When placing vehicle in park, warning indicates transmission is still in drive gear and unable to safely shut down engine. This problem is intermittent and occurs when reverse was last drive gear used. Frequency of the problem is about 1 in 50. Each time it is required to restart vehicle and place transmission into drive then back to park to correct. Due to use of hand brake there has been no instances of the vehicle moving uncontrolled.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. While the vehicle was stationary, the throttle body malfunctioned. The contact depressed the accelerator pedal slightly and the vehicle rapidly lunged forward independently. Due to the failure, the contact struck the dashboard and was injured. Medical attention was not received. Hub city Ford in lafayette, Louisiana was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the manufacturer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 40,000.
Gear case is too close to the catalytic converter and the gear fluid is heating up and blowing out of the breather tube. Gear case holds 12 oz of fluid and no way to tell how much is still left inside. Could damage the transmission. I was told by the Ford dealership that this equipment should never have to be fixed or replaced. It is a Ford design flaw. Ford company will not accept responsibility.
When I go to put my car I park and take my foot off the break the car will roll forward several feet or if I am on a hill it will roll backward several feet. When I am driving on the highway the car will just stop accelerating at 80mph. On several occasions I was trying to get around a truck and the car just stopped accelerating almost causing an accident.
Power transfer case (ptu) on AWD not functioning. Vehicle making excessive road noise, low rumbles as accelerating through 20-25 mph from stop, grinding noises and hesitations when coming to a stop. Mileage around 79000. Age of vehicle will be 5 years old in March 2018. Road noise began about two months ago, but originally attributed to new tire noise. Has increased in volume since. Rumbling noises began last month sporadically. Grinding and hesitations began last week.

While driving we lost all power and the wrench icon with "see manual" appeared on the dash. The wrench icon is a powertrain fault alert. It's obviously dangerous to lose power while driving and be stuck in traffic and with our children in the car it's a little more nerve-racking. Pressing the gas does nothing to the rpms when this happened. The engine was idling rough and sputtering. (plenty of gas in the car). Car has been towed to the dealer. When I started the car for the tow truck, the alert was gone and the car was able to drive. Very strange and the car can't be trusted right now.

The vehicle was taken to C wimberley Ford (56081 M 51 S, dowagiac, mi 49047) where a diagnostic test was not provided. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 62,743.
Leaking ptu. $1800 to repair. Read on internet that's it's a well known problem caused by a design issue. There is no way to drain flush and refill the ptu apparently some companies are drilling and tapping the unit to add a needed plug. Ford was not interested in addressing the problem. My case number with Ford is cas 13398813
2nd time I get the shift to park error. Ford fixed it 1 time already under warranty and now I have the same issue again and it's out of warranty. If you don't resolve the issue before you leave the vehicle, it will kill your battery.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. While driving various speeds, the vehicle decelerated independently and the rpms decreased. The contact mentioned that the vehicle needed to be restarted every time for the vehicle to function correctly. The failure recurred multiple times. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 109,000.
When the problem started about 1 1/2 months ago, I would be driving and the car would simply begin slowing down until it was stopped, no matter how much gas I tried to give it. After this happening 2 times and the check engine light coming on, I took it to the dealership and they said the fuel pump was faulty and changed it. I got the car back approx. 2 weeks ago. Last Friday, 10/6/17, I was on my way home from work and the same thing again, expect this time, the autotrain error (a wrench) came on, as well as the check engine light. It stopped 3 times on the way home - each time I pulled over (as well as I could), turned the car off and recranked it. Each time I would turn the car off and recrank it, the warning lights would go off and then come back on as soon as the car lost power again. I finally got it home. My husband decided to put a new battery in (since I'm also having problems the door open alert - another story). After putting the battery in, he drove it around for 30 minutes or so with no problems. It worked fine all weekend. The following wedn., 10/11/17, I was on my way to work and was in the middle of an intersection when it suddenly lost power again - engine still running, but nothing happening when I pressed the gas and the autotrain & check engine light came on. I almost got hit by another car. I finally was able to pull over, turn it off and let it sit for a minute and then came on to work with no more problems. It's terrifying not knowing when it's going to suddenly lose power. I searched the internet & discovered there are many people reporting this same problem & have been told its a problem with the throttle body. I'm taking it back to Ford this evening. If more than a few people have reported this, this issue needs to be fixed by Ford. Someone is going to get hurt.
Driving along on freeway feeder and electronic throttle body did not work and I could not drive my car. Had to stop and put on emergency blinkers. Had to spend $542.99 to get it fixed as it was not controllable. The car is only 4 years old. This should not happen. Never been involved in accident, flood or etc.
While driving, there is a sudden loss of engine power, the engine light and wrench light indicator come on and the car slows down to a crawl with limited acceleration, more like idle speed. The situation happens 1X-2X per week. After turning the car off and then restarting the car will run normall. This has happens at random times with no other influences like weather. It is extremely unsafe to be in the car when this situation occurs. You are immediately put into unsafe driving conditions with the potential to cause traffic issues. Even more freightenin is you become a target to be in an acccident if others are not paying attention to you sudden loss of speed.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. While shifting into park, a "shift to park" message appeared and a beeping sound was heard. The contact also stated that the interior lighting and instrument panel lighting remained illuminated after exiting the vehicle. The contact would have to re-enter the vehicle, restart the vehicle, and shift the gear shifter several times until the message and interior lighting turned off. The vehicle was not taken to an independent mechanic or dealer for diagnostic testing or repairs. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to NHTSA. The contact researched the failure online and found other owners with the same failure. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.
Transmission is slipping and jerking. Engines revs high when trying to shift. I was driving on a city street when this problem started. I barely made it thru several intersections to a safe location. The car is undrivable and towed to dealer on 8/14/2017. Ford case number 19010926. Csm judy rizzo. No one from Ford will talk to me or return my phone calls.
9/1/17, I was driving home on the freeway. The car lost power but I was able to limp out of traffic. Here is the unsafe thing'.. while coming to a stop the accelerator surged two or three times forcing me to depress the brake to keep it from accelerating further. The engine rpms went from idle (approx. 600rpm) to 3000rpm while my foot was pressing only on the brake and the wrench symbol displayed alongside the speedo. 15 minutes later, it happed again. I lost all ability to accelerate, the wrench displayed, and the check engine light came on. While stopping, the car surged forward and forced me to shift into neutral to control it while pressing the brake. If there was anyone infront of me, I would have surged and rear-ended them causing damage or injury. There is a lot of history on the electronic throttle bodies and their electrical connection problems in the Edge, escape, Explorer, and mustangs. Please get this make model included in a recall.
Ptu leaking and going out. When you drive you get a smell like propane. Inside the car. Make a grinding noise after you stop and then start moving again. This will shut down the vehicle and stop it instantly. Very dangerous. There is a class action law suit on this. Please help many people so we can get thi safety problem fixed so it does hurt more people.
Noise started come from my driver side tire. Started to jeft while moving from idle. Took it to the mechanic and he said it was the power transfer unit. Car only has 81,500 miles on it. When putting the vehicle into park after driving it the vehicle will not acknowledge the car is in park. The vehicle is in fact in park and will not move, but the park indicator light will not light up and the car will not shut off until 20 seconds to several minutes when it finally figures out that it is in park.
