CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2013 Fusion doesn’t have the same track record of power steering failure as the previous 3 model years. Of course, those owners said their steering failed at 60k–100k miles. So this appears to be a classic "wait and see" scenario.
In the meantime, there’s plenty of interior accessory problems to complain about. By themselves, each is a barely a blip on the radar. But combined, they give you that feeling of what the hell have I gotten myself into?

Was having a slow coolant leak into the engine. Was told by Ford that it was potentially a cracked cylinder head. Took it to a mechanic only to find out that it was not a cracked cylinder head but a warped engine blocked after only 130K miles and 6 years. Car has been in shop for nearly two weeks while we try to decide what we need to do.
I have had repeated problems with this vehicle, and now it is on my credit record because it is beyond repair, and I returned it to the finance company where I purchased it from. I had to replace the lug nuts because the factory lug wrench wouldn't work, the engine ran hot (regularly) leading to long term engine damage, the transmission had been replaced twice since I began financing the car. The car only had 64K miles when I began financing it, by 77K, the transmission had to be replaced twice (first time in Dec.18, and then Jan.19), and it still shifted hard (at times) and still made a strange sound. I am involved in a class action suit over the transmission, but the repairs were aftermarket (and media indicates that even the manufacturer is not capable of fixing the problem) in approximately the month of may, 2019, the vehicle also would not start (key would not turn/no lights came on, etc.). I contacted the carmaker, and they had stated that they'd "never heard of this kind of issue before", but they did offer to purchase the vehicle back from me (at market value), but they became disinterested when I told them that I was financing the vehicle from elsewhere.
This Ford Fusion has been progressively dying as it comes to a stop or when just driving. It has been starting back up immediately but lately seems to not to start as quickly. Also strange noise like blowing or puffing sound from under hood. This is on city streets and when slowing down for ramp stops. Called dealership and until codes show up they can't tell us nothing.

The car creates a constant loud air suction noise when accelerated. The sound becomes louder the faster you go when stepping on the acceleration pedal. There is no sound when the car is in idle and rolling without stepping on the acceleration pedal. The car was taken into the dealership for routine maintenance and asked to be drove by dealership to diagnose the sound. There are no warning lights or codes showing up. The dealership could not diagnose the problem.
Engine cylinder head overheats and leaks oil recall driving down the interstate this morning in rush hour traffic my car started shuttering. I was able to get to the side of the road before my dashboard went crazy stating my car overheated. When I got towed to the mechanic they discovered my coolant was leaking and it busted one of my cylinders which put a hole in my engine. When I called Ford they stated my VIN wasn't included in the recall. I have the exact make, model and engine mentioned in the recall and exactly what they warned would happen, happened, but I was told it was a coincidence. I had no warning whatsoever. My temperature gauge was fine and there hasn't been anything leaking. This is a serious problem. I do not believe in coincidences this big.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Fusion. While driving 15 mph, the overheat temperature warning indicator illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle was running hot. The contact noticed that there was no temperature gauge to indicate that the vehicle was running hot. The contact had to pull up the digital dash display of the temperature coolant to see the coolant temperature. When the contact turned on the air conditioner to cool the temperature down, the temperature gauge indicator turned off and returned to normal. The contact also stated that there was no coolant sensor in the vehicle. In addition, while driving, the contact had to turn the air conditioner back on, but it did not turn off the temperature gauge indicator. Also, the check engine warning indicator illuminated. Furthermore, while driving up a hill, the engine began to shake and the temperature and engine warning indicators illuminated. The contact waited a while before restarting the vehicle and driving off. The contact stated that the coolant level was fine when the vehicle was serviced in June. The contact stated that there was no coolant sensor to warn that the coolant level was low. The contact was a former Ford technician and diagnosed the vehicle. A cylinder head temperature overheat code appeared. The dealer was not contacted and the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified via chat and referred the contact to NHTSA. The failure mileage was 95,000.
Car struggles to crank after fueling up. It does not matter how much gas I have it will have to turn over three plus times to crank. Researched and numerous Fusion have the same issue. It could be the purge valve. I have ordered the piece to put on soon.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Fusion. The contact received a recall notice for NHTSA campaign number: 12V551000 (engine and engine cooling). The contact drove to malloy Ford of charlottesville (2070 seminole trail, charlottesville, va 22901, 434-977-7960) and had the recall repair performed. Afterwards, while driving 35 mph, the vehicle's extreme heat warning indicator began to flash and made beeping sounds. Simultaneously, the vehicle began to lose power. The contact pulled off to the side of the road and shut off the vehicle. The vehicle was towed back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the cooling valve and sensor were defective. The contact paid to have the vehicle repaired. After the vehicle was repaired, the contact continued to experience the same failure on multiple occasions. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and agreed to pay 50% towards the cost of a new motor. The contact was also informed that they could not guarantee that the failure would not recur despite having a new motor. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
While I started reversing towards my driveway entrance my vehicle got completely paralyzed as I changed gears from drive to reverse, my steering wheel, brakes and shift gear stoped responding, I managed to carefully move my car to a safety location but I was in a dangerous situation when I had to let my car slide down the road of my house in order to let the traffic (I had unintentionally caused) carry on. I then, put my cars emergency brake on and called my mechanic. Luckily for me, this all happen infront of my house, actually, after the 2 hour drive I had finished coming from, my concerns are what if this incident would have happen outside of my town, or in the highway, my safety and even my own life was on the line for a few minutes, I can only be lucky for so long. A couple days after, I came to find out I did not have one recall incomplete but 3!, even more shocking, I did not receive notices for any of the 3 recalls from my cars dealership. I went to them immediately and now am waiting for them to call me back to schedule an appointment I been trying to make already for the past week but till today, I have yet not received a date.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Fusion. While driving at an unknown speed, the check engine and low coolant indicators illuminated. I went into my local Ford dealership for a recall on July 2, 2019 and also told them my engine light was on and my car was overheating. In the last two years my vehicle has had two recalls fixed for this issue. I noticed within the last week not only was the engine light on but as I was driving the car began to suddenly jerk and start to overheat. I called Ford customer service and they told me the recall for this issue for this was resolved and completed twice in the last two years... obviously not. I went to pick up my car from the service and noticed it was just sitting in the front outside of the service so I went to find someone for the keys. My vehicle would not start so they had to give me a jump. I asked to speak to the manager because my vehicle has no problems starting when I dropped it off that morning. So the manager came back after a while talking to the mechanic working on my vehicle and said "they had to jump it a few times because it kept turning off". so now I'm upset because he's telling me whoever installed it put in a smaller one than the one that should be there. I told him that's funny because I bought the vehicle here less than two years ago and it hasn't been changed since. Now my vehicle will not turn on and has been sitting in the garage ever since because I can't afford the costly repairs.
