Overheating, at first coolant mysteriously missing with no visible leaks, white smoke, funny buzzing sound, weird smell, like water swooshing sounds, water in the oil, as the coolant leak out the car would stall and kinda spudder like mis-fire. Water is leaking into the block. I financed my 2016 with about 70K miles on it. At the time I believed it was a safe reliable vehicle. I can not afford to purchase a new engine, nor can I break the contract on my terms of financing the purchase. I feel sol and cheated. Please continue the recall to the 2016 models as I've been overall happy with my Ford in the past as well as my second, most recent 2016 Fusion. I know this is a manufacturers defect and they have found the fix for earlier models. Please help fix mine so I can drive confidently and safely on the roads again. Thanks!
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving approximately 45 mph, the vehicle started to overheat with the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and sat for several minutes and then drove the vehicle to his residence. The contact had the vehicle towed to salinas valley Ford Lincoln (1100 auto center cir, salinas, ca 93907) where the vehicle was diagnosed with coolant in the exhaust and cylinder #2 misfire. The vehicle was repaired with a new engine. The brake lines failed and were also repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was partially reimbursed. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
Car wouldn't accelerate. Would stall after pumping gas would overheat when idling. Fans were not turning on canister purge valve stuck open causing the fuel tank and oxygen sensor to fail.. runs rough.
At 78,000 miles my car had a check engine light come on upon starting the engine followed by a drop in power upon starting it. The check engine turned off on my way to the shop, and they were unable to determine why it came on and turned off. About 1 week later it came on again and I had it checked and it was determined that there was a 'cylinder 1 misfire' with a error code P0301. I had the spark plugs and ignition coils all replaced. The check engine light came on again about 2 weeks later after experiencing a drop in power upon starting the vehicle. And shortly turned off again. I then received a 'high coolant temperature' warning while driving, and made a stop to refill my coolant housing to the 'max' line. Not even 2 weeks later I received the same 'high coolant temperature' warning while traveling down the interstate followed by sudden emissions of white smoke out of the exhaust pipes. There was no 'check engine light' on during or after this incident. I pulled the vehicle over and shut the engine off, then had it towed to a trusted mechanic. He determined that the coolant may be leaking into the cylinder 1 causing it to misfire and eventually leading to a blown head gasket. This car was meticulously cared for and maintained and somehow has a blown head gasket before reaching 80,000 miles. The extent of the damage to the engine is still to be determined.
I have a 2016 Ford Fusion and I just recently began experiencing code P302 and losing coolant. I replaced the spark plugs and coil and the light went out for a few weeks but then it came back on and only got worse. On one of those occasions my car literally shut off while driving it on a busy road. Thankfully I was able to maneuver it to the emergency lane. The shut off apparently was due to an engine coolant failure. After speaking with Ford about it I was told that coolant is more than likely leaking and I would need to replace the entire engine. I am filing a complaint with the NHTSA concerning this matter. I can't afford to over 6K for a new motor. I am still making payments and my car sits in the driveway. After doing research I see this is an issue that has been going on for some time, why has a recall not been done due to the ongoing defect.

