I have a 05 Ford F-150...Completely true of what the other users are experiencing. Roll the window up, "BANG!" followed by the glass quickly dropping into the door. Makes a grinding noise when I try to roll it up, nothing happens. The part has to come directly from the dealership at a cost of 140 to 175 with an additional 120-150 for labor. Ended up spending 295 for the repair. The manager said it would take an hour and a half to fix and conveniently they had the part in stock. (lucky me). The repair was done in 20 minutes and NOT an hour and a half as he quoted over the phone.
I've driven a Ford for the last 30 years and I wanted to get another Ford next year, but if the other windows do this, I may have to see what Chevy and Dodge have for this is clearly an issue ford seems to be ignoring.
Over a period of 12 months I had to replace all window 4 regulators in my F150; after the first 2 I carried duct tape because I knew it was only a matter of time
Recall the prob!!!!I only have 30000 miles on my 05 Lariat.Two of my windows are Done.$4oooo grand for a vehicle and you can't cover the cost??Come on Ford,Don't be CHEAP!!!!!
In July 2009, we were driving down the road and the back passenger window would roll down all by it self, we would roll it back up and it continued to roll down, the last time it dropped down in the door and broke. Took it to a auto repair shop and they replace the window regulator and glass window, cost us $465.36 to replace, we only had 16,522 miles on this truck, we don't drive it that often, but I ask this, who in his right mine would make a window regulator carriage out of PLASTIC ?????? Especially for people in the hot south in Texas. The truck was paid for and warranty expired, or so we were told.
I want my money back, Ford get you act together, these beautiful trucks with junkyard parts is an embarrassment to you and your company. Even when I called Ford Credit Co. about pay off on this truck, I couldn't even understand the person I was talking too...
I asked him where are you at, in Taiwan, what I said, I want to speak to someone in America, finally was able to speak with a person in Dallas Texas. Bring our business back to America, make the parts in America, all other countries parts are JUNK!
Surprised it didn't happen earlier in the truck's life having known that this is a common problem on these trucks. I lived at an apartment complex that required a code to get in the gate so the window regulator was in operation almost daily for 2 years.
This is the second window in three weeks. Driving down the road the window just fell into the door. This is a severe safety problem. Where is Ford? No where... I did just a casual search of the problem and found NUMEROUS websites with very angry customers plagued with this issue. I expected more... Unless Ford finds their sense of responsibility.. I am done with the company.
2005 Ford F-150 XLT passenger side window has fallen into the door and will not come back up. 31k miles and lightly used. Like most others on here it sounds like the regulator. I guess Ford still has not owned up to this problem?
My 2005 Ford F-150 XLT Super Crew 4x4 has been nothing but trouble. I have had both front hub assemblies replaced; the front passenger hub assembly has been replaced twice. These failing really sucks when you expect a four-wheel drive vehicle to be, well, 4-wheel drive. I had the transmission re-built at 26,000 miles and now my rear passenger window regulator has failed. It is 95 degrees outside and my window is down permanently. I am dropping it off to my mechanic today who said he can fix it for $200, parts and labor. I refuse to take it to the dealer as they would only rip me off again! Ford really builds crap these days. I will not buy Ford again, ever!
I have a 2005 f-150 NASCAR XLT Super Crew Cab Special Edition series. I paid a crap load of money for this thing. My driver window went out a month ago and it was the regulator failure. loud pop and down goes the window. I had it fixed and now the Passenger side window has done the same thing. This is completely ridiculous.
1st i had an extended warranty from this company called Continental warranty 7/100000,so i thought i was good my back rt passenger cant be controlfrom rear the left rear window came down and never came back up.So the dealer called the warranty co.the warrantyrefuse to pay for regulator,becacuse it's not a covered part, but the motor is.Now get this when you buy the motor the regulator is attached you can't buy them separately.We need to come together because this a defective part which is costing us alot of money,if we do this together Ford can be made fix these windows on recall if anyone knows how to go about this I will gladly help,I love my Ford f150 but i dont like to be made a fool of.
