CarComplaints.com Notes: Say what you will about the styling of the Ford Edge, but the bottom line is owners seem to love this vehicle. That is, of course, except in the case of it's dangerous, worrisome and unexplained issues with random engine stalling.
Our data suggests an early defect trend, as owners of the 2007-2008 models have started posting their accounts of what happens when you're driving down the road and the engine just stops. Some at high speed, some at low speed but always a random shutdown of the engine, electrical and power steering.
Time will tell if this becomes a widespread issue, but there's no drying the seriousness of the problem. With that in mind, we're flagging the Edge with our "Beware of the Clunker" rating until the situation improves.

After over 2 years I haven been able to get my airbag replaced even thought it was to be replaced by the end of September 2018. The dealer ship I'm working with continues to help me. Ford co. Sent me a letter telling me I was entitled to a free rental until my car has been replaced. The refuse to help me with this also saying this process takes several weeks to get me into a rental. It has now been 2 weeks since I requested a rental and they continue to give the runaround hoping I will give up. Can the ntsb help me?

Takata recall. This recall was issued 2 years ago and I was told the parts we not available. It has not been fixed yet. I am concerned about my safety as well as my family as passengers.
Takata recall--I was sent a recall notice #16V-384 in July of 2016. The vehicle is not to have any passengers in the front passenger seat because of metal fragments which can cause serious injury. I have called many times about the fix and have been told the next quarter they will have the repairs. That quarter goes and it will be in the next quarter. It has now went almost 2.5 years. It makes the vehicle not very useful when you can't use the front passenger seat. Ford needs to get this resolved. I have been very patient.

Takata recall- I have been notified of the recall and every Ford dealer I have called has said they don't have the parts and they have no idea when they will be available. This is absolutely unacceptable. New York state dmv sent a notice that this is an urgent recall and if the air bag randomly deploys it can cause serious harm to anyone in the car. How can I repair my car if parts are not available, this is outrageous. I would very much like to have the repairs done so I will have peace of mind and feel safe driving my car.
Takata recall - I still can't get my airbag repaired. I need help because I think that they are ignoring my complaints. Please let me know what I can do, I do not want to get hurt in my car!
