Lost both front regulators with in a week of each other. Vehicle has ~50k miles

At $385 per regulator ( crew cab ) I can expect to spent $1,600 to keep all window working. Add this to the new transmisson at 35k miles ( $3k ), and the cam phasers at 30k miles ( $2.8k ) and the brakes 3 times and this truck has been a money pit.

My advice for what it's worth, "Do Not Buy FORD !"

The vehicle was parked at my home, my wife and I had gone to the store in her vehicle and when we got home she noticed the window on the drivers side down and when we inspected the trouble the glass had fell down in the door. I purchased the regulator at the dealer and a friend of mine (a ford mechanic) replaced it for me! Needless to say this is the last ford I will buy. Not even to the 30000 mile checkup. Piss on Ford!

It was the driver's window switch. Piss poor quality when the switch goes out with less then 34000 miles on the truck. The passenger door switch went out a month later. The service writer tried to give me grief over that switch, saying the truck was now out of warranty. I had bought the truck 4 months prior as a Certified Used from this dealer. I stomped over to my salesman and raised some hell and they paid for the switch. Now have 72000 miles and starting to have switch problems again with both switches, and this time I will have to pay for it.

Cannot use passenger side window. It is definitely annoying. I do not use the RH window as much, so it was a surprise that it broke. I am waiting for the part to come so I still do not know how much it will cost me.

Called Ford Motor this morning regarding the fourth window that we had to have the window regulator replaced. Guess what the fourth window is out of warranty. The other three were covered under the warranty. Dealership charged Ford $1,000. per regulator to replace when it was under warranty. Today's repair was $452.00. Did the window regulator deprecate in value? Anyway Ford said that there has not been one complaint regarding the window regulator filed except ours. I explained that I was on a website that listed over 100 of them. Apparently you have to call Ford so that they can list the problem before they will send a note to their engineers. I ask the gentleman shouldn't the dealer be responsible to report unusual amounts of one part being replaced on the same type of vehicle? He had no reply for that one. The purchasing dealer told my husband there was plastic in the regulator which cracked very easy and that Ford should have made them of metal. The repairing dealership acted like this was the first one that they replaced. My husband said that he has replaced so much plastic the next vehicle will not be a Ford. This truck is in mint condition with only 29,212 miles. Ford where are your ethics evidently they were tossed out the window just so that you can make a buck.

I have 150,000 miles on my Ford F-150. Understanding the window regulator is not the issue on the truck with this kind of mileage. The problem is that i have had 6 regulators go bad... yep the truck has 4 windows and each has gone up. now the second time on the front right. The windows on the front and back of the right side have gone bad twice. These are the windows the least used.

I took the door panel off to see if it was just off the track there is a black piece of the regulator that the cable goes through. the "CHEAP" piece of plastic is not sold separately. Ford needs to use better material.

(OK, I've already submitted a complaint about this issue but it hasn't hit the site yet do to the back log. If you can connect the two that would be great.) After reading the other posts and finding out that Ford's excuse for not issuing a recall for this problem is that they claim it isn't a safety issue I wanted to add my opinion on the matter. I'm here to tell you that when a truck window falls into a door without any warning out of the blue, the bang is LOUD! If I had been driving when it happened I know it would have startled me enough to possibly make me lose control of the truck, can I say I would have definitely wrecked, no, but was it a definite possibility, YES! Not to mention what would happen if it were the driver side say, during heavy rain or snow, a dust storm as another poster suffered, extreme heat or cold when you are far from home, etc.....And with my newborn in the truck!...... SHAME on Ford for claiming this isn't a safety issue!

Just as others have said this happened out of the blue. No funny noises, no rubbing or grinding sounds to indicate that something was messing up, nothing! I go out to get in the truck and head to work this morning, open the front passenger side door and set my bags down, hear a thump and turn around to see that my window had fallen into the door! Had to get the entire window assembly from the dealer at $180 plus change to fix it, luckily my husband is a shade tree kind of guy so he fixed it himself. Meanwhile, because we share this vehicle and have too kids that can't be taken to child care in a truck with no window in November, we both lost half a day's pay because he doesn't get leave time at all and I have none because I just got off maternity leave this week! Oh yeah, and you can imagine how happy my boss is that I had to call in during my first week back to work! I love my truck but we've had two recalls repaired at no cost to us since we bought it used not even two years ago, and now this! Come on! Ford bite the bullet, make the recall, start taking responsibility and fixing your $h!t. Now I'm just waiting for the next recall or the next window to break.....

