Transmission replaced November I believe of 2020. Ever since then I have brought it back to the dealership with coolant concerns (low coolant levels, bubbling noises). Have had 3 aux batteries installed in a year. Now auto start stop light have been on and check engine light giving misfire codes. Was finally informed after forcing them to take another look after my pacific kept shaking and then stalling while moving, that there is a coolant leak on/in a head gasket causing coolant to leak everywhere, in turn causing the misfire. Have gotten the run around from the dealership, now they finally listened to me and my concern after they replaced the transmission. Now asking for $4100 just to remove the engine, not even to fix the issue.
Blown Head Gasket with on 70,000 miles. This is a vehicle for moving young families and could have been stranded in the middle of nowhere. Chrysler Care told me I was 10K miles out of warranty and would not extend good will fix because I was not original purchaser. But they were the original manufacturer! Don't buy Chrysler.
I was driving down the road and on a 8 lane road I came to a stop light. At the stop light my Van shut down and would not restart or turn back on. I was dead in the road with kids in the car almost getting hit from behind. I have video of the incident.
Vehicle stops in the middle off traffic. Engine will start but car will not move. Numerous warning lights appear such as:vehicle not in park (it is in park), rear brake assist unavailable, shift to P then desired gear, service electronic stability control, park brake temporarily unavailable. The vehicle accelerator pedal can be floured and the RPM is only 1500. After tow trick delivers me home, the vehicle will miraculously drive unimpeded for days and weeks until the very same thing happens. Repair facilities have said they can find nothing wrong/cannot duplicate.
Vehicle caught on fire under the engine on the passenger side. It was contained within the engine compartment. I smelled smoke and thought it was from outside. Not seeing any haze outside I check my vehicle indications and all were normal. When I stopped to wait to make a left turn that-??s when I saw the smoke and pulled over. Police and fire put out the flames. The car is currently in the shop being repaired and nobody can tell me why it happened but they are repairing it. I-??m concerned for the safety of my family.

2018 Chrysler Pacifica stalled while making a turn in an intersection. Dash message said something like put in park and hit stop/start and the D on the shifter was flashing
Picked up Vehicle from Bayside Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Annapolis after we were told the problems were addressed. After driving about 50 miles home parking than driving the Van again about 5 miles, In the center lane of the road driving about 45 mph the van said "Shift to P to start". The van wouldn't accelerate forcing my wife to drift to the shoulder of the road. The van was turned off and attempted to turn back on, but the Van would not turn completely on to drive. After about five minutes the van was able to be restarted and turned on. The check engine light came on, the van was driven to Auto zone to have the check engine light read. "Power Train System - P0BFD" & " Secondary DTC".
This happened the Day after we purchased the 2018 hybrid Pacifica limited. While Driving the van started to stall out (wouldn-??t go when pushing gas) and said shift to P(park) to start. Pulled over turned off the van and restarted it, that didn-??t fix the problem. Restarted again and it went back to normal but the check engine light is on. Also the battery is dying extremely fast. Within 5 miles it-??ll go from 40% to 0%.
This is the third and fourth time we have had this issue with our van. The previous two times were on May 25, 2019 and June 4, 2021. In this incident, my wife was driving our van with our two kids and I down Northwest Highway in Arlington Heights, IL. We were going about 35 miles per hour when several alarms and warnings appeared on the driver-??s dashboard including 'SERVICE HYBRID SYSTEM', a red wrench with a red lightning bolt through it, the orange engine warning light, and red battery warning icon, and a message appeared saying 'SHIFT VEHICLE TO PARK'. (See attached photos.) When my wife pressed the accelerator pedal nothing happened. We were able to coast and turn down a side street. We put the vehicle in park, turned it off and we-??re able to restart it. We immediately notified the dealership and drove it there. On the way to the dealership, we made a stop. When in a parking lot, my wife pressed the accelerator to drive and the same issue happened with the same warning lights and alarms. Once again, we shifted to park, turned the vehicle off and we-??re able to restart it. We drove straight to the dealership, informed them of the repeated issue and left the van with them. The dealership indicated there were over twenty software updates. We were told the exact same thing on June 4th the last time this happened. They have not yet been able to tell us why this has happened or continues to happen. The problem has not been reproduced by the dealership but this is the third time this has happened. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer.
