CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2016 Tucson comes with a dual-clutch, 7-speed transmission. But Hyundai forgot to tell you about one key phrase – zero-move. That's right, an alarming number of owners have said their SUV wouldn't accelerate after a stop.

Turns out that's because the transmission's application logic has been stumbling all over itself. Hyundai recalled the issue in September 2016, but it's difficult to say if owners are out-of-the-woods, or if this is just a sign of things to come.

Dct transmission shifts erratically since purchased. It has been back to the dealer 5 times. Cannot be fixed. Each soft ware up grade does not help. Transmission jumps into neutral when very hot day in traffic or very cold morning. Dangerous

This SUV is incredibly dangerous. The dct(dual clutch transmission) does not engage correctly and will buck and stall when trying to accelerate from a slow down or stop.I have had to slam my foot on the gas and it will still not engage timely or safely. It was brought in for a recall but the issue continues. The dealership states there is no other fix for this. I have been beeped at by other drivers that had to swerve to get out of my way so they didn't hit me when the car does this.I have literally been in an intersection when this happens, and then the car will just take off. I barely drive the car anymore because of. This. I am afraid for our lives. My friends and family refuse to drive anywhere with this car because it is so unsafe. I have contacted Hyundai. Waiting on resolution, but these cars have so many complaints they need to remove the 2016 tuscan from the road. This is seriously dangerous. This is my 6th Hyundai and I love buying Hyundai but never again if this is not resolved. This has been happening since I bought it in November of 2016.

Car hesitates when stopped and making a turn. Car also hesitates when starting to move forward. We have received nhitsa campaign number 16V-628. We have had two calls with Hyundai customer service with no satisfaction> my wife has almost been in three accidents when car hesitated in oncoming traffic.

I had taken my tuscon in 3 different times for all the same issues every time (1) delayed acceleration from a complete stop while crossing oncoming traffic with my 2 yr old son in the car (2) not accelerating at all from a complete stop but the RPM's revving high before finally jerking into gear and taking off and (3) jerking when I am in traffic and I press the gas. All 3 times, the "repair" was explained to me as a "computer update". the car would drive fine for about a week, then the issues would resume. The service dept told me this is how the dct works. Then I saw that there was finally a recall being issued and I thought "oh yay! they finally figured out what the problem was so I can take it in this one last time and I'll be good to go!" after only one day we were back to the same issues. The service dept once again said that "unfortunately, computer updates will be a normal thing for this dct system" are you freakin' kidding me"! this is not normal! you mean to tell me that every time my car starts stalling while I am crossing oncoming traffic, potentially causing an accident that could cause my son, myself or someone else serious injury, if not death, that I need to bring it in for a "computer update"?" they also suggested that I try driving it in sport mode all the time or using the manual shifter to see if that would help with the hesitation and/or stalling and jerking. If I wanted to shift, I would have bought a manual. When I press the gas, I want to go. I don't want to worry that this might the time that the transmission doesn't quite engage in time while I'm crossing traffic and something serious/fatal happens. I am extremely unhappy with this car, I am extremely unhappy with the dealership and their passive attitude towards this ongoing issue but most of all, I feel extremely unsafe in this vehicle and no one seems to be taking that seriously.

Problems with the dct transmission. Vibration and choppy shifting from a stop or when accelerating from slow speed. At times the Tucson will also surge suddenly, for a second or two, when coming to a complete stop with foot on the brake, - at a stop sign, red light or pulling into a parking slot. Could be potentially dangerous when turning left or when another vehicle is in front of me. Taken in for servicing several times. Told by auto dealer and Hyundai customer service, that this is just how the dct works. Nothing they can do about it. No re-calls or service bulletins that address this issue. Hyundai case number 10748512, 11/6/17.

Bought the car at approx. 8K miles. Now just over 18K miles, while on the highway, the car would not accelerate over 55mph, despite the rims revving to 5K-6K. Then light came on saying transmission was overheating. Stopped and sat for 5 min to get to go away. Restarted and still took about 2-3 min to get car up to 75mph. In the city, multiple times while at stop light, car would not accelerate from stop. Rpms would rev and rev, but no movement until after multiple tries. Was told when purchased that this vehicle year had recall that was fixed, but when we put VIN into NHTSA site, told it's not affected by recall. It's possible either the containment of the recall net was not wide enough, or the corrective action is not yet adequate. Either way, my family's safety is at stake. I should be able to trust a new car to go when I prompt it to. Transmission is very touchy in this eco model. I hope to see robust corrective action by Hyundai, or a different, safer and more reliable power train utilized. Otherwise, for safety, I should not need to keep this vehicle and Hyundai needs to take it back. This type of issue could cause a very serious accident and I hope that more of these cars are not experiencing this issue.

