CarComplaints.com Notes: Say what you will about the styling of the Ford Edge, but the bottom line is owners seem to love this vehicle. That is, of course, except in the case of it's dangerous, worrisome and unexplained issues with random engine stalling.

Our data suggests an early defect trend, as owners of the 2007-2008 models have started posting their accounts of what happens when you're driving down the road and the engine just stops. Some at high speed, some at low speed but always a random shutdown of the engine, electrical and power steering.

Time will tell if this becomes a widespread issue, but there's no drying the seriousness of the problem. With that in mind, we're flagging the Edge with our "Beware of the Clunker" rating until the situation improves.

TAKATA RECALL - RECEIVED FIRST NOTICE JULY 2016- STILL WAITING. I AM IN ZONE B BUT 5 MINUTES AWAY FROM SOUTH CAROLINA. THIA AREA 28722 NC SHOULD BE SAME AS ZONE A, SAME HUMIDITY, AND TEMPERATURES. IT IS LIKE PLAYING RUSSIAN ROULETTE EVERY TIME I HAVE TO DRIVE. I HAVE UNDER 50,000 MILES ON THIS VEHICLE. ACCORDING TO TRIAL TRANSCRIPTS FORD KNEW OF THE DANGER IN 2005, WHY WERE EVER ALLOWED TO PUT THESE VEHICLES ON THE MARKET? SHAREHOLDERS THAT IS THE REASON AND THE VEHICLE OWNERS BE [XXX]. I MISSED THE WINDOW OF "LEMON LAW" BECAUSE THEY SHOULD HAVE NOTIFIED ME YEARS SOONER THAN 2016! INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Takata inflators. Why does this problem continue to exist? Ford has went so far as to tell my family not to ride in the front seat of this car. This problem has went on for over two years and I must use this car for our family car. We travel extensively and need to use this car. I have a 2005 Dodge pick-up that had the same problem and the problem was corrected in a timely fascion. I find it hard to believe the nhsta would allow Ford to get away with this problem for so long seeing as to the seriousness of this problem. Please reassure me and my family that we will be safe in this car while waiting for repairs. Latest recall notice I received from Ford stated the air bags may be here by the second or third quarted of this year, however this is not the firest time we have been told they were coming. I feel Ford is stalling all the owners of their product. Would U please research this situation and advise us.

The mechanic at Ford told me about. He said that Ford was sending emails to all the mechanic to watch for this problem an yet no recall. How many must die before our government acts for the people by the people. Not for big business an [xxx] on everyone else. Sorry for my strong words but this is [xxx]. an in my own words. Thank you. Takata recall. This is a 2008 vehicle its 10 years old.....this recall has been years and there is no remedy. I drive my 81 year old mother around and am fearful for her safey. Sitting in the back seat is not a solution. I want it resolved immediately, I have waited long enough. Ford should fix it or replace my vehicle with a safe one.

Takata inflators ** - 2 years and no replacement air bags for my vehicle. It has been recommended to not have anyone sit in the passenger seat. This now makes my vehicle a 4 passenger car (if you swish 3 people in the back seat). New airbags were to be available in spring 2018. Now I receive another notice that the air bag replacement will probably be another 3 to 6 months. I am extremely upset with how this situation has been handled and looks like it is now time to get legal assistance. I have been more than patient.

Had a recall and they have yet to repair defective part after a year and a half. This is absolutely unacceptable. If they can build new cars with these airbags then the fact they cannot fix this is apparently on purpose. I feel a class action suit is the only remedy available to consumers.

Had recall back in 2016 but still have not been contacted about replacement. When I contact dealership they always say they dont know when they will receive airbags and to wait for letter from manufacture or Ford. Its very frustrating since I am not comfortable with letting anyone sit in front seat due to this recall.
