I ONLY PUSHED THE POWER WINDOW BUTTON TO OPEN AND THE WHOLE THING JUST FELL INSIDE MY DOOR. I CALLED A MOBILE WINDOW REPAIRMAN AND HE SAID THAT THE "PLASTIC" (USED TO BE METAL) ACTUATOR AND REGULATOR BROKE AND THE BELT IS BROKE AS WELL. "IT'S A DEALERSHIP FIX" HE SAID. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND LOW AND BEHOLD THE I ONLY HAD DRIVE TRAIN WARRANTY (MY BAD, LESSON LEARNED, BUT OF COURSE WHEN I BOUGHT THE TRUCK THEY SAID WELL IT ALREADY HAS A BRAND NEW AC IF ANYTHING ELSE GOES OUT IT WILL COST CLOSE TO NOTHING) SO THEY CHARGED ME $89 TO RUN DIAGNOSTICS AND THE $400 ON TOP OF THAT. WHAT DO YOU DO OR SAY. I ASKED IF I COULD DO IT MY SELF BUT FORD SAID IF THEY DONT INSTALL IT, IT WOULD VOID THE PRODUCT WARRANTY IF SOMETHING WOULD HAPPEN TO IT IF I INSTALLED IT. AS MUCH AS VEHICLES COST TODAY AND WITH ALL THE GOVERNMENT HELP THE AUTO MAKERS GET YOU WOULD THINK IF YOU BOUGHT A VEHICLE PERIOD ANYTHING THAT GOES WRONG SHOULD BE COVERED FOR THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE AND STOP CATEGORIZING EVERYTHING IN SUB CATEGORIES "WEAR AND TEAR PARTS" AND "EXTENDED WARRANTY", IT'S JUST NOT RIGHT.

Second time in 5 1/2 months....Rolled the window down to get some air on the way home after running a few miles on the track and the window falls all the way down. Take it to the dealer and after my extended warranty Im out $100 to get it fixed :(. Today 12 Jan 10 window rolls down but is not coming up. Same prob I believe so off to the dealer and the window switch is bad, Down goes another $100 deductible. I wish For would own up to these crappy window switch and regulator parts..Just makes it hard to buy American. BTW this is my 3rd Ford and second F-150.

Well, here's another sad story on window regulators and Ford F150. I just experienced my second window on my 2005. The first occurred around 26,XXX miles but luckily covered by the factory warranty. This one failed to close after opening. Second one failed yesterday. It started with the loud pop while setting in a parking lot. A few minutes later traveling 70 mph the window fell. I was in heavy traffic but was lucky nothing happened to cause a accident. I too am disappointed in Ford after all the quality talk and buy American products. I paid for a extended warranty but this ordeal will still cost me $100 and one day without my work vehicle. A friend told me it happened to his Ford Expedition and he was quoted over $500 for repair. After reading a few reports here, this is a real problem and Ford needs to step up and take responsibility on this one. Now, I wonder when the next one goes!

Add me to the list. In March my driver's side window there was a loud pop then the window fell inside the door. At that time you could only buy the part from a ford dealership and it was $180. They told me that they would put it in for anouther $200 (not to mention i was 800 miles over the warenty and would not cover it). I fixed it myself. I would recommend doing it yourself it was not that hard. I know I will not be buying a FORD again. This is a joke they need to recall the regulator. nothing but a way for them to soke us for more $$$$$$$$$$$$.

I have replaced the power window regulators, motors, and cable on my Ford F-150 Lariat Supercrew 3, yes 3, times in the past 2 months. Every time the malfunction occurred, I was driving down the road and heard a loud pop and the window has fallen into the door. I don't see how this is not a safety issue because I have almost lost control of the truck each time it happened. Each time it cost ME $300 that I don't really have, especially this time of year. I am appalled that Ford does not have a recall for this problem, especially after reading all of the complaints that I have read on this website and over the internet alone. I am simply in shock and can't believe that this is happening to so many people and Ford is not willing to do anything about it. Please go the US DOT NHTSA website and file a complaint. Also, I called Ford Service, or lack there of, at 1-800-392-3673. Again, this is unbelievable to me!

