CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2016 Edge is starting to show a similar trend to the prior model year of the engine stalling while driving, which owners report is typically caused by low-mileage problems with the throttle body. This is typically considered a safety defect.

The electronic emergency/parking brake has failed/malfunctioned. After searching online, I discovered that other people have the same issue. As I recall, at least one of the posters said that a Ford technician told them that the wiring harness was made too short and the wires rub on the frame and fray causing an electrical short which renders the emergency brake useless. This appears to be a manufacturer's defect, in my opinion.

My brakes began leaking. I noticed this when the pedal sank to the floor during a prolonged deceleration and I had to pump the brakes to successfully stop the car. No warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms appeared prior to the soft brake pedal. I took the vehicle to a local dealer (Priority Ford in Norfolk VA, see invoice for phone and address), who diagnosed it as leaking rear brake lines and replaced two lines. My safety and the safety of others was certainly put at risk. The reason I knew how to recognize and respond to the brake leak was that it has happened to me before -- my 2016 Ford Edge had a front brake line fail earlier, prior to Ford issuing a safety recall for front brake line leaks. Now my rear brake lines have failed... I suspect it warrants a similar safety recall.

Unable to get parts/repair for NHTSA Safety Recall 20V-469 - since May 2021. Even tried calling the Ford Customer Relationship Center and was placed on hold for 30 min and then it disconnected. I would like for the part to be shipped directly to Long Lewis Ford of Hoover, AL in c/o of my name and vehicle, so they will call me when it arrives and I can come in to get replaced. Every time I call they don't have parts, as they only get a few at a time and are already spoken for. I am frustrated to keep calling and taking time to get this safety recall fixed on my own behalf. I would appreciate your help. Thank you.

When driving and try to brake noticed that pedal distance has increased and was hard to stop the car. When stopped to review vehicle, noticed brake fluid on the right side of it. Take it to Ford dealer (CrossRoads Ford of Kernersville) and they confirmed rupture on right brake hose. Correction was to replace both front brake hoses. This failure is exactly the same as the one for safety recall "NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V469000". VIN for my vehicle is not part of recall however same failure happens with same risks, showing that Ford fails on tracking/providing accurate VIN numbers for this safety failure.

Edge 4-cyl

  • 55,000 miles
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal felt soft when depressed, causing the stopping distance to be extended 200 feet. The low brake fluid message appeared on the instrument panel. The contact pumped the brake pedal several times to regain normal function and veered to the side of the road. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The contact stated the failure reoccurred several times while driving. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 20V469000 (Service Brakes, Service Brakes, Hydraulic) however, the dealer informed the contact that the part for the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The contact was still awaiting a call back from the manufacturer. The approximate failure mileage was 55,000. Parts distribution disconnect. After three weeks of not examining the car the dealer decided to put the car on the rack where they discovered the problem being the brake master cylinder and booster. The dealer said our warranty would cover it and they were going to get the parts. There was not a recall on the issue but hearing conversations in the dealership convinced us that the issue should be a recall. We were provided a rental car for 5 days. After we pushed the issue Ford agreed to provide a rental car 60 days because parts are not available. Different stories were told about the part availability until I did research and found tools were available but dealers were not selling or sharing because they have the same issues. There should be buffer on service part tools and the Ford dealers are attempting to contain the situation in house instead of escalating the problem. Currently there are two unresolved issues 1. Recall for brake lines where we were told they had parts and to bring car in. Got to dealer and there were no parts. 2. Dealer inspec

I was told parts for the safety recall would be in at the end of 2020. Were now almost halfway through 2021 and the parts are still unavailable. I did receive a letter from Ford about the safety recall and that parts were in and to call and schedule the maintenance appointment. I scheduled an appointment for this month, June 2021 and now they tell me parts are still not in and not expected till mid July 2021. My husband and I have one car and if something were to happen that would be terrible. Our lives are important and we drive our son around, we don-??t feel safe knowing our brakes could not work properly.
