When car was first purchased, brakes would occasionally stick restricting car to 35 mph on highway. Dealer suggested letting brakes "wear" in. Problem continued off and on for about 3-4 months, we learned to pull the brake pedal up to release when stuck. In March of 2002 the ABS light came on, took to dealer and they said it was just a shorted wire and fixed it. On 7/10/02 wife applied brakes while entering on ramp to highway, car went into a 540 deg spin, no accident occured. The next morning, ABS light came on and ABS unit continually made noise even when key was removed from ignition. Dealer was called I told them "my wifes Rodeo is making a running noise like a fan with the key out of ignition" dealer (sandy in svc)said instantly "oh, thats the ABS unit, I usually recommend pulling the ABS fuse or it may drain the battery". the next day I called to talk to svc mgr (john michael), I said "wifes Rodeo was making a noise, like a fan running, without key in ignition" john quickly interjected "and the ABS light was on". it seems that this is a common problem that Isuzu seems to be ignoring at the cost of consumers, possibly the cost of someones safety. We will be responsible for the $250-$500 repair bill (3 months out of warranty). I did some research and it appears numerous reports have been filed on Rodeos ABS failures.

I have had this vehicle since August 1999. At various times for no rhyme or reason the vehicle surges and I have had to use 2 feet to try and stop this vehicle. I have taken it to the dealer where I purchased it as well as others to diagnose this problem. They even called Isuzu to try and diagnose it and they couldnt do it because even though they said they fixed it it wasnt. It continues to do it. On June 16 I was coming to a stop at a red light, it surged and I hit a pick up truck in the rear. He had no damage but I did. I took it to the dealer ( maroon Isuzu) and the new service manager told me that he would have to start from square one again even if though I had all the invoices of services performed on this vehicle. He had it for 3 days and told me he couldnt find the problem. I asked him if his wife or daughter was in this car what would he do? he said I would sell the car, and give the problem to someone else. I yelled at him saying that isnt solving the problem, and I wouldnt do that to a unsuspecting sole, he said well the next time it happens bring it in. The next day I took it to another dealer ( cerami, in paramus, NJ). They told me they wouldnt touch the vehicle until the damage was to the fromt bumper and radiator was fixed. I have since called Isuzu and they told me they would note it in their records. Thats it? he said yes. I need help desperately to fix this problem. I wait to hear from you. Thank you debbie ligieri.

I had a narrow escape today, when the ABS unit on my car started bellowing smoke; I was lucky that the car did not catch fire!! had to call the "fire dept.,just to make sure that it was okay. Am having it towed to the dealer tomorrow. Am very frustated that this could happen to a 2.5 year old vehicle!! I am appalled that Isuzu has not yet sent out a notice to owners regds., this problem; the ABS on my Isuzu overheaded and nearly set the whole vehicle on fire, endagering lives. I was not even aware of the problem.
