ended up deserting the vehicle and had it towed to the nearest Jeep dealer. This is the 4th time the vehicle has broken down on the highway.

My entire car stalled on me WITHOUT WARNING in the middle of the road while driving and showed a -??put in park and then shift to desired gear-?? message. After multiple attempts it finally turned back on helping to get me into my driveway. If somebody would have been driving towards me I would have been hit. After this, I went on a test drive with no warning dash lights illuminated, my car wanted to stall and was sputtering awfully after about a mile. Dash lights illuminated with a check engine light, service transmission, my traction control turned on and my selected gear (drive) was blinking a (D) on my dash. It was driving very slow. The dealer i bought it from had it towed and they -??found-?? it was a -??loose battery connection-??. I do not believe this. After checking multiple forums and reviews for this EXACT problem I am now DEVASTATED and BEYOND SCARED to drive my Jeep. I have read multiple reviews of this happening with these exact vehicles on INTERSTATES. My safety and others was put at risk by my car stalling in the middle of the road. If i continue to drive this Jeep lives could potentially be put at risk if I am on busy roads and it stalls. No warning signs or lights appeared before this incident.
Vehicle completely shuts off at random times without warning when lowering speed or after coming to a complete stop and sometimes battery light flashes sometimes when this happens. Will then put it in park and push to start ignition and it starts back up. Owned the vehicle for only a month and has happened on 5 different occasions. Steering wheel has locked up when it unexpectedly shuts off and was unable to steer and get off on the shoulder of the road and was almost struck from behind. On several other occasions at a stop sign when I go to take off vehicle won-??t move and the main screen then says -??Shift to P then desired gear-?? while the red light is flashing next to the D on the actual gear shift, although vehicle doesn-??t completely shut off when this happens. I have to put in park then shift gear to D to take off again. I am fearful of an accident, injuring myself and family or anyone else on the road. Vehicle was taken back to dealer however, the problem was not reproduced by the dealer.

Transmission error P1DCD caused car to get stuck in neutral and became undriveable. Had to pull over on highway, shut vehicle off, and wait several minutes before the transmission started working again. This has happened multiple times. Jeep service center repairs don-??t fix issue.
Myself - along with THOUSANDS are having the dreaded P0520 Code come on!!! There is a TSB (HAS BEEN ONE FOR 7 YEARS) for this problem! Yet, since it seems to fail right out of warranty - THOUSANDS are being affected. Previously-The 2014 Jeep Compass SUV is among the 522 vehicles recalled by Chrysler alongside the 2014 Jeep Patriot SUV, 2013 Dodge Avenger, and Chrysler 200, all of which are equipped with 2.4-liter engines that are touted to have engine oil pressure loss issues that may lead to sudden engine stall or failure BECAUSE OF THIS SAME OIL PRESSURE SWITCH ISSUE "! Yet No RECALL on 2014 models when the issue is so widely well known!? Problems --Large oil leak, could have gone on fire or seized the engine. Turns out the oil filter housing assemble was cracked which seems quite common in this make, mode and year. The oil filter housing is cracked and it is a known issue with my vehicle. One morning there was a large amount of oil under my vehicle. At this time there are so many open issues with this defected part that I am unable to get this part cause there are 5800 people in line before me waiting for this part. I am unsure where to start to have this recalled but I would like to move in the direction of having that done. Please help! I read online that there was a possible petition started for this very issue. IT ALL BEGINS WITH THE OIL PRESSURE SENSOR CIRCUIT (www.sequentialtaillights.com/dodge/SB_PDF/TSB_LC_0803414a.pdf) Please recall this issue! Make JEEP REPLACE THESE IMMEDIATELY AT THEIR COST! Next -- TAKE A LOOK AT HOW MANY JEEPS OF THIS YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL have loud ticking coming on! My Jeep has developed the 3. 6l penastar tick. I noticed fca extended the warranties for vehicles equipped with the 3. 6l penastar v6 but for my model they stopped in 2013. How can I get my year added to that warranty since it developed the same problems as the previous years"?" ALSO - Front wheel issues constantly! Replacements!
Every time I fill up with gas, the car dies a few times while driving away from the gas station. Sometimes at high speeds. The "Shift to Park" notification comes on and I have to pull over, shift to park and shift back into drive. This happens a few times and then goes away until the next time I fill gas.
The first complaint is when the car was overheating and it needed a new transmission which was covered under the power train warranty. The second was when the car would have difficulty accelerating, and the main incident was when I was on the freeway (westbound 80 in hercules, ca) and the car would not accelerate beyond 60 mph so I needed to exit and when I was able to safely park the car, it died on me and I had to have it towed to the dealership, costing me over $2500 in repair regardless of the fix a couple years ago. This most recent incident occurred when at a stop light (antioch, ca)the car started shaking about to the die and the screen read 'must place car in park.' After placing the car in park the car started up again, but at every stop the car would shake. Most recently (concord, ca) an alert came on the screen 'service shifter.' After doing my research I was informed that my car may have been a part of a recall affecting the engagement of the gears. Bringing it to the dealership I was told it was not part of the recall, but am still concerned about the vehicle shifting gears, or lack thereof. I have documentation of the repairs and complaints, but do not have access to them right now. If needed I can provide them.
I find it very hard to believe when I enter my VIN on your site it shows no recalls for this vehicle but when I enter my VIN on mopar.com it shows about 4 recalls and three campaigns. My vehicle stalls while driving and it's unsafe for my kids. I got the issue 'repaired' and the car stalls even more, there is a huge thump in the engine when I switch gears from park to revers or park to drive. Yesterday when I went to turn my car on the start button got stuck and the car did not turn on, my husband replaced the battery and got the car on but now the car won't turn off.
The upper coolant hose broke at the plastic connection. Dealership said they don't replace it needed a whole different part due to it breaking on alot of vehicles.
I was driving and stopped at traffic light and notification popped up saying "shift gear to park (P) and to desired gear". after performing that and when I went back to D all power went away and car started rolling backwards (there was a little slope). So I went to park again and tried it once more, power came for 3 seconds and went out again.
Car while running or driving just stalls for no reason. All electrical goes out as well. Also might just not start - essentially dead. Open front door and close it and the car starts again. It happens intermittently over the last 3 months. Mechanics are all over the place on the cause.
Significant leak in oil filter housing due to plastic material. Mopar replacement filter housing is backordered and is currently on the 7th revision (partnum ends in af). Multiple reports of this exact problem. Leaking oil on pavement while stationary and in motion. Oil can cause serious injury to others on road and premature engine failure while driving. This is a dangerous design flaw. This should be a recalled product after so many complaints.