Update from Jul 1, 2010: 3 days later my front passenger regulater broke evrytime i let my windows down i wait for that terrible sound. thats 800.00 dollars in one whoop hard on a fixed income
Update from Aug 6, 2010: this aug 8 2010 friday morning backs out the drive start to drive my street pop there goes window # 3 drivers window !00 degree weather and all.This just doesnt make any sense these regulators in this model ford has to be deffective. Is their anyone out there with fords main address so i can write their product manager
My right front window went down and wouldn't come up. I could still hear the motor trying to work. I thought my extended warranty would cover it, but not. I was told it was a power window regulator that was not covered by warranty and cost me $300. I see by these complaints that it is not an isolated problem. How can we be sure that the dealer isn't calling it something that is not covered by warranty? My drivers side window rattles when down so it is probably ready to fail. I have always been a Ford man, but this is crap.
While cruising down the highway, I decided to turn on my A/C to cool the inside down. I rolled up my drivers side window and a crackling noises occurred as if a gun shot hit the side of truck. I looked all around and didn't see any damage, but when I stopped, the drivers side window fell into the door. I took the truck into a glass repair shop and they told me the window was fine, but the regulator needed replacing. I have 32000 miles on my truck, so like most Ford dealership, they refused to accept responsibility for the defective unit based on being out of warranty. It cost $349.00 to repair (but not using Ford as the repair company). "Ford, Built Tough", yeah right.
In December of 08 I replaced the power window regulator on the drivers door. It was covered under the warranty so it only cost me a hundred bucks. Today May 24, 2010 I replaced the rear passengers door window regulator. It cost me $417.76 because the extended warranty ran out in 2009. Seems to me Ford has a serious problem here. How long is it going to be before I have to replaced the other two regulators? Just a side note, my wife drives a 2004 Pontiac Gran Prix with 61000 miles and all four of the power window regulators are the original ones. Maybe thats the answer.
Well, now I have two new window regulators, one on the passenger side and one on the driver side. I filed a complaint mid 2009 about my passenger side. Sure enough within months the drivers side broke down. The window was slightly opened without me opening it and within a mile the window went all the way down and stayed there. Like I said before, this has got to be a design error or poor materials. If an engine or transmission can last over a 100,000 miles with daily use you would think a window would maintain its operation for more than 15,000 or 16,000 miles. Ford should step up to this and at least pay for the part replacement if not for both the labor cost and parts.
the first time happened it was passenger side. Less than a year it was on the driver side. First time took back to dealer where it cost ME 300.00. This it was drivers side and my son fixed it. The little sliding window in the back window does not work either. I BOUGHT this truck because it is suppose to be FORD tough. Well not only have I had these problems but I had replace engine at 26,000 miles.
Built Ford Tough! Where did they get that add. Recently I have spent 800.00 replacing 8 spark plugs and a coil. On top of that they told me I need to replace cam phaser whaterver the ^#%# that is. I just know it is another 1400.00. Low and behold Monday the drivers side windows will not go up and down. Took me about half hour before I finally got it to a point where the 20 below temps are not rushing in. Sounds like that will be another 400.00. When does it stop.
This is vechicle I was hoping to drive for a lifetime. Yeah sure! 56,000 miles and nothing but trouble. Come on Ford! Live up to your add and start fixing these problems. Built Ford Tough! Yeah if you have an open checkbook.
Reading all the complaints on this issue really pisses me off! I barely have 40,000 miles and I have regulator failure. I can't believe there hasn't been a recall. And talking with Ford, they state if its not a safety issue there will never be a recall. Really ,come on Ford, this is truly pathetic that Built Ford Tough doesn't mean crap anymore. Cheaper parts but still charge high $$$$. Luckily I am from a mechanical back ground and can fix this issue myself, ($100.00-Kragen/O'Rielys plus 2-3 hours time) but for the average joe this may get pricey if you go to the dealer ($175.00 plus labor). Ford you truly need to step it up, fix the default and take care of your customers. Oh and now starting to see the back electric slider tends to stick too (lovely).
