This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
Passenger side sliding door makes buzzing noise when unlocking. Stationary or moving does not matter. Makes noise when pressing unlock on door panel, key fob, or when pulling on any door handle to open door that unlocks all doors.
Sliding door actuators fail often on Town & Country vans. My family has owned three different model years in the past 10 years, and each one has had the sliding door actuators replaced. When they fail, they are either stuck to the open or closed position, so if open you cannot manually lock your car door, and if closed (locked) you cannot unlock it or open the door. This could be a safety concern if an accident occurred and the only door to get out was stuck in the locked position.
The car is 4 years old and the driver side sliding door is stuck in the locked position and will not unlock and cannot be opened. In the event of an accident or fire no one will be able to get out of the car on the drivers side of the vehicle
Door actuators are defective and make buzzing noises. As actuators continue to fail, we fear operation of doors could also fail posing a serious safety problem! many people are reporting the same problem. Very expensive to fix. This is an electrical engineering defect. It should be resolved with new, non-defective actuators by Chrysler. For now, our Town & Country is stationary with engine on or off when buzzing sounds, but others have reported this problem when their Chrysler is in motion. If the doors were to open while traveling, it could be a disaster, and if the doors fail to open when needed, it could be deadly!

The auto door locks on the rear sliding doors jammed and stopped working. After manually unlocking the doors, they now both work, but the lock actuators on both sliding doors make a loud buzzing sound. The passenger side rear door does it when it unlocks, and the driver side rear door does it when it locks.
When doors lock there is a loud buzzing type sound coming from the back door.I doesn't matter if the vehicle is moving and the doors auto lock, or if parked and the doors are manually locked. Couldn't attach a sound video.
The contact called on behalf of her mother who owns a 2016 Chrysler Town and country. The contact stated that the rear passenger's side door slid open without warning. The contact stated that the auto lock feature on driver and passenger side of the vehicle was inoperable. Additionally, the driver's side sliding door was also inoperable. Larry H. miller Dodge Ram of peoria located at (8665 w bell rd, peoria, AZ 85382, (480)865-3986, informed the contact that the vehicle should be diagnosed as to the cause of the failure. The contact stated that the dealer had previously diagnosed the vehicle and stated that there was no defect with the vehicle prior to the warranty expiring. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 58,000.
Sliding doors started buzzing, days later the door was in the locked position and would not open with my children inside after I had returned from the store. I had to role the window down to get them out. What if that happened during an emergency? faulty door actuators are a safety hazard. The correct action should be taken to fix this problem before something preventable happens.
Rear drivers side and passengers side doors intermittently remain locked and will not open or unlock causing concern for the safety of the passengers inside. Also intermittently remains unlocked which could be another safety and security issue. Engine also stutters at low speeds. I have already had this repaired by a local dealership only to have the same problem a few weeks later.
The contact owns a 2016 Chrysler Town and country. While driving 30 mph, the vehicle seized. There was no warning indicator illuminated. In addition, all the doors locked on their own. The contact was able to restart the ignition and drive to his destination. The vehicle was taken to lakeland Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (located at 2875 mall hill dr, lakeland, fl 33810, (863) 687-2501), but they were unable to duplicate the failures. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact associated the failures with NHTSA campaign number: 16V461000 (power train). The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 80,000.
Airbag light would light up on and off and then all of sudden stayed on suddenly. Took the van to the dealership and now saying the passenger side airbag wiring harness is bad and needs replaced. But before the solid light when I moved the drivers side seat the light would go off or come on. How can airbag harness go bad.
Right side doors make buzzing noise upon opening. The vehicle is stationary when the doors are being opened. This started without any reason that I could determine.
Vehicle's tipm module failed, causing the vehicle to stall to a stop on a busy street. Hazard lights did not work. Transmission shifter locked itself in park. All cluster instrument warning lights were on. Uconnect sound system off. Power windows and locks disabled. Sliding doors locked and disabled. Engine remained running with key out of ignition. The vehicle's complete tipm failure, which also controls the hazard warning lights (which should be on an isolated circuit), contributed to a three car accident.
The driver side passenger door got stuck in the lock position and could not be opened or unlocked. Finally got the door open and now it makes a loud buzzing noise when locking or unlocking. Rear passenger door has not gotten stuck in the lock position but has recently started making the same loud buzzing noise when locking or unlocking. This could be a safety hazard if they door were to get stuck in the lock position during an accident.
The driver's side sliding door will not unlock manually or automatically. I cannot open the door at all. It just stopped working with no apparent cause.
