CarComplaints.com Notes: Say what you will about the styling of the Ford Edge, but the bottom line is owners seem to love this vehicle. That is, of course, except in the case of it's dangerous, worrisome and unexplained issues with random engine stalling.

Our data suggests an early defect trend, as owners of the 2007-2008 models have started posting their accounts of what happens when you're driving down the road and the engine just stops. Some at high speed, some at low speed but always a random shutdown of the engine, electrical and power steering.

Time will tell if this becomes a widespread issue, but there's no drying the seriousness of the problem. With that in mind, we're flagging the Edge with our "Beware of the Clunker" rating until the situation improves.

Received a letter from Ford concerning airbag recall 17V-024 advising me that a repair is available for my vehicle. I went to my dealer in mendham, NJ and they say the part is not available. This has been over 2 years since the recall was announced. Obviously Ford does not take your recalls or our safety into account.

"takata recall" nothing yet I am forced to drive a car I purchased in April with this recall and still havent got a letter for repair so im paying $250 on a car that I cant have anyone in the car with me for the fear they might be injured or even killed by the air bag thats defected I cant drive kids to and from school due to this issue I pay to have them driven to school by neighbors or they do not go to the extra activities because I cant drive them this Ford Edge has so many problems that I was unaware of so im pay for a car that cost me money to repair every time I turn around the tranny jerks and I hit my fence and another car already the brakes are making a sqeeling and they ABS light has not come on. The front end vibrates when I turn left and right I already repaired the rear shocks cause they leaked everywhere it is now making a ticking sound when its driving it has no power what so ever as if tranny is having trouble shifting im at my witts end I cant afford to fix all the problems and still make my payments and pay to drive mt kids around because the dangerous air bag it only has 155000 miles I maintain it to Ford manual and still its the worse car I have ever owed and has cost me more in the short time I have had it with 148000 miles in April then all the cars ive had and maintained I would like some compensation for this air bag and fix asap when does it get fixed when someone gets hurt or dies. It all started about 2 weeks after I bought it end of April beganing of May.

Takata recall - received first letters from Ford in July 2016 and have been proactive about asking dealership to fix our car several attempts with each letter. First Ford in fall river, MA has not honored the recall and will not provide a rental vehicle. They say they have not received parts even though our letters from Ford say that parts are available. We have to take two cars anywhere we go as a family because we can't use the front seat costing us time and gas. Our vehicle is high risk for explosion because we lived in fl and ga while owning the vehicle. We're very concerned for the lives of our children 1 and 6 but we can't afford to replace the car out of pocket. We don't want to become collateral damage in Ford corporate damage mitigation calculation. Thanks [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).'

Takata recall I still have not been able to get the inflators replaced. I was first notified March 2017. I have called bowen scarff (kent, wa) twice without any remedy - telling me that parts are not available. I have called on November 14, 2017 and again on November 6, 2018. I have been driving this vehicle for nearly 2 years with a faulty airbag - that can injure me or my family. What does it take to have this resolved" why am I not offered a rental car in the interim???" this is my vehicle that I drive.

I have had a recall on the takata airbags for approximately 1 year and Ford is unable to fix due to unavailable replacement parts. We have tried several Ford service centers in NY and pa. I received a letter from dmv which states that the situation could "kill or seriously injure you and your passengers...". I am shocked that Ford isn't doing more to remedy this situation as soon as possible.