While driving my Tucson 1.4 T 2016 model, when accelerating car jumps and when you apply breaks to come to a stop....it starts making noise and jumping as if its going to stall. When turning to a street the other day, I applied the accelerator and the car would not move...oncoming traffic caught up with me and one idiot came within feet of T boning me. I pumped the accelerator and it finally move in a rapid manner and then started making metal sounds. I had my wife, son and my two granddaughters in the car...thought we would die. Since leasing it March 2016 brand new, the dealer continues to claim it cannot reproduce the problems. Yet when I go on sites in the internet there numerous complaints about this car. I am afraid that a serious accident will occur and I cannot get anybody to fix the car. Please help. I am 72 years old and my wife is 57. We have two baby grandchildren 6 and 7, and my son is 16. The children belong to my oldest son and his wife. I have to drive my son to hs every day and am trying to teach him how to drive safely. We have come so close to getting hurt with the malfunctions of this car.

This vehicle has intermittent transmission problems when either starting or speeding up. Aside from the dct lag issue, it may rev up to 4500 w/O moving from a stopped position with light accl pressure. It doesn't like to start moving below ~40F and acts jerkily. The 1.5-2 sec lag may, or may not, happen even after the 2 ECM fixes. It is unsafe to expect it to behave when trying to merge into heavy traffic as a result - you don't know if it will move or how fast, or when. To quote ralph nader, unsafe at any speed. It has happened repeatedly, though not predictably, since it was bought.

2016 Hyundai Tucson dual clutch transmission is still dangerous and unpredictable after I had the recall done related to this issue last year. Below 25 mph, the transmission shudders, jerks and hesitates. There is also a loud clunking noise when accelerating at lower speeds. Recently the vehicle failed to accelerate from a stop in traffic for 5 seconds when I pushed the gas pedal. The Hyundai dealership told me there is no fix for this issue and that it's typical for a dct. I have driven other vehicles with dcts and they did not have these issues.

Transmission computer reset recall - purchased the car in June 13, 2016. Drove it to L.a. a few weeks and noticed accelration would become hesitant in traffic after 15-20 mins in slower traffic. Problem was very pronounced in stop and go traffic of 15-20 travel times. So, tried to give enough space in between me and car ahead so that I wouldn't ride brake or inch forward. At scheduled services informed service tech about it and they said they would take a look. There was a recall campaign that addressed this issue and computer reset to handle transmission problem.in March/April 2017. Still noticed the hesitation problem and noted this to tech at service appointments. Oct 8, 3 sisters and niece went to apple hill and after 35 mins going uphill on stop and go traffic on windy road, transmission over heated and computer dashboard alerted me to pull over safely. I pulled car over to able apple acres farm and we let transmission cool for about 45 mins. When we got out the car it smelled horrible like burnt clutch smell. We got back in started it up and was going to go up the hill a mile. Immediately burnt clutch smell was evident after 3-4 minutes and car was hesitant and lurching forward when I stepped on the gas. Like the transmission was slipping. That when we all noticed the shuddering feeling when I would let of the brake to give it gas as the car would roll back slightly before the gear engaged. Like the car was going to stall out like in a manual transmission car. Very jerky. So, I made a turn to go back down the hill and the brakes were 2-4 seconds delayed. I felt like I was slamming on them. We headed home and the folsom outlets to let the transmission cool of for a few hours. Made sure to turn off traction and eco hoping that would help. Traffic was better as it appears transmission does like stop/go situations on inclines or level surfaces.

While at an intersection waiting to turn left, I proceeded to accelerate (car was in sport mode) into the left turn to move through the intersection on a green light before on-coming traffic approached. I requested significant accelerator pedal application to proceed through the turn, likely 3/4 throttle when suddenly the 7spd dual clutch transmission would not shift into 2nd gear. Luckily I was through the intersection and turn and no longer in danger when this happened. The engine was hovering right around 6700rpm and appeared to be hitting a soft limiter and ultimately refused to shift. I left off the gas completely and proceeded to re-apply the throttle when finally the engine revs came back down and re-engage the next gear rather abruptly. After the incident the car appeared to run and shift normally without issue. There appears to be an on-going issue with intermittent transmission engagement with the Tucson. I've visited the dealer documenting previous issues with a lack of acceleration and shifting, but Hyundai does not address the problem because there is no current fix. The car has all current recalls and tsbs performed relating to the programming of the transmission.

