This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
Second row passenger side bench seat no longer latches to the vehicle. Mechanism is now jammed and will not function. Vehicle seat is free floating and will not latch to the vehicle. Occurred during normal use, as third row passengers were exiting from the vehicle.
The front passenger head rest suddenly and violently popped open while in motion on a straight, smooth, city street without any outside force being applied to it. If anyone had been sitting there, it would have jolted the person's head forward. I worry that this will also happen to the driver's side at some point. This is a safety issue.
Driving on a 45mph city road. I was a passenger, husband was driving and I heard a loud noise and felt something hit me in back of head. Thought we were hit by another car but we were not, we were still driving at same speed. My headrest had ejected for no reason and hit me on back of head and neck.
While driving down the interstate at 70mph the front passenger side head rest "deployed" without warning, striking and injuring my wife who required medical treatment to resolve the injury. Inspection of the head rest revealed that the plastic that holds the metal retaining pin for the active head rest system had failed, resulting in the rapid forward movement of the head rest causing injury. Dodge/fca so far is refusing to cover the obvious materials failure and poor design under warranty.

The passenger headrest active head restraint safety device deployed without warning during normal driving. There was no impact, etc., that would cause the device to deploy. The device errantly deployed. Had a passenger been in the vehicle this could have resulted in serious injury. The vehicle was in motion on a city street. Through online research I noted that this seems to be a common issue.
As I was driving to my son's football game, my headrest deployed and violently hit me in the back of the head. I hadn't hit anything or a pothole. I lost control of the car momentarily, but thankfully was not around other vehicles and was only going about 30 mph. It sounded like my airbag had deployed, but after looking around to find what happened, I noticed my passenger side headrest was out and so I felt behind my head and sure enough it had deployed as well. I ended up going to the er because of a head injury as I was disoriented and dizzy and had light sensitivity. I have been diagnosed with whiplash and have had headaches everyday since the accident. I am also seeing a chiropractor because my back is all messed up as well.
Upon washing my car, the passenger side front seat active headreast activated while sitting in the driveway. No one was in the seat and the car wasnt in motion. There also wasn't any rear impact. Took the car to the dealer been getting the run around if its covered under warranty.
The front passanger side headrest completely became undone with such force that it pushed the back of my head forward while we were driving to our destination. Felt like some one punched me in the back of my head with such force that if I was the person driving, it could have caused an major accident. We were on a major highway (turnpike) going about 70 mph and I'm glad that it was not the driver's side.it startled me and my wife as well it completely unexpected.now the question is that if this happened on the passenger side, its just a matter of time that it can happen on the drivers side"?" this headreast looks like its sprinloaded and the pin that holds this headrest together failed. The unit is broken and the plastic housing inside the headrest that holds the pin is broken as well. Please this needs to be looked at as it is an accident waiting to happen because it just can happen at any time and it would be unfortunate for anyone to get hurt if they are driving during the day or especially at night time.
While stopped with the vehicle in park after just coming off of the interstate at a truck stop, the passenger side active headrest popped. No damage had occurred to the vehicle, no large bumps or curbs were hit. Luckily we were stopped and no injury occurred. Unfortunately this is a huge expense to fix at a dealership (over $700 just for the part plus shop hours making it about a $1000 expense not covered by warranty!) this is a huge safety concern - 1. if we are now in a collision prior to repair will our airbags deploy as this is part of the whole system (and the one is already sprung so could damage occur because of that) 2. if we had been driving and it were to deploy and hit someone it the back of the head it could easily cause an accident causing injury or even death to occupants and to occupants of other vehicles! this could be extremely dangerous!
The active restraint headrest on passenger side front seat deployed while sitting over night in the driveway. Vehicle has 104,000 miles and there hasn't been any rear end impacts. It appears that the part that holds the pin has broken allowing the headrest to deploy and the pin is still in the latch it's self. There in not any current recall on this but if it happens while someone is setting in the seat it could cause a head or neck injury or if it is the driver cause an accident.
While driving at approx. 40 miles per hour, the drivers side head rest exploded causing my head to move slam forward. I though someone had hit me from behind but looked and there was no one there. Pulled over to the side of the road to find the head rest apart. I contacted a local dealer and they asked if I ran into a curb, hit a large bump or was involved in an accident and was sorry to hear that happened. After research on the internet, there are several reports of these headrest exploding randomly on several Dodge models specifically the Durango. My vehicle is a 2014 with 29K miles on it, never in an accident and barely driven.
Without warning, the passenger side front seat active head rest deployed without cause or crash. The vehicle was not moving, we were just getting inside. The passenger side head rest tethered to the seat suddenly and unexpectedly deployed causing damage to the head rest. No visible damage is apparent to the vehicle itself (crash), and no visible codes or warning lights (I.e. airbag light) are displayed. The vehicle has never been in an accident.
Without warning my passenger side headrest popped open. Don't know exactly when it happened as most of the time there is no one in the passenger seat. Not involved in any accidents. Headset just popped open and is stuck.
The touch screen works part of the time and other times not. Also air works sometimes and not other times, sometimes half the car is cold while at the same temp the other half of the car is hot air from the vent. Also the seat set up does not keep settings.
Vehicle parked overnight. Upon entering the drivers headrest was noted to be exploded open as the plastic mounts holding the pin keeping the active restraint closed had disintegrated. If car had been underway this might have been lethal..
I was driving 40-50 mph on hwy 146 near kemah, tx. Suddenly and without warning the driver seat headrest rose up several inches and the front of the headrest shot out and hit me in the back of the head.
While my wife was driving down the highway the active head rest pop out, hitting her in the back of the head. She was startled, she then pulled off to the side of the road to see what had happened
While my vehicle was parked in my garage the passenger side head rest deployed without impact or warning. Failure milage was 46400. Had local Chrysler Dodge inspect failure and was told that head rest needed to be replaced at a cost of $709.49 in order to have the air bag light reset.10/
