My son was driving my 1999 Isuzu Rodeo home from school. He was at a red light, stopped to take a right turn and car accelerated on its own went out of control. He tried to get it under control but it wouldn't stop; it just kept going, he went onto the other lane and collided with another driver head on. Fortunately, nobody was hurt. This is the 3rd time the car has revved up and went on its own. The first time it happened to me I thought it was because it wasn't warmed up but it has happened 3 times. I called Isuzu and they said they never heard of any complaint like this although I have spoken with other people who have these cars and they said the same think happened to them. I have reported it to the insurance company. I also called another Isuzu dealer and he said he has heard of this happening, I think this really needs to be addressed.

Consumer was traveling approximately 35-40mph on wet pavement and ABS kicked in when brakes were applied, and rearended another vehicle. Mechanic turned rotors. A complaint was filed with manufacturer. But, ABS still kicks in on some surfaces. Consumer states that the problem is that when the ABS kicks in it is ineffective, consumer also states that the ABS keeps the wheels so far from lockup that the brakes do not slow the vehicle.

Brakes failure occurs when braking while going over any type of bump such as any small bump in the road, speed bump, road drainage grate, etc.. at slow speeds (10-25 mph). This problem also occurs on wet roads. This has caused my vehicle to lurch forward into an intersection and narrowly miss rear-ending vehicles in front of me. When this issue occurs, the ABS takes over causing loss of brakes for 1-3 seconds and the vehicle continues to lurch forward. I'm afraid that this will result in an auto accident one of these days.

I am scared every time I drive my vehicle. I have 3 kids and this is the family vehicle that we bought for a dependable safe car. Every time that I have to hit the brakes I wonder if the Rodeo will stop. I have drove through intersections and not stoped at stop signs. I have lost brakes on the wet roads and litteraly been scared to drive my Rodeo. I have shown the Isuzu central manager that the Rodeo does not stop at a certian stop sign and he still tells me that it is within normal limits. I don't know what to do at this point because I owe as much as the car is worth and I don't have the money to put up another down payment.

My brakes have stopped working when I am braking and hit a bump. The brakes are also very soft and have to be pumped to insure that I have adequate braking power. My transmission slips after coming to a stop then starting forward again. Also, the entire vehicle has a vibration problem and is dangerously difficult to control in simple avoidable manuevers at 55 mph and higher.

When the brakes are engaged they slip and if going over any bump of any size the braking system locks/slips and you have no control of the vehicle. I htought maybe it was how I was applying the brakes and have had several drives test drive and it does the same thing to them. Also, another 1999 Rodeo owner said their's does the same thing and it is scary not know if they are going to stop you or if you are going to slide into path of oncoming traffice, etc..... Isuzu has a recall relating to lower back link and have had this work done.

Brakes: When coming to a stop light, stop sign or going over a bump at a relatively slow speed, there is a delay and brakes do not work. Brake is pushed down to the floor. The truck barely stops in time. Almost hit pedestrians twice due to brake failure! I'm afraid to drive my truck. Dealer tells me there is nothing wrong. Transmission: Car accelerates on its own sometimes. It revs high and has occasionally lunged forward while braking almost causing an accident. At this point, I don't want this truck anymore. There have been problems since I got it and two recalls already. The main reason is because I don't want to kill myself or someone else when brakes fail again!!!!

My daughter was driving the Rodeo on a clear night with clean roads. She was slowing down to stop at a stop light and the ABS kicked in. She heard a loud grinding noise which indicated the antilock brakes were on. She let up on the brake pedal and reapplied the brakes and got the same thing.