This is the second time we have had this issue with our van. The first time was May 25, 2019. On June 4, 2021, my wife was driving down the highway with our two kids and as she began to exit toward the off ramp, several alarms and warning appeared on the driver-??s dashboard including 'SERVICE HYBRID SYSTEM', a red wrench with a lightning bolt through it, the orange engine warning light, and a message appeared saying 'SHIFT VEHICLE TO PARK'. The van stalled and when my wife pressed the accelerator, nothing happened. She was able to coast down the exit ramp and pull over to the shoulder. The van was out in park, shut off and we were able to restart it. The orange engine warning light remained on. We immediately drove to the dealership. They ran a diagnostic test and said no issues came up but there were twenty some software updates. The issue has not been reproduced by the dealer but we have had it happen two times. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer.
We purchased the vehicle new from an out-of-state dealership (Ewald Chrysler Jeep Dodge LLC in Franklin, WI) in November 2019. Since that purchase, we have suffered four (4) failure events in which the vehicle completely loses power while driving, having experienced the first failure event just 10 months after purchase at approximately 15,000 miles. In each instance, the vehicle will, without warning and while in motion, power off and cease to move under its own power, illuminate a check engine light (CEL), and display a -??Shift to P to Start-?? message on the console. In every instance, the complete loss of driveability has required immediate and urgent action to move our vehicle out of lanes of travel and onto the shoulder. In all but one instance, the vehicle fails to restart without significant intervention (e.g., towing to the dealership) and has left our family stranded. To facilitate repairs, we have shared CEL event logging, a video, and photos with the below-listed dealerships. To date, the dealership states that they are unsure as to the cause of the failures and can not find any obvious issue requiring repair beyond the P0C0E code that is stored in the vehicle's ECM. Our vehicle has been in for repair on the following dates for this recurrent failure: August 3, 2020 (15,900 mi): died while driving, serviced at Larry Miller Chrysler Jeep Avondale August 7, 2020 (15,978 mi): died while driving, serviced at Chapman Dodge Chrysler Jeep June 30, 2021 (33,863): died while driving, serviced at Chapman Dodge Chrysler Jeep July 3, 2021 (34,300): died while driving, serviced at Chapman Dodge Chrysler Jeep
Sliding door shuts, beeps and reopens. we have to hit the button 3-5 times before it shuts. Back up camera flashes blue and does not work. Aux battery keeps going dead and the auto start stop quits working. I just had to spend 1000 to fix all the issues. after seeing other comments this seems to be quite a problem with a lot of these vans.
We have a 2018 Pacifica limited hybrid. While driving, it beeped, then message appeared to say "shift to P". the van then lost motive power shortly after. Once stopped, shut down engine then restarted, it would drive again. This also occurred a few times while driving on a freeway, I had to quickly get to emergency lane/shoulder. Very dangerous situation with cars whipping by us while we stopped with van full of kids. But it always restarted back and we were able to keep going. Engine light would stay on but then would disappear later. We took it to our dealer (fresno Chrysler Jeep) and they said "software issue" and that they will update it. I didn't get to talk to the advisor but looking at the service bill - unclear if anything was done. They drove it around for 30 min and engine light did not come back on. The vehicle already has done all the recalls previously. We took it home - shortly after this happened again. Not sure what condition triggers it. My wife will take it back to the dealer today and will ask them at least change the 12V battery (not sure if that is the reason but per forum discussion, this can be a culprit). The problem it seems is that dealers are in the dark about the problem and most probably dont have clue how to address it.
I was stopped at light going straight and when the light turned green, I pressed on the gas pedal but the van wouldn't move as it had stalled out. The shift knob was stuck on drive which started blinking and the start/stop warning light came on. I turned the vehicle off and tried to restart it but it still failed to move. I tried to restart it a second time and this time it did start to move. Extremely inconvenient and unsafe when stuck in the middle of an intersection. Also have had issues with the left passenger rear door continously opening back up after trying to close it. Nothing is in the way of the door which I had confirmed multiple times so I'm not sure if something is wrong with the sensor or if it's part of the electrical system failing.