This is my 5th Ford Vehicle. I have never had to replace any window regulators on any of my Fords until now. My oldest son had to go practice for a motorcross race the following day. We got all loaded up and as I opened my drivers side door, the glass just dropped down in side the door. I couldn't believe it. Already cutting time close, this was the last thing I needed. We had to drive an hour and half to get to the track and there was no way I was going to drive that 81 miles on the highway with the window down. I was pissed. I took the door apart and clamped vice grips on each rail to hold it in place. It vibrates and drives me insane. I am a Marine. I work hard for what I have and I keep it in nice shape. This really chapped my ass. I called Ford on Monday cause they were open on Saturday. It is amazing how much it cost just for the part. I was very shocked to see how many 2005s have this same issue. From the sounds of it, I should be expecting the rest to go soon. Was bullshit. Thanks Ford for going cheap on your parts. I hope the executives at Ford enjoy their hefty salaries and pensions while guys like us put it on the line every 6 to 12 months for their freedom and safety.

The other day I promised my two young sons that I would take them fishing on Skaha Lake. It was a beautiful morning and we set out early. My kids had been waiting all week for the trip. As we neared the lake i rolled up the drivers side window and heard a loud bang. I thought someone threw a rock at the side of my truck. I rolled down the window to look at the side of my truck and the window fell into the door. Fantastic. Within site of the boat launch. The area was crowded and I could not leave the truck insecure so we had to turn around. With crying kids I went to the nearest body shop. (Ford was closed on the weekend....surprise surprise) and they took a look and said the regulator was shot. I will be out over $300 and most importantly, a day fishing with the kids was cancelled. Thanks Ford.....thanks.

Both of the power windows broke on this F-150 before it turned 40,000 miles. They broke within a few months of each other. One cost $400 to repair at Firestone, the other I took to the dealer, who charged $450. I'm pretty steamed.

It's my third F-150, and my last. For sure. Period.

Just like all the rest; I was driving along and the passenger side window just fell into the door, it was so loud it scared the sh*t out of me too. I had recently read all the reports concerning the window problems and was just wondering when would it happen to me. With these many dead on complaints I knew it would be just a matter of time before it would happen to me. Now with that said and done; I guess we just sit back and wait on the next three to fall right. Ford are you listening; you can deny this now but when you guys are fighting a major liable lawsuit in some court room concerning this premature failure just bet there will be plenty of ammunition to help sink that boat.

WTF over...I had my driver side window fixed because the damn thing fell inside the door...cost me nothing...that was last year...however...the @$#@ thing just fell inside the door again....Oh and by the way...it's no longer under warranty....but really...same window almost less than a year apart.

I used to love Ford...but they are really starting to piss me off...I used to own Ford stock...but guess what...sold that &^%$ too....FORD (Found On Road Disabled). Really FORD...step up to the plate, recall and fix the &^%$ issue!!!!

I have been a new Ford buyer for several years. Usually when they get around 50,000 miles I trade them in for a new one. My latest purchase is a 2004 Ford F-150 Super Crew 4x4, which is the late year production, so it is the same as the 2005 model as far as used parts are concerned. $39,000 list price and a beautiful truck to me. The driver's side window regulator decided to break on our way to the store one day (mind you, the truck only had approximately 3,000 miles on it). The dealer fixed it under warranty; not a problem. The truck now has just under 24,000 miles as of 8/10/2011. as you can tell, not used much. I have since replaced the driver's side regulator once and the passengers side twice, which brings us to six if you count the originals. This morning I was driving down the road, heard a pop and looked over to the passenger's side front window. It was fine. When I got out of the truck, the right rear window was down about 2 inches. Here we go again. I have been a mechanic and body man for 38 years and of course fix my own problems. I feel sorry for those of you who are "money out of pocket" for repairs. I don't really want to switch brands, but if something doesn't change, that is exactly what will happen.

Same problem as I had in March of last year, the window fell into the door on 7/31/11. I had to have the window regulator replaced at a cost of $357.67 this time. This was the window on the driver's side (so two have now been replaced). I have never had to have a window regulator replaced on any car/truck that I have ever owned, now two for the 2005 F150. Perhaps a problem you think? The dealers stock the regulator, they are making money on it, Ford has not accepted responsibility for taking care of an ongoing problem. If they won't deal with this problem, I'll not be dealing with Autoway Ford in Bradenton, or any other Ford dealer in the future.
