CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2013 Edge has its fair share of problems, but chief among them is an annoying “door ajar” warning light that won’t shut off even when the door is most definitely closed. While the retina-burning, ever-present false reminder on your dashboard is bad, it points to a deeper problem that can drain the battery, leave the doors unlocked while in motion, or render the key fob useless.

My wife was operating her vehicle and nearly had an accident on 6/17/18 being. One by she took it to midis muffler and brake to investigate the problem. They performed a check and advised it was the brake booster and there was a recall, extended warranty through the Ford, we immediately contacted apple Ford in lynchburg va, they didn't express and concern and we're hesitant to do anything because we didn't buy the vehicle thru their dealership, after going back and forth and getting no where we hung up. We then contacted berglund bedford, va we bought the vehicle there and they also serviced it for 5 years, we again. Got extremely poor customer service, th they wanted to charge us to diagnose the problem, which was done for free at the other shop, they expressed no concern, gave us a service date one and a half weeks out. We spoke with the manager name brian whom also didn't care and said we drive it at our risk. A main issue all the years they services it the problem was known and they did nothing, we even had the brakes checked and serviced in Oct 2017. They chose to let an extremely dangerous situation occur.

I have a 2013 Ford Edge, brakes go to floor but not all the time. 1 St time I had booster done under recall Dec 2016 mileage 59080, 2 nd Oct 2017 brakes did it again mileage 66982, put another booster in under recall. Dec 2017 mileage 68078 happen again, this time the dealer check out the hold brake system (the slide, calibers etc.) everything ok. June 2018 happen again mileage 71926. I did have an auto repairman try and it went to the floor on him as well. I spoke with Ford about it Ford gave me a case # cas- 15014600 said I needed a dealer to check it again. I went to prime Ford in auburn MA (the same as the other 3 times), they checked it and could not find and thing wrong, they asked me to leave it for a couple of days which I did and they still could not find a problem. I know it is not the master brake cylinder because when they changed the booster they would have notice leakage. Prime has gone over the whole brake system made sure everything works ok. My problem is you don't know when this will happen, I looked on car problem site and saw where the Ford Edge has had over 300 brake problems and some of the those had the same problem. But what happens now if you need to stop real quick and it happens? car was moving around 30 - 35M/H when you go to stop.

My vehicle has the exact same problem with extended warranty for Ford bulletin 13N02 and Ford wont cover cost of repair. Bulletin states year 2013 and vehicles built at Oakville plant in Canada. I feel my safety repair should be covered, yet I had to pay $480 out of pocket. Ford has not been able to tell me why it not being covered

The power brake booster has failed at 69000 miles. This failure is consistent with failures Ford has fixed on the Ford Edge manufactured prior to March 28, 2013. My car was manufactured in may of 2013. I do not feel that Ford resolved the issue with the brake booster failure. This creates a dangerous driving condition with the large amount of pressure required to stop the car. In several cases, I was unable to stop the care safely. Ford issued a service notification for the vehicles manufactures prior to March 28, 2013, - 13N02. I feel that the issue was not addressed and continues past that date.

When coming to a stop light my breaks became spongy and hissing when pressed and is hard to push down as if I had no breaks at all and air was coming out of them. I was not prepared for this. I had my kids in the car but luckily I was going the speed limit and was away from any other cars. My kids were in the car with me so it added a little anxiety for me. This happens now all the time. I called the Ford dealership they said it sounded like the break booster they asked for my VIN since the 2013's have been recalled. He checked it and said yes yours was recalled so we made the appointment. I dropped it off then an hour later they called me back and said I am sorry but they have not recalled the Ford Edge with my VIN as of yet just the vins before mine and I would have to pay to have it fixed and to come pick it up which I did since that didn't seem ok to me? how does that happen its the same problem. This is unsafe and definitely a big problem the Ford dealerships are seeing. The Ford manufacture knows of this issue so I am not sure why they are not taking ownership and fixing all the cars.

While putting on the brakes and turning, the brake pedal went all the way down and stayed like this for quite some time. It still brakes but it pulls to the right when done so. It is very annoying, but it is a safety hazard. I heard there was a recall on this action but when I took it to the dealer they said it was not covered. This is definitely a factory defect and I would hate to get in a court action with Ford if anything happens. This mystery happened twice so far.

When I go to put my car I park and take my foot off the break the car will roll forward several feet or if I am on a hill it will roll backward several feet. When I am driving on the highway the car will just stop accelerating at 80mph. On several occasions I was trying to get around a truck and the car just stopped accelerating almost causing an accident.

Difficult to stop. Pressing on the brake pedal I hear a hissing noise like an air leak and a high pitched sound. After coming to a stop the vehicle still wants to move forward. Must press on the brake pedal real hard to get it to stop. Have come close to being in an accident and currently unable to drive the vehicle. Had mechanic check vehicle and they explained the brake booster is not working and should be replaced.