This vehicle with unsafe deadly driving conditions began as a new vehicle at around 1300 miles. Acceleration of Chrysler Pacifica while driving at 55 to 75 miles per hour with the engine of vehicle does not slow down but stays stuck and does not slow down and remains at a high rate of speed. Documented over 350 incidents of this subject Pacifica for 3 years. Often, I could not stop the engine from racing at its highest rate of speed while on freeways and other roads. This vehicles engine does not slow down and begin forced pumping of brakes making the vehicle rise in height and.. II could not stop this Pacifica engine from shutdown racing engine until I place the shift mechanism in neutral to slow it down and keep in from crashing into a forward vehcile object. The engine gets stuck in its former highest rate of speed for 30 to 45 seconds.on a good number of occasions I have taken this subject vehicle to ray lathem dealership in detroit, Michigan. The dealership put thousands of miles on my leased vehicle and stated they did not know what the safety stuck acceleration problem was. Chrysler would not acknowledge any safety acceleration problems and I had my vehicle tested by software engineers and they advised me that the aforementioned Chrysler Pacifica has defective ut modules, powertrain control PCM reprogram module powertrain control. This Pacifica engine continued to stick causing the engine to race a its former highest rate of spped of 55 or 70 miles per hour. During winter weather like rain, snow or ice this vehicle would turn sideways while getting off the freeway service drive. While this is my 4th Chrysler mini van I have placed my family children at high risk of being injured in a car accident. I have written the president of Chrysler and all this stress this cost me over 9,500 additional mileage penalties of.28 cents per mile...
Multiple times while stationary when starting the car, the push button starter will fail to start the engine. Upon second attempt to start the car the starter has a prolonged series of cranks and finally starts. The concern is this has happened multiple times after just purchasing the car. This could be a safety issue if it happens while driving, and engine shuts off, or could strand us without the the ability to start the car.
I was driving straight at 40mph. The engine turned off, but electrical maintained. After a couple hundred feet the engine came back on. Without pushing on the gas the engine accelerated the car over a short distance, break was inputted and full control was restored to the physical. We took the vehicle to the dealer, but nothing was done as they couldn't replicate the issue. This vehicle has had numerous electrical issues.
My van completely shut down while driving with my 2 kids in the car and would not start back up. It was not from the auto start/stop feature. The radio interior lights everything shut off. It would not even allow me to get it in N to push it. It was very scary because I was in the middle of a highway with my children. It is not my battery, alternator, or starter because I've had them tested. After speaking to multiple people and reading on the Chrysler forums this seems to be a common issue. If this issue persists I will be trading it in for a different make and model. Bummed because I absolutely love this van.
The van was running and I was stopped in the middle of an intersection, waiting to turn left. A warning message popped up on the dash--something about the start/stop system. I released my foot from the brake so as to continue through the intersection. Interior and exterior lights remained on however the vehicle would not move. I could not turn the shift knob out of drive, even after several attempts. Depressing the gas pedal has no effect. At some point I may have pressed the brake and then turned the shift knob back to park. I was then able to restart the vehicle and get out of the intersection. I was able to drive home after but the experience was dangerous and frightening.
While driving, my son, who was seated in the passenger side of the third row, noticed that his cupholder area was extremely hot. I pulled over and confirmed. We drove on and I told him to check. It stayed very hot for the duration of the drive. At the first visit the dealer said that they added insulation between the interior panels and the coolant lines in the area, though as an engineer I understood that said insulation would do nothing if it were squeezed tightly between the panel and the pipe. We noticed no change and reported the problem to Chrysler, who refunded the visit but took no further action. A repeat visit to the dealer had them saying there was less than five degrees difference between the hot spot and the surrounding area. I used my infrared thermometer to prove that the section of the interior panel is over 130 degrees whereas the surrounding panel is about 65. You can see this in the video I link to below. This is a safety issue, as second degree burns can result from temperatures that high, and it could start a fire. Repeated attempts to contact Chrysler were ignored. Https://youtu.be/gtbecz5chtg
