My 2017 Tucson hesitates from a stop. It seems as if no gas is getting in. I've mentioned this to my dealership when I go for an oil change but they said it's the way the car is. I have noticed other people are having the same problem as I am. I think Hyundai should look into this matter and recall these vehicles with a fix. We have paid enough money for the brand new car and to have this on going problem is frustrating. Not good business for Hyundai because I'll think twice before I buy another car from them.
My Hyundai Tucson car hesitate to start from the signal light. I.e it took around 2 to 3 seconds to accelerate [I end up in applying gas pedal hardly to get the move from light ] and this had happened for 4 times so far from 2017 July to now. When I check with Hyundai service dealers on this problem, they said they have to check it completely and for that they would charge me for "vehicle inspection and diagnose" :(, I'm not ready to afford as this is not happening often.
The contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. While driving 20 mph on a slight incline, the vehicle failed to accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed. The contact stated that she had no control of the vehicle and there were no warning indicators illuminated. When the vehicle reached the bottom of the incline, it was able to accelerate. The contact stated that the failure occurred at least four times. The vehicle was towed to jack carroll's skagit Hyundai (1313 goldenrod rd, burlington, wa 98233, (360) 757-7057), but the failure could not be duplicated. The manufacturer provided case number: 11361069 and referred the contact to NHTSA. The approximate failure mileage was 22,000.
My Hyundai Tucson hesitates when trying to accelerate. It feels as though someone is holding down the brake as I am trying to hit the gas pedal. It is very scary because all of a sudden the car will get this burst of energy and accelerate forward. This has occurred on multiple occasions while trying to take a turn at an intersection or pulling out of my driveway. It is very frustrating that so many people are experiencing the same issue and Hyundai does not have a recall. I have spoken to the dealership about this when bringing my car in for regular maintenance visits and have been told they will look into it. I have had zero luck with issue being resolved.
I have noticed persons reporting the same issue I have been experiencing: My 2017 Hyundai Tucson has been experiencing extremely dangerous acceleration issues that I would like to bring to the attention of the ntsb. The vehicle will experience lack of acceleration when merging onto highways and/or making turns that require acceleration. The vehicle has done this on several occasions where I was unable to control the vehicle with oncoming traffic, I would try to go and it seemed like the car would pause, and then the vehicle would suddenly accelerate. It is scary, I never know when this is going to happen, especially with my children in the car and for a possible incident with oncoming traffic. Not this has happened on several occasions at random instances. From turning, to accelerating from at a stop, turning, trying to accelerate on the highway. There is not common speed this is related to.

Some times car will not move though gas pedal is pushed from very low speed to accelerate. Happened numerous times to me and just bought car in Feb 2018. I have even floored the pedal which I have never had to do in any other car I've owned since I've had a license to get it to move. I made a 3 pt turn yesterday and getting ready to come out of it didn't want to move right away and a car was approaching me from behind on a side street leaving a festival. I've also made U-turns and getting ready to move into traffic it hesitates which is dangerous. It stops instead of going even though gas pedal is depressed. I don't trust car to move properly from slow speed to acceleration. I've reported it to Hyundai and called local dealer and they said double clutch but it needs to be fixed or a recall on it. I have read many of the same type of complaints. Doesn't happen all the time but enough times. It can be very sluggish and I bought car with under 10,000 miles on it just recently. For a turbo it seems strange way it reacts. This is my 2nd Hyundai. My 2012 Hyundai Tucson was fine. Never thought I'd have this type of problem for my 2012 performs well and is spunky. Not sure what to do. I plan to call dealer to take it in soon to see if they can do something. I thought Hyundai was safe cars too is why I was going for another one. To keep their reputation they need to do something and not keep selling these cars with known problem. I am an experienced driver but new drivers may take chances moving into traffic with this known problem. I some times make sure I have plenty of space before merging into traffic if possible. I hope it doesn't take a fatality for them to seriously look into this problem.
When accelerating from a stopped position, the vehicle would go into first gear and accelerate for a few seconds, then would try to move up to a higher gear and get suspended for about 5-7 seconds as if it could not find the next gear. This has happened 2-3 times so far. Also, when I have tested the response of accelerating by pressing the gas while traveling at a low speed, the vehicle would not respond as expected. On several occasions, I pushed the pedal to the floor and the engine only responded as if I was slightly accelerating. I have a 1.6 turbo. Additionally, I have had the lights on my dashboard go out - except for my radio/navigation system. I suspect this had to do with a sensor as it was dusk and my lights tripped some electrical or software defect. I was going down a major highway around Washington D.C. at the time and could not see any of the driving controls for approx 20 seconds. I am not sure if my headlights went out at that time but eventually, after flipping my lights off and on and pressing the dash light to maximum, the lights on the dashboard returned. Last week, the audio of my radio/navigation system would not work. After leaving my car and locking it for about 20 minutes and returning, the sound was working again. I took a video of this. The temperature in my vehicle was not regulating properly while stationary. The dealership said there was a bad sensor and replaced it. It has worked great since then. However, I am still having major problems accelerating from a stopped position from a red light or turning into a road, or accelerating from a very slow speed. My vehicle is now in a second dealership trying to resolve this issue that still lingers. This is causing me to feel very insecure about driving my vehicle. I am second owner. First owner had only put 2500 miles on it and traded it in. Probably a bad sign.
