When I make a turn right or left, joining traffic, I press acceleration and the car does nothing... I may even push the pedal to the floor, engine roars at 5-6K and the car does not move at all or moves extremely slowly... I watch the cards approaching from the back and start to pray... I barely escaped few accident situations because the approaching drivers were cautious enough about something wrong going on with my car, not moving. This happened multiple times. The authorized Hyundai service did not find anything wrong. But, according to other public records, the issue seems likely to be the dual clutch transmission (dct), later renamed to "automated manual", which is what I have in my Tucson.
When you accelerate the vehicle the engine revs up to 5K to 6K and the car appears to being neutral. This occurs every tim I try to accelerate. The vehicle does not accelerate. Very dangerous when I try to accelerate to change lanes. The vehicle does no accelerate.
The contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that the transmission slipped and the vehicle jerked violently sometimes. On one occasion, in a shopping plaza parking lot, the vehicle jerked violently, the steering wheel seized, and the vehicle accelerated on its own. The brakes failed to operate and the contact's vehicle crashed into a parked vehicle twice. The air bags did not deploy. The contact sustained injuries to the neck and back, which required medical assistance. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed by the police to an independent mechanic. The vehicle was then taken to an insurance body shop to be diagnosed, but a failure could not be located. The body damage was repaired. The failure mileage was 2,000.
The contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that the seven speed dual clutch assembly pertaining to the transmission failed to operate properly. As a result, the vehicle did not gain speed when attempting to accelerate from a light. Downey Hyundai (7550 Firestone blvd, downey, ca 90241, (562) 314-4331) was unable to determine the cause of the failure and provided a loaner vehicle. The vehicle was unable to be driven and was still with the dealer. The manufacturer was notified and had not issued any transmission recalls. The VIN and failure mileage were not available. Consumer stated transmission doesn't work when getting on freeway.
Something is majorly wrong with how this vehicle shifts gears. When you slow down, or don't come to a complete stop for several seconds, the transmission doesn't down shift properly, causing a transmission slippage and an over revving of the engine, which results in a delay in acceleration. This is an extremely dangerous situation when trying to merge into oncoming traffic. On several occasions, I have tried to turn onto a street or highway and nearly been rear ended or T-boned because of my vehicle stalling for no reason, leaving me floundering in the middle of the street until the vehicle decided to shift properly and resume acceleration. This vehicle needs to be recalled immediately before someone gets killed, for it is only a matter of time before that happens, provided it hasn't already occurred. In fact, I got in a car accident the other day while merging onto a frontage road next to an interstate, and I believe that this stalling transmission slippage is to blame. Please take this issue seriously as it appears that many other people are having this same dangerous problem with their 2017 tuscons as well. This dangerous defect occurs every day I drive this vehicle. Every day.

Takara recall. My vehicle was parked I started the engine. I noticed on the dashboard it said battery low and my car started to go in reverse slowly even though I had my car still in park and my foot on the brake. I turned my car on and off several times as it was slowly going in reverse and I change the gear from park to drive to move forward and it still went backwards. Finally the car came to a stop I turned off the car again and it started normally. This is why I'm writing to you today that my computer screen on my dashboard told me the battery was low and it did go in reverse even when the car was in park and my foot was on the break.
When you come to a slow stop, and then go to accelerate again, the car feels like it about to stall- then when you press on the gas, there is a long lag before the car gains any momentum to move again. I was almost in a major car accident at an intersection with my daughter in the car. The dealership keeps telling me it is a dual clutch, but this is way worse than a dual clutch. I was driving on a major interstate last week, int he middle lane in stop and go traffic, and the car almost stalled out on me in the middle lane, and then when I hit the gas, it accelerated and I almost slammed into the car in front of me. I have been driving for 30 years and this is the worst car I have ever driven. It is a death trap and Hyundai wont do anything to correct the issue. I dont want to drive my 12 year old daughter in it- but they wont help me. Today, my battery died in the car, so I had to get a tow truck to jump it and tow it to the dealership. It is only 2 1/2 years old!!! these models are unsafe!!
