CarComplaints.com Notes: Say what you will about the styling of the Ford Edge, but the bottom line is owners seem to love this vehicle. That is, of course, except in the case of it's dangerous, worrisome and unexplained issues with random engine stalling.
Our data suggests an early defect trend, as owners of the 2007-2008 models have started posting their accounts of what happens when you're driving down the road and the engine just stops. Some at high speed, some at low speed but always a random shutdown of the engine, electrical and power steering.
Time will tell if this becomes a widespread issue, but there's no drying the seriousness of the problem. With that in mind, we're flagging the Edge with our "Beware of the Clunker" rating until the situation improves.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2008 Ford Edge. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 17V024000 (air bags); however, the parts to do the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. Crest Ford in flat rock, mi was contacted and confirmed that the parts were not available for the recall remedy. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and was not able to confirm when the parts were to become available. The contact recently received a postcard from tk holdings, alerting her that they filed for bankruptcy. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
Takata recall - as of today the dealership has been unable to replace the defective airbags due to the failure of the manufacturer to provide the replacement part. I am fearful of an unintended inflation or failure to deflate in the instance of a crash.

I call bob thomas Ford and they have no airbags for this vehicle and told me just to wait until Ford decides what to do. The company takata has gone bankrupt, so now what do I do. What is Ford going to do?
Takata recall. Dealership has not taken action to address this recall and my airbags have not yet been replaced although it has been over a year since I was notified of the recall.
Takata recall - I continue to get the run around from my local Ford dealership about what steps Ford is taking to address this recall. Despite notice of the recall in July 2016, Ford claims it has no idea when any remedy or replacement parts will be available despite the documented risk to health and safety this problem poses. Nor can Ford offer any alternative solutions. If the recall of these dangerous parts cannot be completed Ford should be required to compensate owners and find a way to provide them with safe vehicles. The lack of a fix to this problem 1.5 years (or more) after it being publicly announced is not acceptable.
Tk holdings is asking to contact dealerships to replace the airbags yet when I called them the dealership stated that there is no parts for the replacement
I was notified by Ford in July of 2016 that there is an existing recall of the defective passenger frontal airbag inflator in my vehicle. I immediately notified my local Ford dealership, peacock Ford (formerly known as don reid Ford), where the car was purchased to schedule the repair and was informed that the parts were not available. Since that time, I have made repeated phone calls to the same Ford dealership to remedy the life-threatening situation that I have been faced with on a daily basis as I drive my vehicle.
Takata recall it has been close to 18 months since this recall has been issued. I have been in contact with my local Ford dealer several times and they have stated they don't have the replacements in stock yet. I think this is unacceptable since this airbag can cause serious injury.
Takata recall. We would like a rental until the replacement bag is ready like Honda is doing for their customers so that we won't have to worry about the airbag. Thank you for helping us.
Takata recall. There has been a recall for the airbag on this vehicle for years and Ford has not come up with a replacement for it. It could cause injury if it goes off and could result in death. This needs to be rectified now!
As a result of the recall & chpt. 11 filing, (tk holdings Inc.) I called local vehicle dealership for replacement of defective airbag. I was told there was not a replacement available. They had no other information on subject. They suggested I follow though with instructions on chapter 11 notice. I expect a from tk holdings a free replacement of defective equipment.
Takata recall I purchased this SUV from North star Ford in duluth, mn. I have received several air bag recall notices from Ford & stopped in 5-6 times in 2 years. First I was told there were no parts for the fix, now I am told the part manufacturer has filed for bankruptcy & in all likelihood, there will never be a repair. But Ford is not declaring bankruptcy and I believe it is a Ford manufacturer and dealership issue. We should be paid for the risk and for the3 diminished re-sale value due to the known defect.