Service engine light on 2016 Ford Fusion ecoboost came on. Diagnostics displayed code P300. I paid to have this fixed 2 times. The light came back on and the car began to overheat while driving on the expressway. Took the car to Ford and they advised it was a coolant leak in the engine. They advised it was a manufacture defect but wouldn't fix the issue because the warranty was up on the vehicle. Upon doing research, this is a known issue.
I got a 2016 Ford Fusion. I got a cylinder 3 misfire. Had it fix 2 time. But the problem remains the same. Took my for to 2 different Ford companies an they told me the same thing. I got to replace the engine. One told me that it was gonna be 6300$ an the other for say 9300$ cooling have reach the 3 cylinder an cause misfire. Both Ford said it was manufacturing defect. Call the Ford plate an they said they couldn't give me no assistance with this problem. They know it's a manufacture defect an still will not help. If anyone have this same problem can you please help me in the right direction? my car have over heating everyday.
The check engine light came on in my vehicle and it was idling rough so I took it by autozone to get the diagnostic check. It showed P0300, cylinder misfire. I took my vehicle to the Ford dealership but the check engine light had gone off so they changed the spark plugs thinking this would fix it. A few days later, the same thing happened, with the addition of white smoke coming out of the exhaust, while idling. When I took it in the second time, the light was not on anymore and it wasn't smoking. They couldn't replicate the problem. About a week later, when I started the vehicle, it idled rough and then died. When I started it back up, the check engine light was on again and white smoke was coming from the back of the vehicle. When I started driving, on a city street, white smoke began billowing from the exhaust. The smoke was so thick that I couldn't see anything behind me. I immediately called the Ford dealership and made an appointment to get it looked at again. This time they informed me that coolant was leaking into one of the cylinders and that I would need a new engine and it was going to cost $7,300. My car has been in the shop now for almost two weeks waiting for the extended warranty company to make a decision on whether or not they will pay for the repair. Tsb 19-2346 addresses the issue but the vehicle owner still has to pay for the repair if they don't have a warranty or it doesn't cover it. The first incident was on 7/22/20 and the final incident was on 8/14/20.
The check engine light is on. The code was P0304, which is a misfire in cylinder 4. the spark plugs were due for a change, so I changed them, the oil has been changed at recommended intervals, and fuel injector cleaner used when filling up. The new spark plugs did not make the engine light go away after clearing the code. I tested the ignition coils, and they are fine. Also, the coolant level is often low, and I have to put a quart in a week. It is not leaking from anywhere. I started researching, and found that there are many other Ford Fusion with this problem, and the coolant is leaking into a cylinder, and giving the misfire on a certain cylinder code.
There is a misfire on cylinder 1. diagnosed as a coolant leak. It is the same engine that is in the 2017 Fusion that has a recall on the engine due to coolant leak.
Coolant leaked into my cylinders causing the motor to overheat. I was at a stop light when it happened and immediately pulled into a parking lot and shut the engine off.
Check engine light came on and was running rough. It also began to overheat and run low on coolant. The check engine light indicated a misfire in cyclinder 1. I took it to the Ford dealership and was told coolant was leaking into the cyclinder and could not be repaired. I was told I need a new engine. I researched this and saw that this is happening very often to engines like mine. The service manager said there were no recalls but this shouldn't happen. Cyl 2 misfire since 2 months after I bought car at 56K miles. Now overheating, coolant leaking into engine at rate of about a gallon/week. Still have 5 years owed on a $350/mo yard ornament. Ford is awefull!!! same junk as the 1.6L they "fixed."
Ford dealership is stating engine and transmission needs to be replaced. They said this is a known issue with the 1.5L engine and Ford is aware of it. They've never seen the transmission go at the same time. Estimated repairs are $6,300. I'm the original owner, regularly maintained, with 95,000 miles on it. Just turned 4 years old.
I have a car health monitor plugged into my obd II port, it's out just one day read (cylinder 2 misfire) so I drive to work and then call hiltop Ford (richmond ca)to bring it in to see what's wrong. They performed recalls but as far the issue I brought it in for they said, that they had no idea what's wrong with the car and have to replace the entire engine. And directly after telling me this and me leaving I get a call from the sales department trying to set up and appointment to purchase a new vehicle! so now I'm of the mindset that something is fishy. I then took the car to a mechanic I know, during that ride my car begins to overheat, off and on. After getting the car to the mechanic he ran his diagnostics and told me yeah my I have a spark plug that's out and needs to be replaced. I get that done, everything is fine for about 3-4 weeks. Then the same thing happens (cylinder 2 misfire and overheating) at this point I don't trust Ford cause they new they at least knew the spark plugs was out. Back to the mechanic I go, he then let's me know that there's a notice out describing the issue so he told me to contact Ford to see if they'd fix it. Again Ford 'knew nothing' of the sort. And my car just stopped and won't start and it is directly related to the issues the car has had. Now here I am trying to find the best course of action and not have to purchase a new car. Not sure why this isn't recalled when it's happening to a lot of people.

The contact pulled over, opened the hood, and noticed that the coolant level was very low. The contact pulled to a service station and refilled the coolant. The contact stated that when he arrived at his residence, the coolant reservoir was almost empty. The vehicle was taken to elder Ford of troy located at 777 john R road, troy, mi 48083, where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The contact was informed that the failure was a known issue however, the vehicle was 1,000 miles over the warranty limitation. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 135,000.
My car was serviced by koons Ford in balt, md from May 26th-28th to address a recall that required removal of my engine. After the repair, my car sat in my parking space at home the whole weekend due to covid-19. On the following Monday, June 1st, my car engine exploded on I83 while my husband was using my car to go to work. My car was completely engulfed in fire and totaled. Fortunately, my husband was able to quickly get my car to the side of the road as the cabin started to fill with smoke and jump out. Koons Ford told me that they would "shrink wrap" my car at the lot the police had it towed to and bring it back to "investigate how the fire started." They lied and then told my insurance company that they did not cause the fire. In addition, while I was there waiting in their lobby, they told me they would "get me a rental" in the meantime while they investigate. Not only did they lie and imply I was responsible for causing the fire, they tried to stiff me for the cost of the rental. Only after I pushed back, they finally paid the rental bill. My insurance company has paid for the cost of my lost car which I now am bearing additional costs in my insurance coverage. My car had only been serviced by koons Ford and was not experiencing any problems prior to them working on the recall. I have been without a car going on 2 months now as I cannot afford to take on another 4-6 years of car payments as I was closing on a new home at the same time the fire happened. I reached out to fmc and they said they would have someone from customer service contact me which ended up to be yet another lie.
Leaking engine coolant into engine cylinder 3, causing engine to overheat and a crack in the long block. Result: Complete engine failure. Pressure test indicated a 4lbs drop in 4 minutes, which should not occur in that short amount of time. Through the ecc test indicated error codes P0304 and P0316 as well as that cylinders 3 and 4 have multiple misfires. Continued diagnosis discovered that coolant was coming out of the tailpipe which indicates an internal leak in the engine and that cylinder 3 pressure drops during power balance test. Crack in engine block due to overheating. Complete engine failure recommend new engine. This a mfg defect and is the same as the defect described in safety recall 17S09 that includes 2013- 2014 Fusion. Ford never fixed the problem. Recall needs to be expanded to include 2015-2019 models. Defect presents a fire hazard if cylinder head cracks it may result in a pressurized oil leak resulting in a fire in the engine compartment
Engine coolant leaking in engine - engine long block needs replaced after 77,000 miles. Car overheated on a short trip - low on antifreeze apparently it was leaking into the engine block - took it to Ford dealer and they stated the long block needed to be replaced. Vehicle was serviced regularly and issue prior to this was the engine RPM were advancing but the engine speed was not engaged- took it in for repair and they replaced a fuel sensor - 1 month before the coolant started leaking into the engine

The vehicle was taken to bill estes Ford located at 450 East North field dr, brownsburg, in 46112, to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that coolant leaked into cylinder #1 and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 85,000.