My 2017 Hyundai Tucson has been experiencing extremely dangerous acceleration issues that I would like to bring to the attention of the ntsb. The vehicle will experience lack of acceleration when merging onto highways and/or making turns that require acceleration. The vehicle has done this on several occasions where I was unable to control the vehicle with oncoming traffic. I have also been very close to being rear-ended and/or T-boned due to these acceleration issues. This is a very dangerous condition that is hazardous to not only the owner's of these vehicles, but also to other innocent drivers in their path. Apparently Hyundai and Kia vehicles are known to have this issue and have been mentioned in recent online forums. I reached out to Hyundai moments ago to address this issue with them and I am hoping they will respond to me with a fix and/or solution to this hazardous condition. My vehicle is going to the dealership again tomorrow 4/23/18 for this same issue. The last time I took the vehicle in for this issue I was told there was nothing wrong with the vehicle. It just happened again the other day and I was yet again put into a very "close call" situation. I have a young son and I do not feel safe in this vehicle with this condition occurring intermittently and unexpectedly on the roadway. How many people need to be hit due to this obviously known issue with these vehicles? my vehicle tends to do this more often when merging onto a highway where more acceleration is required; however, I have also experienced this problem when slowly accelerating from being stationary at traffic lights, stop signs, etc.
The vehicle failed to accelerate on a circle causing me and another vehicle to collide. I have taken the car into the shop on numerous occasions the first time at 150 miles on the odometer and continuing for over a year, each time the dealership insists that no problem exists or existed, neither Hyundai nor the dealership will acknowledge that there is an inherent safety issue with this 7 speed transmission, this vehicle decelerates, hesitates from a stop and does not always handle in a safe manner. I am extremely careful and cognizant of these issues when I am driving always taking extra precautions however, in this instance that slight hesitation in acceleration was enough to produce severe damage to my vehicle, substantial monetary loss and injury.
We purchased this car in October 2017. We brought the car in three times in the first four months as the car would not accelerate when making a left hand turn. It would shutter and feel like it was going to stall leaving me in oncoming traffic from the opposite lane. It would also happen when backing out of parking spot. The car would suddenly jolt forward when the gas pedal was pressed multiple times. The dealer was unable to recreate the problem as it comes and goes all the time and happens without warning. The car functions horribly in traffic hesitating and then jolting forward being a safety hazard when rolling. Last week my car completely shut off while I was driving it with my children in the car. I had to coast to the side of the road and put it in park. It made a loud clunking noise. I turning the car off and then back on. I was then able to drive it home. The dealership says it iisnt throwing any codes or indicating any problems. They report that my computer is up to date. This car is a safety hazard and I am terrified to drive it. Hyundai won't buy it back saying that I just need to learn 'how to drive my car.' They offered me two months payments. I will not put my family back in this car and they want me to take this car back. This car should be recalled and taken off the road!
When you press on the gas pedal, sometimes the car will no go, the RPM revs up very high. The car pauses and then will go. Very dangerous especially when turning left or leaving a traffic light, on on the slightest incline. This is a brand new car. (we are leasing this, and got the car end of November 2017) I currently have 3200 miles on it and scared to drive it.
We have just under 6,000 miles on our new car which was purchased November 2017. We have noticed two major concerns with this vehicle and poses a significant safety issue. First we have noticed that when at a complete stop and push the gas pedal it will jerk and not go for a sew seconds. This doesn't happen all the time, but we have almost been in two accidents by the time it took to move the car from a stopped position when trying to turn. I have reported this to the dealership and they will be looking at why the lag would occur when the gas pedal is depressed. Secondly, there have been times at a complete stop that the car wants to move forward even with the brake pedal engaged. Please take time to look into these series safety issues as I have researched I am not the only one who has had these issues.
Any time from a stopped position or just accelerating while moving; I get lag or no acceleration at all. I have a Tucson turbo. My husband took this vehicle into be looked at in October and the dealership hooked it up to a computer and reset something to help regulate the acceleration. Learning the driving is what he was told it was doing. It helped for a few days maybe a week but then started back to having issues. My husband took it in last Friday & was told that this is how it's supposed to be. The guy in the service department wouldn't even look at it and told my husband that he has this conversation at least 2 or 3 times a week. He didn't look at it or record our concern. This is dangerous. I've almost been in an accident. I purchased this vehicle for safety and this is not safe!
