Driver's side sliding door is inoperable. Opening using buttons, and manually attempting to open from the inside or outside won't work. This seems to be a common issue with this model and Dodge Caravan. The vehicle was stationary on a city street the first time we noticed it.

This vehicle randomly shuts itself off while driving down the parkway or on our Suburban streets. The dash goes black, the steering wheel stiffens, and the power brakes become very difficult to press. It's completely dead. Putting it in neutral and trying to restart does not work at all. The dash and electronics remain off. We have to maneuver the vehicle to a complete stop, put in park, and then try several times turning the ignition before the electronics come back on and the vehicle starts. Terrifying experience, especially when the family is in the van.

From February 22nd 2018 to date, this automobile has registered numerous no crank no start failures, requiring several tows. It has stalled in traffic on a major highway, nearly causing an accident. Chrysler refuses to take a responsibility for these actions, that was caused by many years of poor quality control and engineering practices. They have a responsibly to their customer to provide the quality promised them.

This problem occurs frequently. I push the start button and the engine just continues to turn over without starting. If I pull out the start button and use the key, the engine starts without a problem. Research shows that there is a known problem with the tipm module but Chrysler will not replace it.

My key fob will not release from ignition and vehicle intermittently shuts down. While vehicle is placed in park and I attempt to remove the key from the ignition, the vehicle will shut down on its own. At this point, I try to remove the key and it becomes stuck in the ignition. I, then, attempt to turn the car back on and nothing happens...no power! this has happened on several occasions and I have had an extremely difficult time removing the key. It's as though a "kill switch" has been activated and my vehicle doesn't have a kill switch. I have a new battery and my engine and transmission are in excellent condition. My concern is that this can happen at any time, even while the vehicle is in use. I have contacted Chrysler and they have determined that there is nothing that can be done since no recall has been issued. I have also researched this issue online and there are websites and message boards with hundreds of complaints about this issue with Chrysler Town and country vehicles.

While driving my Town & Country on both city streets and highway the engine randomly shuts off to include all instrument panel lights on the dash. After coming to a complete stop I simply turn the key to try to re-start and it does. This has happened several times in the last month. I finally took it to the dealer and they could not determine the cause. They did some software updates and sent me on my way. The very next day it happened again. The dealer said that if it happened again that they would need to replace the catalytic converter. Catalytic converter? seriously doubt this is what is causing the vehicle to completely shut off. This is very dangerous and can be deadly.

While driving I started to smell something burning and began to pull over. Suddenly I saw smoke coming out from the driver side door panel. Immediately I shut the van off and rushed to get my children out of the van. Later my husband began to investigate and found that the window switch and harness it plugs into was completely melted. We googled what had happened and found that there is a recall regarding this problem and our van falls under the recall but I have never received a recall notice. The recall code is P25 rear window vent switch.

Trouble starting the car. You may have to turn the key a few times before it will connect and start. It would die on us at anytime. I had the car running and wiggle the key and it would die. Garage said it was a bad wireless ing.- key module. They said it was covered. It happened many times in the last couple of months.

This van has the blind spot monitoring system available as a safety feature at an extra cost. The factory installed monitors are exposed to rain, salt and corrosion. Most of the vans produced are affected with this problem.the repair cost for mine is $2140 plus tax on a two year old van at that time. Why doesn't the NHTSA require the company (Chrysler) to pay for this malfunction? Chrysler was required to pay the repair/ replacement cost on our old 2006 Dodge Caravan rear air conditioner problems... the Chrysler company and it's dealerships are well aware of this defect.

So me and my family we're heading to a birthday party on U.S. highway 64 going to huntsville Alabama and we was about ten minutes out from our city in winchester Tennessee and all of the sudden the van turns its self off at approximately at 50 miles an hour and lost all power to vehicle and power steering was out then there was a simi truck behind us and I guess he thought we was slowing down on purpose and blowed his horn and passed by.we managed to get the van to the shoulder in the grass and called a tow truck. The tow truck driver tryed to boost the van up and it started then died again so we had to have it towed in. We called Chrysler and they didn't help at all but to tell us to take it to the dealership which they was closed so I fixed it my self and all it was is a bad alternator.there should be some kind of warning when this stuff is going to happen because it was a scary situation at a high speed with your family with you.

Dealer identified as failed fuel pump relay integrated in total integrated power module (tipm) which is the problem recalled in R09/NHTSA 15V-115 the 2012/2013 durango and Grand Cherokee series and made by same manufacturer. This can cause vehicle to stall while driving or have a non start situation as power is not properly delivered to the fuel pump due to relay failure. This failure occurred in the 2012 Town & Country model which is not covered under the recall for the same year.

There was a recall on the rear quarter vent window switch. This caused an electrical fire inside my van causing all of the windows and electric doors to cease opening, literally trapping my then 3 year old twins inside the van on 11/30/16. Supposedly fixed only to have it happen again 8/31/17. The second issue involves a recall on the powertrain control module when the van was brand new. It had to have reprogramming of software because of poor shift quality. This was done on 1/1/12. The last almost 2 years of my life have revolved around this issue. My van frequently thinks it's stuck in reverse when it is actually in park so it won't start. This can go on for days. It was brought to the dealership on 10/18/16, 11/3/16, 11/30/16, and again on 8/31/17 all for this exact reason. I have numerous time stamped pictures from the 9 month gap that I stopped bringing it in to show it was still doing it. I didn't bring it in, however because the issue was never resolved because no code came up. This time Chrysler has came up with 8 things that it is but they are waiting on the back ordered powertrain module to complete the last of the 8 items. In the meantime they are making me pay over $1000 out of pocket for a rental I can't afford. The first time the electrical fire happened I was driving on the express way in an ice storm with my children and dog where there were no exits. The second time it happened, I was driving with the girl I babysit on a 50mph road. When the car thinls it's in reverse, it sometimes happens when I am in the pickup line at school causing other parents tp get angry when I am blocking everyone. Sometimes I go to start my car and it's fine, other days or minutes it thinks it's in reverse. It has been the bain of my existence. No inspection, ro with complaint of "vehicle filled with smoke": 1/11/2016, P25 open at the time of the event updated 7/23/18

Driver side rear vent window switch and the wire harness connection it plugs into melted while driving. While driving smoke started coming out of the driver side door panel. I pulled over shut the vehicle off and quickly took my three children out of my van, luckily no fire started and no one hurt. After investigating the issue, my husband pulled the window vent switch out to find it completly melted along with the connector it plugs into. Now knowing it is a recall I have not received a recall notice and would like to get it repaired.

My Town and country shut off while driving 60 mph on a busy highway with my children in the car. All of a sudden the engine turned off, the power steering and brakes were disabled. My husband had to haphazardly Pilot the vehicle to the side of the road. We had it towed to the dealership and they stated that it was a dead battery. I insisted that a dead battery does not cause a vehicle to shut off mid drive. The dealership rechecked it and replaced the battery. I got it home and as I pulled in the driveway the same thing happened. The car just shut off. This is a serious safety issue that Chrysler should be addressing. I believe that a faulty tipm is the reason why this is happening.
