CarComplaints.com Notes: Say what you will about the styling of the Ford Edge, but the bottom line is owners seem to love this vehicle. That is, of course, except in the case of it's dangerous, worrisome and unexplained issues with random engine stalling.

Our data suggests an early defect trend, as owners of the 2007-2008 models have started posting their accounts of what happens when you're driving down the road and the engine just stops. Some at high speed, some at low speed but always a random shutdown of the engine, electrical and power steering.

Time will tell if this becomes a widespread issue, but there's no drying the seriousness of the problem. With that in mind, we're flagging the Edge with our "Beware of the Clunker" rating until the situation improves.

Takata recall - in July 2016 I was mailed a recall letter # 16S384 that my passenger side airbag was defective. I was informed this would be fixed no later the the end of Sept. 2018. This recall has not been completed. My local Ford dealer continues to tell me there nothing they can do as replacement parts are not available. Is there any thing that ntsb can do to get this completed?

Takata recall. I was notified of this recall in July 2016. I contacted my local Ford dealer and was told this repair could not be done for a while. I have been checking back with them to no avail. In June of 2018, I received a letter that the repair would be in Sept of 2018. I checked with the dealer in Sept. And was told that they still did not have the parts, but it would be any day now. I check again in Oct. An was told that Ford made an error in shipping out the parts to the dealers and now they do not know when the repair will be done. They told me they have no way to contact Ford and get any answers. In the meantime, this is our only auto and we cannot afford a rental. This is dangerous and it needs to be completed now> it appears that the local dealer does not have control of this matter. It is Ford that is not completing the repair. It is now time for the gov. To get involved in this and resolve this recall before someone is seriously hurt or worse. Please!!

Takata inflators I have been attempting to have this issue resolved for many months, even having appointments with my service department canceled. The reason for this I'm told is that the parts are not available. I am extremely concerned due to the fact that your website and Ford website has sent letters stating that the recall was urgent and should be addressed immediately.

I was sold a car from a car dealership in 2016 that had an airbag recall. My truck was purchased in 2016 and the takata airbag recall has been out since around 2014. I do not understand how this could happen with people dying from this defected airbag and severely injured. I also had a wreck in this vehicle in 2017 and I am grateful the airbag did not come because I am a mother of two children. I've sent my car to Ford on several occasions for maintenance and no one told me about the recall. It wasn't until June 2018, I was informed. The letter stated it was the second notice but it was actual my first letter.I was offered a rental vehicle, that I am currently in now. They are asking for me to return the vehicle but my husband has it in another state. He is co-owner of the vehicle. He didn't want me to drive it and neither is he. It is not safe to drive with my small children. I am asking for an extension on the rental or some type of reimbursement for my safety and troubles. Ive spent over 5,000 dollars in repairs on a car that had a airbag recall way before it was purchased.

Takata recall - I have received several letters about this recall yet there still are not any parts available. Most recently was a letter from the nys dmv warning of the danger of driving my vehicle without the airbag repaired and that I could get a rental vehicle until parts are available and my vehicle is repaired. I called my local dealer today and was told that the parts still are not available, they should be by end of September, and to call back then. When I asked about a rental vehicle as instructed in letters from both Ford and the nys dmv, I was told that rental vehicles are also not available. When checking for more info, there is indication that my vehicle is still driveable. Is it really safe to drive or not" why am I told to get this "potentially lifesaving repair" and parts are available if they are not? if it is a "potentially lifesaving repair" then should I really be driving my car"

Takata recall first notified on in Oct.2017. Called dealer who said no parts available and he would call me. I have communicated with dealership directly and still no calls. Received second letter in June 2018. Called dealer, still no parts. NHTSA and takata indicated on website fordowner.com, that highest risk vehicles include older vehicles in areas with high heat and humidity, I live in Georgia where most of the summer can be described in this way. It is 9/14 and the temp is 92 with high humidity. My car is old: 2008. Ford customer relations center gave me a case #15376127-D7D7K9 and told me not to let anyone sit in the passenger seat. Very inconvenient to have to ask friends and relatives to sit in the back seat! online reports tell me supplies are being restored. Why is Ford not taking care of its customers. Why is there not a lawsuit to hasten these recalls" how can the NHTSA help me and others with this recall" I am not uploading letters, for I am sure that you are very familiar with them.

Takata recall I have received several letters about the takata recall from Ford and from the department of motor vehicles. Unfortunately, Ford does not have my airbag available. Therefore, I am at risk when I drive the vehicle. I need to receive assistance with Ford having the airbag available so I and/or passengers in my vehicle are not at risk of injury or death in case the airbag deploys..
