Door ajar light on from bad door sensor on drivers door. This is our 2nd Edge with the exact same problem. The issues caused by this is the battery drains, lights stay on inside vehicle with no way to turn them off other than by removing fuses and doors will not lock as it thinks the car doors are open.
Door ajar warning stays on even though door is closed. Very annoying and frustrating. Have to close door multiple times to get it to go off. Car has only 36,000 miles on it. Afraid may run battery down because lights won't go off. Tired of having to keep slamming doors to get it stopped. Researched and found other of their models did this and were recalled but for some reason they won't do the Edge.
Driver door ajar light has started coming on regularly even though all doors are shut. Sometimes it happens while driving and I get a "shift to park" warning. I then have to pull over and slam the door shut several times to clear it. It's becoming a hassle and lights stay on so it drains the battery. This is a defect and Ford should issue a recall and fix this issue. It's a safety hazard as far as I'm concerned.
Open driver door. Overhead light comes on. Key in ignition. Chime. Driver door ajar notice comes on. Rear park aid notice comes on. Put in "R" I back up. Shift to park notice comes on (overhead light is on). Start driving. Driver door ajar notice comes on. Overhead light goes out. I drive to a stop light. (doors never lock). I put on breaks to stop. Shift to park notice comes on. Driver door ajar notice comes on. I arrive at destination. Put car in park. Engine is on (overhead light is on). Take key out of ignition (overhead light is on). Open driver door. Note: If I use the fob, overhead lights wont got out. If I manually push door lock button, the inside overhead lights will only go out 3 of 10 tries. I have to unbolt the battery to make them go out. Have already had to buy one battery. I cant lock doors at a stop sign which is unsafe. This is a daily constant occurrence. Others are expressing same issues. This needs to be recalled. The door ajar first happened 10/9/14 at 32,156 miles. Took to Ford dealership. It started happening again in November 2016 and has more issues and now is a safety concern. I also am noting that I have gone out in the middle of the night and my overhead light is on inside the car.

Driver door ajar warning light stays on causing interior light to stay on and alarm to go off if its parked and locked. Closing the door up to 10 times may cause the warning light to go off. If I start driving then the warning message tells me to shift into park and close my door. If I ignore it then it starts beeping at me to get my attention. Pressing the ok button to bypass it does not work more than a few seconds its back. This has been going on for weeks now.
Even though I get in my car and shut the door the door ajar light is coming on (driver door). This causes the light to stay on and I am not able to lock my car doors. I find this to be a large safety issue. It is starting to do this more and more. I currently have to open my door and slam it shut once or multiple times to get the door ajar light to shut off.
Door ajar warning system will not deactivate. Interior lights stay on, very dangerous when backing up at night. Doors will not lock and warning is very distracting notifying driver to shift car into park. This warning occurs in all phases of operation.
Door ajar light stays on even when door is shut. Happens intermittently and unsure if door is shut. Doors will not lock when door ajar light is on. Interior lights also stay on.
Door ajar warning when door is shut, the driver door will not lock presenting one safety hazard. Also the dome light stays on during night time driving causing a road hazard because it impairs the ability to see the road. It also drains the battery and can leave you stranded in a parking lot.
Vehicle has warning light for door ajar even though door is closed. Doors will not lock, and dome lights will not go off. Stop car and close door several times to go off. This has happened while driving, door locks open on their own, warning light dings, etc. And door is closed. This is S known hazard and should be recalled to repair latch before someone is seriously injured.
Driver's side door light stays on even when door is properly latched. The light will go away after opening and closing several times, but the light has also come on while the vehicle is in drive, going down the highway, and it refuses to lock as a result. Malfunction was reported to the dealership, but they didn't fix the car. They believed we'd either need a new door latch or to restart the car's electronic system.
When driver side door is shut, the inside lights stay on and the door ajar warning light stays on. Door does not lock and door chime continues making it unknown if door is truly shut and secured when driving down the road. While driving the door ajar light has come on, cabin light turns on causing dangerous situation at night.
Fuel level drops dramatically, the fuel indicator will drop up to 20 miles per every mile of actual mileage. Gas seems to be leaking and odometers will skip numbers.
Driver's side "door ajar" warning light along with associated alarms ("shift into park") goes off when closing the door. This warning also keeps the interior lights on, thus potentially draining the battery. Backing up in the dark is impossible because the interior lights are so bright, nothing can be seen outside. My temporary solution has been to disconnect the battery when I'm parked for a prolonged period of time. My concerns are; will this be happening to all 6 door sensors, how long will these faulty sensors last, will they find a redesign for this sensor that lasts longer than 34K miles and what if the door really isn't closed? Ford Motor Company has already recalled this sensor/module on other models (Focus, etc) of this year. Because there aren't as many Edges on the road isn't a good reason to not want to make the correction for all models involved.
