Driving down the highway my truck will downshift for no reason. Sometimes a big bang will be felt in the rear end & the big wrench symbol will appear & all other controls don't work. There is a recall for this 16S19 & 19S07. I took my truck to the Yreka Ford dealership & was told it needed the molded lead frame replaced but the recall has ended. Still a definite safety issue but it's not covered? How can a safety recall expire but issue is still a safety issue. Still happening & it's very scary when it does. Part is on backorder!! I can't locate my paperwork from Yreka Ford in Yreka, CA.

I have a 2011 Ford F150 that I bought brand new from Capitol Ford Wilmington NC. This truck had a recall in 2020 that involved violent downshifting of transmission while at highway speeds. I took it for recall servicing by Capitol Ford Wilmington NC. I trusted them to repair this vehicle. They simply reprogrammed the LEAD FRAME inside the transmission. They said that would take care of the problem. See attached service ticket. I have only driven this vehicle in my local area as it only has 97k original miles on it. Recently I tried to drive it on a trip at highway speeds. Suddenly without warning the transmission shifted into low gear at highway speed with engine light coming on. We narrowly averted being killed. This vehicle has shifted in an odd manner for a long time. I just thought it was Fords design that did this. I took it to my local shop they immediately diagnosed the transmission LEAD FRAME as faulty. Ford should have replaced this when they had it in 2020. They said they didn't because the engine light wasn't on. Well, it's not on now either. I think this has been a problem inside the transmission for a long time. And Ford knew it. The Ford reps I contacted told me that I'm out of the extended recall period of 10 years for this problem. They also claim I was sent further recall requests for this in 2021. I received NO SUCH RECALL REQUESTS. They should have fixed this when they had it for the recall in 2020 well within the extended warranty recall period. Now not only did it try to kill us but I'm stuck fixing something Ford should have corrected. Please help us. Very disingenuous on Fords Part.

My truck transmission suddenly shifted down to first gear and would not shift back out. fortunately I was travelling only about 30 mph. Eventually it shifted into 3rd gear and locked into "limp mode". Factory told me they will not honor their recall on this since my truck is more than 10 years old. This is a serious safety issue especially if travelling above 60 mph and in heavy traffic. Consumers need better safety responsibility from Ford on these serious safety design flaws.

Vehicle shifts into 1st gear while truck is moving and will not shift tkk ok any other gears. Known issue at dealership, but says it-??s out of warranty. If less than 10 years or 150000 miles, they had a recall providing parts and labor. If a vehicle going 60 mph downshifted into 1st gear, it-??s a safety issue and in my opinion should not have a time/mileage limitations. Thank you