After going from park to drive or when trying to accelerate from a stopped position, the vehicle fails to move when the accelerator is pushed. It will stall and has almost led to 2 rear end accident and one side impact accident as a result because it creates a serious safety issue when trying to enter traffic. At times the entire care will shake and the transmission will not shift properly or will not engage and recognize that it is in drive at all. The vehicle has been in the service department over 4 times and for more than 30 days without resolution in the first 6 months of owning the vehicle and less than 12,000 miles but the manufacturer and the dealer have not fixed the issue and say they can't because they cannot replicate the problem. This is a known recall and issue for this vehicle as I found out after some research and the problem is random and unpredictable. This problem occurs when the vehicle has been on a city street and have been stationary for a moment and then when trying to accelerate to drive forward or turn, the vehicle has no power and will not drive forward. The engine will rev up and never turns off, but the vehicle will not engage in drive. I have video of the issue occurring and can share if needed. I have shared the same information with the dealer, owner, and manufacturer without resolution.

On my back from dropping kids at school, I tried to accelerate quickly as normal while stationary the engine seems to have lost power and I quickly remove my foot off the accelerator and apply the pressure again the car then picked up again, luckily the oncoming slowed down, it could be worse as I stood a risk of been T-boned, the first incident happened on the 19 of September 2017. The second incident happened twice today on the 28 of Sep 2017 on my way to at the junction to join the main road while stationary, it lost power, again I could have been T-bone, second incident on my way from work. I am really worried about the safety when stationary.

The best car I ever owned was a 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe. Accordingly, when I was shopping for a new car in May 2016, I was looking forward to going back to Hyundai and purchased my 2016 Tucson. Only synthetic oil has been used since purchase and all service below, except the 06/14/17 oil & filter change, has been done at the Hyundai dealership service dept., 70+ miles away: 10/03/16 - the dct update/install/fix was 1st completed. The above update was completed as part of a regular service before I began to notice any problems. 02/20/17 - I'm not sure when I first detected a hesitation or lack of power on acceleration, but it must have been before this service date, as the documentation notes the dct update being completed a 2nd time. Although sporadic, each time the hesitation occurs it can be dangerous, scary and very unnerving. Equally unpredictable and unnerving is the resulting 'lurch' forward when power returns. 04/12/17 - more work for the same hesitation issue 06/14/17 - regular service (oil & filter change) was performed at a local shop. 09/14/17 ' returning to Hyundai service department for this problem to be looked at for a 4th time. I tend to be a cautious driver & give myself plenty of room (rural community) when pulling out into traffic. This defect in the Hyundai Tucson presents two possible tragic scenarios. First & most obvious is being broadsided when pulling out, second is being rear-ended, when the person behind you is expecting forward motion. Very unsafe car!!

The 2016 Hyundai Tucson after the transmission recall, continues to have intermittent no acceleration from a stop / rolling stop. Rpms will increase but it will be 3-5 seconds before the transmission engages when the issue does occur. The car then jolts forwards because of the high rpms. I have had multiple near misses due to this. This problem has the potential to be life threatening and is completely unsafe.

Lack of professionalism and courtesy on Hyundai's part to retract this vehicle is astounding. I'm unsure how there is a 5 star safety rating on this unsafe vehicle. Hyundai has refused to repair my vehicle. Every time it has been seen and "fixed" it comes back worse than it was before. The lag is substantial, it jerks constantly, I can't accelerate when already in motion or stopped in traffic, or even moving out of a parking stall. I am typically in the middle of an intersection when lagging and no acceleration occurs, and all too often I'm already in motion on the interstate and can no longer move. A light came on and said the transmission was overheated twice as a brand new vehicle just going 3mph. My car then died, luckily I was pulled over when I noticed the light. These constant issues I've been having have been since the date of purchase on July 8, 2016. It only had 50 miles on the vehicle at that time. I get regular maintenance and take care of this vehicle, but I can't handle the stress of driving it anymore! every time I submit a claim on here, no one reaches out to resolve this issue. I've spoken with Hyundai national and regional offices, Hyundai service locations, and the BBB. What will it take for you to see that this vehicle is a real danger, not only to me, but to everyone on the road!"!?!?!"!

Dual clutch transmission, will not accelerate, pauses while stopped, in motion, in traffic, on street city and highway. There is no repair other than an update. Hyundai refuses, yes refuses, to fix my car and provide a repair order. Tried taking my car in for the umpteenth time. They will not provide me with a repair order because there is no repair for the dual clutch transmission. So when I filed with the BBB and with Hyundai, Hyundai refused to take my car back claiming I did not have any repair orders. Hyundai locations such as edwards in Iowa and woodhouse in omaha have not documented all of my cars issues nor have they any proof of my being there other than two times. I have taken my car in numerous times, well over 5 times anyway!! the BBB requires documentation of service, but I can't get ahold of the documentation because Hyundai has not done their job to document my cars service. I'm growing extremely tired of Hyundai and wouldn't wish this car on anyone! I still can't accelerate, my car broke down the other day, and nothing is getting better with being serviced. I'm a single parent working part time and going to school, I am tired of having to take this piece of crap in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