This is my second window regulator to go out in less than a year. My first (driver's side door) one went out the day after Thanksgiving last year and all the mechanics at the dealership had the day off work, so I had to wait until tuesday of the following week to get it fixed. Luckily it was still covered by the warranty. The second one (driver's side rear door) happened this morning on my way to work. I was able to get it in to be fixed quicker this time, but this one won't be covered because the warranty has expired. I've been trying to save up some money for a nice Christmas for my family, but this is going to put a big dent in my plans. It looks like by the number of complaints about this same problem Ford needs to stand up take care of it's customers and fix this problem. I don't think at this time Ford can afford to lose loyal customers such as myself, but when stuff like this happens it makes you want to look at different makes of vehicles. The other thing that bugs me about this problem is when this regulator goes out the window just drops down. The first time this happened to me, it did it during the night leaving it vulnerable for theft of the truck or anything I had inside. It seems like they could design these things so that the window will stay up even if the part fails.

This could be a long gripe session but I will try to give the readers digest version. First let me start by saying I owned a 2000 f150 and the only problem of consequence was the transmission going out, which was covered under the 100 thousand mile drive train warranty .For this reason I bought a 2005 f150 lariat fully loaded, all the bells and whistles, 38,000. dollars.

OK... here we go. Within the first 17,000 miles front brake pads and rotors shot. I'm almost 50 yrs. old.....I don't drive or brake aggressively... went to the dealership to fix the problem. Told the service writer about my great 2000 f150 not needing brakes until about 40-50,000 miles. His response, this is a whole different truck here, you can't compare this 2005 f150 to your old truck, thats like apples and oranges. My response was, arent you suspose to be improving your vehicles from one yr to the next, since your prices always go up. Service writer......jerk, no empathy. Speaking of service writers, is it just me or have others experienced a flippant, arrogance, thats the way it is attitude? just curious. Anyway back to the truck. Ford did cover this under some kind of recall isssue, replacing rotors and calipers with heavier duty parts. On to more miles and more problems......My truck is in the shop right now getting widows fixed...again. They want 560.00 to replace the motor to the sliding rear window...which I have opened maybe 10 times in 5 yrs. How could the motor be bad.....wear and tear? All the other windows have had numerous problems...regulators, switches, motors, etc. Be ready if you own this truck, this has to be either sub-standard parts or a design/manufacture problem.Bottom line is that if you own this truck you will have window problems again and again. Speaking of again and again.. brings me to the next issue. Coils for your valves. I don't know exactly how these work but I;m on my 3rd one. it's 360.00 every time they fix one There are of course 8 of these. Symptoms of these going out act like your transmission, knocking, lack of acceleration, missing etc, Anyway, I have to take my kid to football. These are the problems I've encountred, Ford I'm dissappointed in this product, especially for what I paid. Good ,luck to everyone!!!!

This is the exact same problem as everyone else is listing. Traveling down the road and heard a loud thump from the drivers side door. Hit the power window button to roll down the window and take a look. The window fall into the door. The motor is clicking but nothing is happening. Take the door panel apart and see the cable from the regulator has busted loose.

Called two separate dealerships to check prices and find that the part is just shy of $200 and they estimate labor to be 2 hours at $95 an hour. No break on labor even though I already have the door pulled apart and window film taken off.

I mentioned to both dealerships that I found this site and neither of them sounded surprised at the number of complaints. One dealership did mention that they are redesigning the part but doesn't budge on price or labor for a known issue. I have been a loyal Ford man but after this fiasco am thinking of turning into a Chevy man.

Well, Like most here, I used to be a "FORD" guy. However, this truck has slapped me into a melancoly daze and I hate to say but I am looking at buying a Toyota. After driving home last night I went to roll up my window when I heard a painfully familar pop, grind, and dropping sound. Thats right, this is the second time in two years I have had a regulator fail. The first time was only a couple of months ago and I spent almost $500 fixing it through the dealership. Now after seeing how many people are dealing with this I am disgusted with Ford. After spending 3 unsuccessful hours trying to remove the door panel I now I have some cardboard wedged into the window to keep it up. I'm note sure what I'm going to do now but I can't afford another $500 to get it fixed. Wish me luck!

Yesterday as I was getting ready to go to work got in the truck. I rolled down the windows to et the dew off of them rolled them back up heard a pop on drivers door. I went ahead and headed off to work hit a bump in the road and the window fell into the door. So I turned around went back home called in sick. Waited for a bit then head off to the dealership to get it fixed when they opend up. I have had several Fords in the past and this was the first problem that I had that let me down. Ford needs to do a recall or admit to the problem and fix it for free or extend the warranty on them like they did on the injectors for the 05 5.4 engine.