2017 Hyundai tuscon limited.....when accelerating from a stop the vehicle lags as though it is about to stall, sometimes with no acceleration when pushing on the gas peddle. Everytime I get my car serviced I have discussed this with the service department, they have had 3 different employees drive it & continue to try to explain it as the dual transmission. Recently entering on the freeway my vehicle jolted &died with no power I was able to coast to the side of the road barely making it out of the way of a truck that was speeding up behind me. The warning light illuminted the 'malfunction indicator light' this could potentially be a catalytic converter problem. Towed vehicle to dealership & they said it was a tcu software update. The next day drove less than a mile to car wash, turned car off & when I went to turn back on nothing no lights, no noise, nothing after about 15-20 min. Car started up. The vehicle is only 2 years old & I dont feel comfortable that it wont die out putting myself or passangers in danger or leaving me stranded. Hyundai service representatives no help at all.
The contact leases a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that the transmission was failing. The vehicle was taken to prime Hyundai South (1022 hingham St, rockland, MA 02370, (617) 774-1300) for repairs. After the repair, the transmission continued to slip and the vehicle sputtered when going into gear. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer for diagnostic testing and the contact was provided a loaner vehicle. The manufacturer was contacted and provided a case number. The manufacturer stated that they would call the contact back in the near future. The failure mileage was 18,000.
The contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. While driving 60 mph, the vehicle would downshift into low gear on its own. Also, when attempting to drive the vehicle, it failed to start. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The dealer stated that the vehicle was performing as designed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure recurred three times, but the dealer could not duplicate the failures. The manufacturer was notified and provided case number: 13622118. The approximate failure mileage was 805.
The contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. While the vehicle was at an intersection, the gear shifted into neutral and the vehicle accelerated without warning. The contact stated that the gear shifted various times and caused the vehicle to accelerate. The contact scheduled an appointment with the dealer (kearny mesa Hyundai, 4797 convoy St, san diego, ca 92111, (858) 278-7100) to have the vehicle diagnosed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired and the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 8,000. The VIN was invalid. Consumer stated same exact problem that occurred in 2015 recall happened in 2016. Manufacturer is not accepting responsible for this defect.
Dual clutch transmission (dct) / 1.6T engine start from stop acceleration stuttering, stalling occurs from initial take offs, while idling in stop/go traffic creates potentially dangerous drive/passenger situation in traffic especially when crossing traffic patterns and lane merging/passing. Issue has been brought to the attention of Hyundai corporate and two local Hyundai dealerships. Both parties indicate lack of knowledge on how to properly drive dct transmission and provided both video and written training packages. Both training mechanisms failed to resolve the issue. Supposed software updates by the leasing dealership failed to resolve the issue also. Issue is still active and latest visit to dealership failed to find any issues with no repairs or software updates taking place. Senior technician indicated Hyundai leadership at corporate are acutely aware of issue but choosing to not act accordingly/appropriately.
Traffic was clear and attempted to turn left. While doing so, the vehicle abruptly stalled and I could not accelerate to my lane, causing brief panic since I was in the vehicle with my baby and a freightliner was now approaching. The vehicle responded in the same manner while my husband drove it several days later. Additionally, there was a horrendous smell coming from the vehicle as we traveled in traffic at about 3mph or less. My husband and I were on edge and just wanted to get home safely without any further issues with the Tucson. We purchased the vehicle from Hyundai of longview on November 29, 2017.
Vehicle hesitates from a stop when trying to accelerate. Engine just revs and then lurches forward when transmission final engages. This can take several seconds. Hyundai states that this automatic transmission should be driven like an manual transmission. This is an ignorant excuse to hide a problem that they are well aware of. This is happening to so many people so why will the NHTSA not hold Hyundai accountable for this defect in the drivetrain" I specifically asked our salesperson if the issue had been worked out before we signed and he stated that the vehicles no longer had the problem. If Hyundai denies there is a problem whey did the salesperson acknowledge this to me? the issue has happened over 20 times to my wife and I in the past year and the vehicle has 10,500 miles on it. Hyundai states they it is performing as designed and closed my case. They didn't even offer to have me take it back to the dealer for service. This is because they know there isn't a fix and is a potentially fatal flaw. We have almost been hit numerous times because of non responsiveness from the transmission. Please hold Hyundai accountable for replacing the transmission. If a different transmission will not work with the current engine then they should buy the vehicle back or trade without a loss. The date field below only allows for one date" this has happened over 20 times as mentioned above.
