CarComplaints.com Notes: Say what you will about the styling of the Ford Edge, but the bottom line is owners seem to love this vehicle. That is, of course, except in the case of it's dangerous, worrisome and unexplained issues with random engine stalling.

Our data suggests an early defect trend, as owners of the 2007-2008 models have started posting their accounts of what happens when you're driving down the road and the engine just stops. Some at high speed, some at low speed but always a random shutdown of the engine, electrical and power steering.

Time will tell if this becomes a widespread issue, but there's no drying the seriousness of the problem. With that in mind, we're flagging the Edge with our "Beware of the Clunker" rating until the situation improves.

Takata recall - this recall has been out for over a year (June 1, 2016) and Ford still does not have a solution to this recall. This recall was also not disclosed to us when we purchased the vehicle last July, and Ford still does not have a timeline of when they expect to have a solution for this problem.

Once we learned of the recall for the airbags we contacted the dealer immediately. We were told that they would replace them in 6 months. That was over a year ago and nothing has happened. We've asked numerous times (anderson Ford) in kingman AZ and were told they would call us. It's been years. Now what? as a result at this time the passenger airbag is turned off and my passengers have no protection.

Takata recall. I filed a request with bill currie Ford for replacement of my takata airbags over a year ago. They still are saying they do not have parts in stock for the passenger side. They sold me this vehicle in 2014 knowing that this was a problem and did not reveal the problem at the time. For over a year they have failed to respond to replacing my airbags even though I have requested it 3 times. They are finally replacing the driver's side airbag next week but are saying they still do not have parts for the passenger side.

Takata recall we received notification of a takata passenger side front airbag recall from the Ford Motor Company in July of 2016. We were told by our local dealer that no airbags were available. We have checked multiple times in the time since then and have been told repeatedly that no airbags are available. Last year we were told the airbags were expected in the final quarter of 2016. We have been informed that the airbags are still not available as of 10/2017. A call to the Ford Motor Company in 11/2016 was answered with just drive your vehicle and we will let you know when airbags are available. We really wish to have this airbag replaced before someone gets injured. Waiting over a year to have this replaced seems like an unreasonable length of time to wait for this repair.

My car has a takata airbag which is known to severely harm or kill the occupant of the vehicle if the vehicle should be involved in an accident where the airbag is deployed. It has been 15 months since the initial notice was sent and no remedy has been made available to me. I would like a remedy asap.

Takata recall. Notified of recall on July 2016. Still not repaired and no date for repairs. Ford refuses to give a rental car. Yet it has been 15 months since being notified. I have spoken with local dealerships and a Ford representative named ann at 800-392-3673 with no results. I need to be able to use my front passenger seat. I live in a southern state with high humidity and my car is older(2008). What can I do to expedite the replacement of the airbag or have Ford supply me with a rental car.