I have owned the Tucson since 1/25/17.there is a lag/surge issue when excelerating. Not all the time, but seems to be happening more lately. In hindsight this situation had happened but I thought it was just getting use to the new vehicle. When I brought it in for service I mentioned it on a couple of occasions. I was told it was due to the dual clutch and the vehicle was "operating as intended". I find that hard to believe that when you are sitting at a stop light and step on the gas when the light changes it lags then surges into the intersection. Or, stopped in traffic and when it is time to move forward, lag and surge almost hitting the vehicle in front of me. As well as merging onto a highway and lagging as traffic is coming at you at 65 mph and you are lagging and hoping not to be hit. I find it hard to believe that Hyundai wants their vehicles to be running in this manner. I have been in touch with Hyundai customer connect and they send me back to the dealership. When I first got on to your site there wasn't as many reports as there are today. This is a very dangerous situation and I don't want to be a statistic. I have owned several Hyundai's over the years but never their SUV. I am keeping a record or every time this happens.
This car hesitates from idling in traffic to accelarting. It is intermittent, and I have been in the middle of an intersection on many occasions when the car just won't move for a few seconds. It is just enough hesitation to cause an accident and I don't feel safe driving it because of this. It is fine in highway driving. I brought it in to the dealer and they said the hesitation is due to the dual transmission. I beg to differ, because I had a 2013 Hyundai accent, and there was no hesitation like this. I feel the transmission is faulty in 1st gear. I will not attempt to pull out into an intersection unless I am certain I have enough clearance from both sides in case the car hesitates. It is quite frightening. If there is not a recall on this vehicle, I am thinking of returning it to the dealer.
The contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. While attempting to turn left once the traffic light turned green, the vehicle hesitated and jerked as if the vehicle would stall during acceleration. The contact stated that the failure occurred at least twice previously; however, one of the two times the vehicle actually stalled. The contact called woodhouse Hyundai of omaha (11540 w Dodge rd, omaha, ne 68154; 402-592-1007) who stated that the hesitation was normal due to the vehicle being equipped with a dual clutch transmission; however, this did not explain the stalling that occurred with the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and opened case number: 11107853. The manufacturer informed the contact that their regional department would be contacting them to assist further. The contact had not yet been contacted by the regional department. The approximate failure mileage was 4,500.
The vehicle does not accelerate when the gas pedal is pressed upon. When the vehicle does accelerate the RPM's are in the range on 3000-5000 and the car will lunge ahead. When turning into an intersection, the vehicle will reduce acceleration unexpectedly which leads to very scary moments that a collision with another vehicle could occur. When attempting to accelerate onto the freeway, the vehicle was at 5000 RPM at 55 mph and the acceleration began to slow down ad I had to pull off to the side with my 3 children with traffic coming at me at rates of over 65 mph. When in reverse, the vehicle often will not accelerate to begin the process of going back, if it does, again it lunges at a high rate and control of the vehicle becomes hard as you may have the steering wheel in the turning motion. The vehicle has been brought to the dealer twice and they state this is how the vehicle is suppose to function.
The contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that the transmission was faulty in the vehicle. There were no warning indicators illuminated before or during the failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (henderson Hyundai superstore, 460 N boulder hwy, henderson, nv 89015) where it was diagnosed that the transmission failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 4,000. The VIN was not available.
At various times during driving the car's engine will feel like there's no power or no gas and will go into a stall. This has happened both during accelerating from a stop going into traffic and during driving and accelerating. I have inquired at the dealership(fucillo Hyundai) and the service department suggested to use 93 octane, that was almost a year now and still happens sporadically. This is a very unsafe condition especially while pulling into traffic and the car goes into a "stall". researching blogs this is happening to other owners and is not isolated to me.
I have taken my car to the dealership 4 times since the purchase of my vehicle in September for the same similar issues all resulting from the dual clutch transmission. The issues have ranged and started will check engine light coming on in November whereas car was running rough and delay in acceleration. They replaced a sensor. 3 days later check engine light came back on again causing low power they replaced engine harness. February again rough idle and car died multiple times while at light and/or parked causing to be restarted service department stated they were not able to duplicate but usual cause is due to dual clutch so they reset dual clutch adaptive valves. March 2nd while sitting in a parking lot in drive I pushed the gas pedal rpms reved to 3-4 and I could hear the engine as if I was driving whereas the car was not moving similar to if the car was in neutral. March 5th after not driving the car for the weekend I was stopped at a red light when the light turned green to make a left turn I accelerated and the car slows down causing cars behind me to slam on breaks to avoid rear ending me. Next day while driving through a residential area going around 10 miles per hour the car jeeves me foward and slows down to almost a dead stop. I took the vehicle back again we're again they said it can not be duplicated and they also stated the car is supposed to slow down when driving drastic speeds often. Almost causing accidents. There is no way myself or any of my children will be driving this car I am terrified of this vehicle and don't feel I should have to risk my families lives for someone to realize something is terribly wrong with my car.