I have owned my 2017 Hyundai Tucson since 10/20/17. In the last year I have had it at the dealership 3X for the check engine light. Twice my vehicle had performance issues while entering the highway and acceleration. It is life endangering. When accelerating onto the highway, the engine loses speed. The RPM gauge starts going wacky, off the charts. It will rev to 5 RPM back down to 3 RPM and back & forth. When the foot is on the gas peddle trying to increase to highway speed, the engine will go to 45 mph. When one a highway where the speed limit is 70 mph, it becomes life threatening. When I finally reached a speed of 70, it would go for a short time and then decrease to 50 mph. Very scary. Twice it was in service for the same performance issue. The 2nd time they replaced boost sensor range. It works ok now. However, the shifting of the transmission is hard and seems to shift improperly. It too is tied to the acceleration. Hyundai that is the natural performance on the engine & transmission. The last check engine was an alternator failure. I have owned 3 Hyundai's. I have helped my daughter buy her 2 Hyundai's. my mother as well. I have never seen these kind of issues. Also the natural hydraulic closing on the back door is a real safety hazard. One day the door started closing while my body was half inside. There should be a sensor to detect when there is an object in the way. That too is caused for alarm in safety. These 2 issues that I have written about can & will cause death.
I have had the car one yr. And have had an ongoing acceleration issue. It is becoming more frequent and scary. It hesitates terribly upon acceleration whether in regular mode or sport. The vehicle hesitates from a standstill and while moving. Below it asks for a date when this happened but it happens all the time. I used to own a VW cc which had a dual clutch and never had this issue.
Vehicle currently has 25, xxx miles on it. It has the 1.6L turbo engine with dct (dual clutch transmission). It is very unpredictable in regard to making a smooth start from standstill. The is considerable lag and jerking before the vehicle will respond with forward motion. Sometimes, just releasing the brake at a stop, the vehicle will buck and jerk without even touching the accelerator pedal.this is a safety hazard as it is unpredictable on the severity and when it will occur. Taking the car to the dealer was not of any help. They performed scans and said everything was "normal". they gave me a paper description on how the dct operates but that does not solve the problem. They basically said that's the way it is, just get used to it. Performing a goggle search yields many similar complaints. Hyundai has not owned up to this problem as far as I can tell. Perhaps if enough owners report this common problem, Hyundai will be forced to perform a recall with a solution to address the problem. This problem has been noticed continually on an intermittent basis since Oct of 2018.
The contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that on several occasions while stopped at traffic lights, the RPM revved up and the vehicle independently accelerated. The vehicle was taken to henderson Hyundai superstore (460 N boulder hwy, henderson, nv 89015, (702) 766-6838) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the transmission operated as intended and such was the characteristic of the transmission. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 3,000.
I'm writing this in regard to the issue I am having with our Tucson we bought new about 2 years ago. From early on it seemed the transmission loses power/ chugs. Hyundai sent out a survey about a month after we bought the car and I stated my issues then. My wife has had it in the dealership to have this looked at numerous of times just to be told they reset the transmission, can't find the issue or Hyundai is aware of this issue and looking into it. But looking in to this online seems this has been going on for quite some time. This issue is a safety concern as it loses power/ chugs when turning left in to oncoming traffic or when passing someone. At this point seems Hyundai usa is giving us (and others according to online) the run around. I would like to get this issue resolved quickly.
This car stalls intermittently when accelerating from a stopping position to a moving position. I've stopped at a stop sign and when I push the pedal to accelerate the car pauses or hesitates. After a few seconds, the car thrusts forward, that that hesitation is scary and not safe. This also has happened whilst in traffic. As traffic builds it causes the car to make multiple stops. As I've gone to accelerate again I've had the car hesitate causing cars behind me to honk and creating an unsafe driving pattern. We purchased the car brand new, so this is really disappointing. I have reported to the dealer 3 times and every time they tell me there is no fix for this problem. This is not exceptable. This is a big safety problem your Agency has enough data to make Hyundai fix the problem.
