CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2013 Fusion doesn’t have the same track record of power steering failure as the previous 3 model years. Of course, those owners said their steering failed at 60k–100k miles. So this appears to be a classic "wait and see" scenario.
In the meantime, there’s plenty of interior accessory problems to complain about. By themselves, each is a barely a blip on the radar. But combined, they give you that feeling of what the hell have I gotten myself into?

The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 47,000. Consumer stated vehicle was repaired.

My son was driving his Ford Fusion yesterday when suddenly the power steering assist fault indicator came on and he lost all power steering capabilities. Luckily he was able to manhandle the car to a parking lot. According to the dealership, the car is not affected by a previous recall involving this same issue.

I was making a turn when my power steering went out and there was a message saying power steering assist fault. I took it to the car dealership where I had purchased my car and they said it was the electric power steering gear and I had researched that some previous cars had been recalled for that exact problem.
Power steering gear failed while driving on highway. I nearly lost control of my vehicle. Vehicle has approximately 48K miles, this same part is covered under other Ford Fusion recalls but not this specific VIN. Ford dealership quoted $2600 to repair.

Loss of electric power steering assist on the power steering control module (pscm) due to a pigtail connection. This is a huge safety issue as the power steering could turn off while driving and cause an accident. Car was no longer drive-able.

Has cracked steering drive motor mounting ear cowl leaking on ele motor and steering rack causing corrosion then rust jacking braking off motor mounting ear this is the 6th one in our fleet some lost steering
Power steering motor mounting ears are cracking due to corrosion we have some of them loose control of the steering this is a fleet car this is a common problem Ford just replaced two for free thet out of warranty
It has been reported that 2014-2018 Ford Fusion steering wheel can come loose and in some cases detach while driving. I'd like to report that my 2013 Fusion titanium is also experiencing a loose steering wheel that's progressively getting looser. It has not detached during driving. I first noticed it about 4 months ago. I was driving when I first noticed it.
Takata inflators I could not see headlight would go off and on and my steering wheel would shake uncontrollably came close to 3 fatal accidents every time things went wrong I was driving on the freeway me and my kids came so close to loosing our lives
The steering wheel on my 2013 Fusion titanium is loose. Current recall covers 2014. The steering wheel can rock back and forth and side to side with ease and moves over a half inch.
Cracked steering drive motor on rack and pinion causing loss of steering cowl is leaking on drive motor and wiring harness causing corrosion then pushing the two parts apart then cracking the 4th one in our fleet to do this has 22170 miles on
