On 10/13/2021 the front passenger seat headrest activated for no apparent reason. The van was at a complete stop. After inspecting the headrest I determined the plastic had broke and allowed the headrest to spring forward. The rod that locks the headrest in the normal position was still in the clamp indicating that the computer did not activate the headrest. The plastic holding the rod broke. Luckily the passenger was leaning up preparing to exit the vehicle so the headrest did not hit him in the back of the head. I called the dealer and asked if there was a recall for this issue and they indicated there was not.I believe this is an extremely unsafe incident and am afraid that the driver-??s side might be next.I believe it could cause serious head and neck injuries if falsely activated. I have researched and found many complaints about the same issue. I have temporarily put a strap on the headrest to hold it closed.

While exiting our parked 2015 Town and Country, the driver side active headrest on my wife-??s van went off. There was no collision or jarring of the vehicle. We contacted the dealer and were told it would have to be repaired out of pocket. I have seen this problem online and feel as though a recall should have been in place.

Passenger front headrest exploded while stationary. We were at a stop light, there was no accident or impact. It cannot be reset and needs to be replaced. I do not feel like we should have to pay out of pocket when this is a common issue and a safety issue.

problem #26

My vehicle was parked in the driveway stationary, and as I walked to the vehicle to enter the car with my 2 young children and as we approached I heard a load pop noise. I found the ahr headrest had deployed, with no one touching or moving the vehicle. The vehicle has never been in an accident and the headrest has never been reset for any reason. The plastic joint mechanism and spring that holds it in and together cracked and broke. I called Chrysler dealership and they will not fix or replace unless I pay out of pocket, approx $1000 for 1 headrest. The gentleman on the phone acknowledged that he knew of this happening often in Chrysler T&C vans, however could not help me as my warranty is now up and there is not a recall. I am terrified to drive my van now, knowing that the drivers side headrest ahr may deploy at anytime no warning and cause injuries to me, which could cause me to crash my vehicle while driving endangering my children and family. I have ziptied both the passenger headrest and drivers head rest shut. The drivers headrest is ziptied in case it randomly deploys and the passengers is zip tied as the head rest internal plastic mechanisms are broken.

problem #21

Jul 242020

Town & Country

  • 67,500 miles
The headrest on the passenger side of the vehicle spontaneously deployed without warning while I was driving one day. There was no accident, sudden stop, or anything of the sort. It simply occurred while driving. Thank god no one was riding in the passenger seat at the time. After it happened, my husband and I looked up this issue online and discovered hundreds of folks that stated the exact same thing happened to them in their Chrysler vehicles. This headrest is supposed to be a safety feature (which we knew nothing about), but it seems to be the exact opposite. The plastic holding the pin in place simply broke. There is no way to push the headrest back together, so now it is sitting deployed causing the passenger's head to be pushed forward.
