Driver door caught fire after recalled window switch while driving. Luckily, a friend behind me had a fire extinguisher so the fire was contained to the driver door
The contact owns a 2012 Chrysler Town and country. The contact stated that the vehicle was shutting off without warning. The vehicle was unable to pass inspection due to the failure. An independent mechanic indicated that the vehicle needed to be taken to an authorized dealer for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA action number: DP14004 (electrical system). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was not available.
Passenger side blind spot detection failed. Located in wheel well. Housing was coroded, dirt, sand, & water damage inside corroded wires. Cost to repair / replace <$1000
My blind spot sensors were malfunctioning. I brought them to a dealer that said that it is a very common issue because of a design flaw that causes water to get into the sensor housing. I just got home and removed both sensors and both are corroded from water damage that clearly entered at the seams of the housing. This is so bad that they are split open because the corrosion and there was evidence of shorting wires and melting plastic in the area where the sensors are housed in the rear bumpers. This issue was present in both sensors and after some online searches it appears that thousands of other drivers of this make/model are experiencing the same issue. Because the blind spot warning system is a safety feature I believe this should be a recalled item. If these parts are not recalled someone's failed blind spot detection sensors are going to cause an accident leading to serious injury or death (if they haven't already.) I have contacted Chrysler about this issue and they were not willing to investigate or send a replacement part that would be sealed to prevent water damage.

Vehicle has repeatedly stalled and completely shutdown while driving on city streets. On several occasions narrowly avoiding causing an accident by being rear-ended by another vehicle.
While driving the van all the electrical and engine shuts off. Has happened 4 times and the most recent while going 60 highway. Dealer finally diagnosed the tipm needs to be replaced. It looks like there have been several hundred complaints about this and it is very dangerous.

The contact owns a 2012 Chrysler Town and country. While driving 70 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the totally integrated power module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. While driving my ignition "turns off", often when I hit a bump. It is as if I turn off the ignition and removed the key. They entire dash readout goes blank. I have found that if I press the key in it will sometimes come back on but I still must shift to neutral and turn the key to start. This seems very dangerous as it has happened many times while driving in excess of 55 mph. One time I accidently shifted beyond neutral into park! I believe that Chrysler had a recall on this problem in the two prior year models and I believe it should be extended to the 2012 model. This has happened dozens of times, the last time being yesterday.
Our Town & Country turns off while driving. Soon after it has been turned on. It has happened at low speeds and while at a stop. Once it shuts off, it won't restart until sitting for several hours. Both our local car mechanic and the Chrysler dealership have inspected the car and can't find anything wrong. No error codes show up. Thankfully it has only happened while I've been in relatively safe situations, like parking lots or backing out of my garage. But the safety concerns are huge, if this happens in an intersection or highway. There was a formal investigation done in 2014 with regards to the timp, of which the Town and country was ultimately not included. Attched are repair invoices from both our mechanic and from the Chrysler dealership.

The contact owns a 2012 Chrysler Town and country. After the vehicle was turned off, the battery power drained and the vehicle could not be restarted. The vehicle was examined by an independent mechanic who replaced the battery and alternator, but the failure continued. It was later determined that the fuel pump relay remained activated even though the vehicle was turned off and the ignition key was removed from the ignition switch. The vehicle was not repaired. The local dealer (East Tennessee Dodge, 2774 N. main St, crossville, tn) was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 140,000.
The vehicle would shut down and would require restarting. Radio time would reset as if the battery was disconnected. After having auto tech look at vehicle, it has shut down once at a stop. The radio has reset multiple time but engine does not shut off.

Van dies while driving. Speed does not matter. 5mph or 65mph. Dies without warning-no power steering, hard to brake, no turn signals to let other drivers know etc. Once I get pulled over and put into park it will start up fine like nothing has happened. The dealership cannot find anything wrong with it. Other reputable mechanics find nothing on van's computer.. no error codes. Nothing detectable. This has been going on for two years at random. It's terrifying and will unfortunately probably be fatal someday.
Tipm module has been deemed defective by multiple mechanics. I was informed of an active investigation into this. Van refuses to start. Have not had van running in two months now. Replaced battery and alternator to eliminate those as the problem.
The contact owns a 2012 Chrysler Town and country. The contact stated that the vehicle lane departure system, navigational system, and the rear back up camera failed. A few weeks later, the contact noticed smoke coming from the rear passenger side tail light. The vehicle was taken to kimberly car city (625 w kimberly road, davenport, ia 52806, (563) 391-8300) where it was diagnosed that the rear bumper, modules, and wiring harness caught fire due to water exposure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. A Chrysler engineer inspected the vehicle and concluded that the failure was not due to a manufacturer defect.
