CarComplaints.com Notes: Say what you will about the styling of the Ford Edge, but the bottom line is owners seem to love this vehicle. That is, of course, except in the case of it's dangerous, worrisome and unexplained issues with random engine stalling.

Our data suggests an early defect trend, as owners of the 2007-2008 models have started posting their accounts of what happens when you're driving down the road and the engine just stops. Some at high speed, some at low speed but always a random shutdown of the engine, electrical and power steering.

Time will tell if this becomes a widespread issue, but there's no drying the seriousness of the problem. With that in mind, we're flagging the Edge with our "Beware of the Clunker" rating until the situation improves.

I got a notice by mail that my passenger airbag may rupture if used. There is a recall. It has been over a year and no Ford dealership will fix it, telling me that they don't have the parts. I have spoken to several dealership managers, and even called Ford headquarters and they created a case number because I was telling them that this is not right to make me wait so long to drive a safe car and that they were putting my family at risk due to their negligence.

Takata recall safety recall notice 16S26/NHTSA recall 16V-384 I have contacted el cajon Ford, (where I purchased a new Ford Edge in 2008), several times since July, 2016, to have the unsafe airbags replaced. Those contacts were a result of an important safety recall letter from the Ford Motor Company, received in July 2016. Each time, I was told there were no airbags available yet. As of today, 11/7/17, the dealer's service representative again stated that Ford still has not identified a substitute for the defective takata airbags, nor has Ford made any airbags available to the dealership for the takata replacement. I am very concerned about the safety of front seat passengers in my 2008 Ford Edge. Also, it is my understanding that I cannot sell my vehicle until the recalled airbags are replaced. This has created a financial hardship for me, as I have been unable to replace the Edge with a more mileage-efficient vehicle..

Takata recall: I have called our local Ford dealer 3 times over the last year. Each time they note that they do not have the parts for the recall, and do not know when they will have them. So far, thankfully, I have not been involved in an accident that would result in airbag deployment, but am very fearful should that happen. The fact that Ford can get away with this is concerning. Thank you for any help you can provide.

Re: recall from June 2016 (recall # 16S26). I still have not been notified as to a remedy for this recall. I received a notice over a year ago, but it was simply a "heads up" indicating that there was an issue with the airbags and it said I would be notified by mail when a solution was available. I am concerned that it has been over a year and my car has still not been serviced for this recall due to "no remedy available" yet.

"takata recall" - on 09/27/2017 we took our 2008 Ford Edge in for the airbag repair at fairfield Ford & Lincoln (ca) and were told there were no parts available to make the necessary repair. Recall notice 16S26/NHTSA recall 16V-384 was issued in July 2016 and 15 months later there is still no remedy for an airbag issue. According to the notice of bankruptcy from tk holdings, we should take our car in for repairs, however, we are unable to due to Ford's lack of suitable replacement.

Takata recall - received recall notification from Ford in July 2016 stating "when parts are available, Ford will send a letter to inform you that parts are available and to...schedule a repair." It is now Nov 2017 and no notification has ever been received back from Ford. According to the takata airbag recall website, a repair remedy for our VIN is still not available...meaning we are still "at risk" and have been for almost a year and a half after receiving the recall notification. How can this be allowed to be acceptable"??"

Takata recall notice was sent to me on July 2016 by the Ford Motor Company. This "important safety recall" states that my inflator is likely defective and needs to be replaced. It has now been well over 1yr and Ford has still not contacted me again to initiate repair. My local dealer states they will send out notice once a "solution" is found. I am uncertain what solution is needed besides a new inflator. It feels as if I am driving around a potentially dangerous vehicle due to inaction.
